I think Mormons are among the best people in the country. They tend to be spiritually healthy and live principled lives. I hope their rules allow them to be armed; this country may be ripped apart pert soon... I don't know if la raza considers Utah part of "Aztlan"...
Good to see LDS open doors to others. Hearing of people willing to steal and prey on LDS families in hard times because they dont know where to get food storage. We dont need violence on anyone when food is made available to everyone. Hard times ARE coming, people are panicking.
It's a great idea. I'm wondering though, if times get so bad that this is needed for the families that perpared what is going to stop the local government from seizing it all under the premise of an emergency act?
You who are prepared can consider it a blessing to "administer of your substance unto him that standeth in need." (Mosiah 4; Matthew 25:40)
Would you not much rather be in the position of giving rather than begging/taking? There is much peace of mind in knowing that we have provided for our own.
As for forced seizure, whether by government or by gun-toting neighbors, this will not be so well received. It may come to that. Let's pray that it doesn't.
Thank you for posting this. As a non-member, I wish all Christians, no, all PEOPLE, embraced preparedness like the LDS church does. Hard times are indeed coming.
Non-LDS folks can use these Home Storage Centers, the church just asks that you go there with a member of the LDS church. Your purchase is recorded with information regarding which church unit you reside in. Someone who is not a member of the church would just indicate the ward and stake of their friend or family member who came with them to the Home Storage Center. If you're not a member of the church and need help finding someone to go with you, let me know and I'll help you find someone.
Thanks, Actually I found a person locally who is into going to the cannery. He took me to one in the city here and we had a great time canning. I was shocked at how cheap stuff was.. for about 200 bucks I came out of there with LOADS Of stuff.
Its a great deal and the people were great and helpful. We had a great production line going and had a blast canning the stuff :)
I'd be interested in hooking up with someone in the church. I'm a bit of a prepper already, but could use any input possible on long term storage and *zomg* keeping things organized!
@heidijp - hard times are always coming - prepping just makes all times easier! (helps drive a good point home without people reacting negatively to the gloom and doom - even though we know it's true ;-)
Not everywhere, but there are quite a few of these 'Home Storage Centers'. 20+ in the Eastern US, 50+ in the Western US (excluding Utah), 23 in Utah, and 5 in Canada. Visit ProvidentLiving, org for more info.

The government has made it illegal to hoard food during a state of emergency or martial law.

Gotta love our politicians throwing our God-given rights out with the bath water.

No they probably mean that you cant go out and buy tons and tons of food all at the same time.
You can have food collected over the years.

That is why a rifle should be a part of your emergency storage.
AKMac1300 3 years ago
It is already illegal to "hoard' food and supplies.
u.s. is in a state of emergency right now:
