@zoeybanks I realise you asked this like three months ago but, they went back because they picked up a signal at an old dig site from one of the satellites they left in orbit around Mars.

The Mars facilities were cleared after Doom 3. All they found was the Marine survivor and a metric-shit-ton of corpses and gore eh.

So they doubled the military/security presence for the second expedition sent to discover the source of the signal, and McNeil returned to lead it, and continue her research. {XD

Doom 3 doesn't really freak me out, but the Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil is the real HELL. cause doom 3 has more humans than demons directly from hell. Wheras Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil has more demons than humans. you see, at the first level of Doom 3 Resurrection of Evil, there is already Lost Souls trying to suck your soul outta your ass. so i am currently playing doom 3. until i have fear under control, than i will start resurrection of evil...:D

Why do you never have any allies in doom? Doom 3 had abunch of dumass npc followers who just screamed "Dont let them get me" or "HELP!!!"

It would be quite interesting to have some npcs who could fight with you. There are even mods for it!

It has the same developers, engine, good plot... And NPCs are really smart and cool. Lots of jokes and when you play it, you feel like you are playing with a real artificial intellect, cuz everything is happening so well that you fall inside the game... I really can't explain that, it is very interesting, mind blowing game,play it

That dragon-demon-scientist dude who was in DooM 3 just ruined this expansion for me. I couldn't even take it seriously when I tried playing it. I just thought, "What an uncreative joke of an enemy!" DooM 3 was a let down in a few ways as well. DooM 1 and 2 all the way. Still a cheesy storyline but way better than these two new ones. I hope DooM 4 kicks some serious ass if they ever do make it.

DOOM3 is still the best first person shooter, scary as hell and evil as sin. It is the same story as the original game only done in full 3D (Shotgun is still the best weapon). Resurrection of Evil feels like a rip off, because it's the 15 minutes left out of the ending. ID should of never made it because its not worth it. They should of focued on a DOOM3-2 and made it a full game. And for the movie, there is no comparison, the game holds its own story,

They mentioned it at some Quake Con or something. They said it's not going to be related to Doom 3 nor will it be a reboot of the series. I don't know the whole story, and don't feel obligated to look it up for you since you're hell-bent (no pun) that there's no Doom 4. Quake 5 and a new Wolfenstein are also rumored to be in the works.

Doom the movie was ok in it's own right, but the main thing that killed it for me, was that it was "based" on Doom, and had very little to do with doom at points. Where was the parts where hell was merging with the ship? Those parts were from doom 2 and 3. So alright, the first one was ok, but it was mostly killed because of the name and certain other elements for me.
