@johnvile I suppose if there's an obsession with success here it comes down to not wanting to waste precious time on something pointless. So success would be knowing (or having a way to work out) what that point is - whether it's blogging for purely personal reasons, documenting a project, chasing huge numbers of visitors or whatever.
The link in the description has examples of blogs that are 'successful' in lots of different ways. Many of them, like you say, have chosen one thing to do well.

I'm sorry.. But WTF is this obsession with success? Why should a blog be successful? And what does that actually mean?
If anything a Blog should just do "one thing well" and that is all.
