That's what happened in parts of Thailand with mountains against the beach. Like this scene in Japan, pressure of the tsunami with no land to cross become a deep churning bowl of turbulance. In Thailand, some survivors of that tsunami were found at the tops of trees.
I don't know about the accuracy of the wave height but from the sound of that wind, hope the photographer got out of there before the F5 tornado hit....
@achachachacha may they rest in peace as any other people affected by this disaster and the Daiichi Accident, our thoughts are with their families and friends
que pasada!! yo creo que la gente no es conciente de lo que verdaderamente paso!! cada dia se ven videos nuevos y mas impactantes. esperemos que eso no vuelva a ocurrir nunca mas. parece que el fin del mundo esta mas cerca!!

I'm glad you made it.
When you said(in the description),
"I would not have escaped if I had heard the tsunami warning",
did you mean "I would not have escaped if I had NOT heard the tsunami warning"?
Your English is far better than my Japanese,I'm sure!
I was just wondering if you meant that the alert would have mis-led you if you had heard it.
Peace,
-g

@jetpoweredgriffin
Thank you for your English lesson!
I meant "I would not have escaped EVEN if I had heard the tsunami warning."
because this point is located high above sea level.
Unfortunately, three members of a volunteer fire company who were watching the tsunami for monitering were sacrificed here.

A confined, narrow valley - that's where the extreme tsunami heights can occur.

Above the trees. That is where to go. 100 feet.
