Yes, it's "Peert." Funny, it might have been the maniacal antics of Keith Moon--ironically, one of Neil's main influences--who conveyed the stereotype that drummers, particularly rock drummers, are idiots. (It was Keith's personality, after all, combined with the physical appearance of Ginger Baker, which were combined to create Animal on "The Muppet Show.") Thankfully, we "idiots" have a true intellectual, not to mention all-around good guy to look up to, in a gentleman like Mr. "Peert" here.

Yeah, I've heard Neil say Peert. One of the most mispronounced names in the music biz. Kind of like Ray Davies (pronounced Davis, not Daveez) from the Kinks.
seriously dude, if j'lo and the big blacko dude had theiway, aerosmith would be much far behind the waterfall emergence, a thousand years of pots and pan wigs hath toime recognoized meigh boigh. and crept into your rote slappin debased mon
ok all you asses who think Neil is a jerk, you go thru the hell he has gone thru and tell me it doesnt change you n someway. Thats why he doesnt do meet and greets and allows Geddy and Lerxst to do it.if you dont like that explanation...tough shit.its the truth.He almost quit music, I for one and glad the greatest and most influential drummer in rock came back.
@mohawksoccerplayer hes not an asshole he is just a very private person and gets very embarrased in situations like that. it sux that its like that with his job but thats his personallity, he cant help it
@mohawksoccerplayer If you knew a bit of Rush, you'd know that he doesn't like to interact with the public. as amazing as it sounds, he is kind of shy.
Geedy and Alex like this part and always treat the fans great.
ONE OF THE GREATEST BAND EVER. I love how they dont care if they dont get in the hall of fame even though they know they should be in it already, true rockers.
@tuz0wils0n - Yeah. This interviewer is one of the few who actually pronounces his name correctly. I recall an article with Neil in the 80's when he said that he can't stand it when people pronounce his last name "Pert". He said, "Pert" is a shampoo.
He's so grounded and well spoken. The perfect role model for any kid. Starting drums at 13 myself and not having a father around, Neil was an influence both musically and intellectually. He's the reason I read books and never got into drugs. I feel like I'm a better person for having been a fan of Rush from such a young age. Now I'm 44 and still a Rush fan.
@tuz0wils0n - Thanks! My boys are 14 and 16 and they love Rush. They laugh at all the hip hop kids in the neighborhood and could care less if kids call them geeks because they're into Rush. I'm just doing my job as a parent. lol!
@tuz0wils0n - Even my sons are into them. They're 14 and 16 and they got a lot of their friends into them as well. Just doing my job as a parent. Ha! I'm taking them to see Rush again July 21st. Have you seen the Snakes and Arrows concert dvd? Their best yet, in my opinion.
Feel exactly the same way. Love him. He inspired so many, including myself. I always felt special knowing that I was a RUSH fan, and honored just a bit too.
Hey buryboys, that goes for me too. I also grew up minus a father figure and Rush has been a very good source of positive energy in my life, not to mention all the great music and live performances. They are proof that anything is possible if you work hard and believe.
If you guys have ever studied Neil's lyrics, you know where his influences in objectivism come from. I'm no disciple of anyone, but I'm running a congressional campaign that will be based on those same philosophies. I'd be much obliged if you'd all critique my video's for my campaign.
PS I also put a few of my old guitar solo's in there for you.

@Leadtheband, it's pronounced Peer-t -- Oakley says his name 7 seconds in.
