This -is one great song!! Just listen to it! Years later still sounds fresh (to me).Hadn't heard it for decades. Something very different about it:
Late 60's My sister had this latest Dennis Yost & Classics 5 locked in her drawer -as sisters do! One day she forgot to lock up I was able to go thru her secret collection of LP's she hid from me: among them 'Stormy' was THE Track!! Thanks for this upload! brings back memories of not only different times -but different places. BA -
There will never be another dennis yost.the man was great.he also was a very friendly man i met him in1988 he was opening for three dog night in chesapeake va and before the show started he walked up to the fence and just started talking to everyone you felt like you new the guy already .rest in peace dennis. steve.
This is a wonderful tribute--thank you for putting it together! Many years ago, I met one of the song's authors, Buddy Buie--a lovely, humble gentleman.
The Classics IV will forever be entwined with the transforming experiences of my youth--thanks for bringing back those sunny days!

This is awesome. I have been into watching storms since I was a little boy. I was in grade school when this song was cut. I have the album I bought it in the 70's.
My deepest sympathy to his family and all of his fans. I heard of his passing on KXMO Cuba Mo. via; night d.j. over the dish from Omaha Ne.
May he rest in peace. He and the Classic IV did some great songs. "Traces" is now a standard and combines so unique strands in music. thanku for posting. 5
I have left so many comments on this tune. It will stay with me my whole life. I wish Stormy would bring back my sunny day. He doesnt even know he took it.
He eventually (2.5 years after the accident) died from injuries resulting from a fall in his home. (He fell down the stairs and fractured his skull, never regaining his former capabilities.) How sad! What a talent!!! Thank you, YouTube, for keeping this great talent alive!!!
@debkwebay>>Hi...thanks for the info about Dennis Yost's demise....it's very sad to know that he died of complications caused by that fall he suffered from several years back.....you see i never realized how good he was...The Classics Four were a famous group in the 60's but i just wasn't aware of how good Dennis was not until now...maybe because i was so young then.... it is only now that i get to appreciate his craft....may he rest in peace...However, his memory will live on forever..thanks
to my close friend tommy donlon, i miss you so much. tommy got run over by a car near his house on 24july 1972, on lake st in waltham mass. when i hear this song i think of him alive. we were 14, we had just got out of 9th grade. tommy donlon 14sept 1957- 24 july 1972. i miss him so much, i wish it was me who got hit , not him, thats when i knew god takes the good first, i miss you so much, love your friend peter from the chesterbrook projects. he is buried in calvery cem, watham mass.

Pat Boone's, a good one. I'd rather see him in there than the newer acts. But Dennis Yost, The Monkees and Tommy James and the Shondells need to be in there. Now...
flipjap88 ... thanks for your email ... I'm going to ask a friend of mine who is an entertainment lawyer how we can get Dennis inducted into the ROCK 'N ROLL HALL OF FAME, where he belongs! It might take a few weeks for my friend to research this. Stay tuned!
They and so many others that deserve to be in the Hall of Fame like Tommy James and the Shondells and the Monkees aren't being inducted in favor of newer artists. So sad. He belongs in there.
This gentleman has a great sense of timing and a voice as smooth as silk but if you listen closely he can belt it out with a lot of power and force. INCREDIBLE VOCALS!!! Music like this is completely timeless. and dont forget the horns in this tune as they are great as well. !!!
man i'm really sorry to hear DY passed away- this guy had a real signature voice....smooth but yet he could also let loose and rock it.....Great songs never die and his talent and spirit will grace the airwaves for eternity !
Once Buddy Buie found their own sound and added the IV to the name, it was a nice late 60's run for the Georgia boys! Dennis had his own voice, second to none if power ballads!
Wow, I did not know Dennis had past away!! You want to talk about an unforgettable voice? Well here is one that if you heard it years ago, will NEVER leave you!! I can't say how sorry I am to see this!!
