Homme was the best thing that ever happened to them. Don't get me wrong, I like the first two albums very much but they did take a great step forward with 'Humbug'. Can't wait to see where the next album goes to. 'Pretty Visitors' is possibly the best song of a great bunch.

This is a fabulous song- from a great Album. Appropriate:-) and here is a question- is there anyone else feel that there is a bit of a Morrison-esque influence here? Wld. Love it. Wow. ALex is Hot. Methinks though Morrison couldn't keep up on the fast parts:-) who knows:-)

Great song, I truly enjoy the way the lyric seems to refer to them (Arctic) as the pretty visitors arriving on the desert, waving with their hands and noticing they cast a sahdow ressembling the shadow of a snake pit, and beholding the crook (Josh Homme as from Them Crooked Vultures) playing on the hammock, waiting for them visitors, and the way that whole context affects Alex own creativity

@1Rodric I thought that 'All the pretty visitors" was the crowd that come to shows. And when they wave there hands, it looks like a shadow of a snake pit on the wall. Good interpretation though!

I understand ur point,it sure is a situation where the imagery works as well,but for me that would be too much focused on the audience-fans,wich the rest of the lyric doesn't come about much,therefore I supposed that scenery on the Desert,my influence is because I imagine why would feel just like that if I had the chance to go and visit the studio where Homme records on the Mojave. Besides he even tends the lyric as if they were travelling somewhere,thank you for the comment on my own comment.

i like the new direction. they sound like they've been practicing alot more. especially matt. the lyrics are better as well. they are about different things than before cus alex cant pretend to write about sheffield and act as if he still lived there. they've matured with him

not only is humbug (in my opinion) a musical improvement on the other 2. i recon its also gone in the right direction - creating tracks that relate 2 more age groups than the previous 2 whose lyrics were very focused on being young , goin out. dont get me wrong through all of there albums iv thought theyre amazing. and i prefer different aspects on each 1, but overall this is definatley my favourite.

it does in parts, like the solo to crying lightning, the solo on this web transmission, and the heavyier swinging slow bits with high backing vocals. i think qotsa were defo an influence. bt then the doors, with the organ. it melds all its influences into an original, arctic monkesy record :)
