This type of Bass- recording depends more on In the "Sound of Hands" than equipment. It makes U play better IMO ... Also that's exactly why I practise my Bass playing without any amplifier. :)
Nice job ! If you're going just direct in to mixer/PC, It is importand to find adjust the input, and the Record level also to maximum without too much distortion... That of course depends of playing style... But combined with a good sound IN the hands...it produces a powerful Tone. The more timeI spend setting all the volume/record settings just right, the better overall sound I get.
There is a tab book out there for this. It's an orange book with jaco with his blue shirt and stocking cap on the cover. Though had I not found the slowed down version that you did probably wouldn't be able to figure it out. Thanks.

Straighten the right hand wrist is ultra important if you want 100% control!
Just look at Jaco and Gary Willis!
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is NOT fun to get i know a guy who had to stop playing for 2 years because of it!!

I got two good tips for ya
1.straighten your right hand wrist 2.place the bass on your left leg
These two very simple things will make you have more control!!
And don´t forget what Jaco used to say "Don´t think just concentrate!
