  • For that moment, when Tracy Chapman sang that verse, there was perfection in the world.

  • brilliant video

  • I LOVE it when gay when wear matching black vents!

  • @2932AV8 You must recall that this was during the 80s. Such attire would be considered downright manly by the standards of the day.

  • I was there in that audience. I was 15 years old. I remember it well. Wow. What a show.

  • semplicemente grandi, Irripetibili

    grazie

  • Peter... the one and only!

  • COULD SOMEBODY TELL ME IF THIS WAS THAT SHOW IN WEMBLEY IN SEPTEMBER 2?

  • glanneveaux - you make a strong point....but in spite of - or perhaps because of the reality that there are many wrongs to be righted, we still need to persevere and this song reminds us of that.

  • Actually - It was me - revjo06 who posted that comment - not TheJoshuabordeaux.... (Sorry J)

  • Great performance of a great song by all involved. Too bad that the reality is that yours/mine freedoms are becoming as extinct as the dinasaurs. What happened to this country? Never was what it was made out to be. Ask the Mexicans and Native American Indians; the only "true" Americans.

  • boss is boss what can you say? best o th best bruce rocks!!!!!

  • any one understands what youssou 'n dour is singing? it does not even sound like english..

  • @springEstreet Yousou N'dour is singing in Wolof his home language. but it's the same thing as in english.

  • "For the countless confused, accused, misused, strung-out ones and worse, And for every hung-up person in the whole wide universe". Such powerful and evocative words from Dylan. So sad to feel unloved, disconnected, with no sense of belonging - we are all part of the same family and we all have a part to play in this world - however big or small. Amazing song.

  • fantastic~

  • Ganz große Klasse, superschön

  • My heart is overwhelmed with the Epic Beauty of the melodic messengers of

cascading light transcending from the heavens.

How can one begin to express the depths of appreciation for this song?

  • OSLO, Norway – Imprisoned Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo won the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday for using nonviolence to demand fundamental human rights in his homeland

  • Love Tracy!

  • Looking down at the lyrics? I'm a performer they're are a *lot* of lyrics to remember, as with many of Dylan's tunes.

I'm a Byrds devotee, but I imagined Springsteen singing this song a while earlier, when listening to the original Byrds cover. This is fabulous.

  • Well far between sundown's finish and midnight's broken toll

We ducked inside the doorway thunder crashin'

As majestic bells of boats struck shadows in the sun

Sayin' it may be the chimes of freedom flashin'

  • This should be hacked into Pakistan State Radio

  • @richintalent word

  • Memories come back, saw them in Budapest 1988, it was an indescribable and unforgetable night!!

I wish more people use their brain and heart to maintain peace...

  • I love this song and I am a great admirer of Amnesty...but you must have the view from the UK because the world did not look rosy or united from America in 1988. We had just survived 8 years of Reagan's economic punishments and military misadventures and found ourselves about to face 4 years of Bush One. There was only polarization here. I wish you good luck in the UK today, but please dont ask us to learn from the 80s, which paved the way for more larger wars and the financial collapse of 09.

  • @TomUltranova Dude, Reagan & Bush won the cold war. We had 20+ years of prosperity due to their economic policies. The war on terror is nothing compared to the ever present worry of nuclear annihilation we lived with then.

You really think we should return to mutual assured destuction and Carter's stagflation, really?

  • I was at the LA concert in 1988 what a magical day it was. Thank you to all the performers!

You could say it changed my views on life.

  • Bruce... Sting... waaaaaaaaaaahhhh! *died*

    #PeppawantsSting

  • This should be hacked into Iran state radio

  • Pray for the folks who are out in the streets in Iran, speaking out for their freedom.

We see and hear you. You are not striving in vain!

  • ooh raaah!

  • Wow. Over 20 yrs ago my parents got me and my 2 sisters tickets to the LA show, (including airline tickets from Denver) it was amazing. That experience changed my life.

  • See some look down at the lyrics below. Bruce doesn't.

Bruce is really something. I don't know what something he is, though. (actually, I do)

Thank you, Bruce. Since and from a long time ago.

  • Bruce had been performing the song with The E Streeters on his own toru, before the Amnesty Tour, so he had it memorized.

  • oh yes what a song.

    And amasing performers.

    great verrsion too,

    5 stars
