  • Sempre gostei desta canção, mas não sabia o nome do cantor !! belíssima voz, excelente canção, bom vídeo !!!

  • This -is one great song!! Just listen to it! Years later still sounds fresh (to me).Hadn't heard it for decades. Something very different about it:

Late 60's My sister had this latest Dennis Yost & Classics 5 locked in her drawer -as sisters do! One day she forgot to lock up I was able to go thru her secret collection of LP's she hid from me: among them 'Stormy' was THE Track!! Thanks for this upload! brings back memories of not only different times -but different places. BA -

  • I love this John legend song!

    ......oh wait.

  • Glad to share. He is missed.

  • @cherylharrell1961 Very nice tribute video. Dennis Yost certainly deserves a well-crafted tribute. His voice and his vocal styling were unique.

  • HE WILL BE MISSED...WHAT A GREAT LOSS...THANKS FOR SHARING THIS TRIBUTE..

  • Thanks so much for the nice comments.

  • Very, very nice. Well done. Thank you.

  • Love those classic, classy oldies. Even the greatest legends of soul tipped their hat to Dennis Yost.

  • Thanks for your nice comments. We were glad to pay tribute to him. We love the oldies.

  • This is a wonderful tribute--thank you for putting it together! Many years ago, I met one of the song's authors, Buddy Buie--a lovely, humble gentleman.

The Classics IV will forever be entwined with the transforming experiences of my youth--thanks for bringing back those sunny days!

  • THat's neat you got to see them live. I bet they were really good.

  • A great group led by Dennis Yost, I saw them in a live performance in 1971.

    RIP Dennis Yost

  • Thanks for the info. I took a video I found and added the music and effects to it.

  • i think dennis is singing "traces" on this tv show. if my memory serves me correctly.

  • This is awesome. I have been into watching storms since I was a little boy. I was in grade school when this song was cut. I have the album I bought it in the 70's.

My deepest sympathy to his family and all of his fans. I heard of his passing on KXMO Cuba Mo. via; night d.j. over the dish from Omaha Ne.

  • He had great bone structure. And a voice that was simply heavenly.

  • If I ever come across it I can post on here. Sadly, I've never seen it anywhere.

  • to all dennis yost followers

  • Sorry to hear Dennis passed away,I am a big fan

  • Glad you liked it...

  • May he rest in peace. He and the Classic IV did some great songs. "Traces" is now a standard and combines so unique strands in music. thanku for posting. 5

  • Still loving you Dennis..

  • Yes, he was a good one.

  • Wow, what a great voice. Great job, Dennis. We'll miss you.

  • I have left so many comments on this tune. It will stay with me my whole life. I wish Stormy would bring back my sunny day. He doesnt even know he took it.

  • What did Dennis Yost die of Cherryl?

  • He eventually (2.5 years after the accident) died from injuries resulting from a fall in his home. (He fell down the stairs and fractured his skull, never regaining his former capabilities.) How sad! What a talent!!! Thank you, YouTube, for keeping this great talent alive!!!

  • @debkwebay>>Hi...thanks for the info about Dennis Yost's demise....it's very sad to know that he died of complications caused by that fall he suffered from several years back.....you see i never realized how good he was...The Classics Four were a famous group in the 60's but i just wasn't aware of how good Dennis was not until now...maybe because i was so young then.... it is only now that i get to appreciate his craft....may he rest in peace...However, his memory will live on forever..thanks

  • Hi Cheryl- you did a very good job on this tribute to Dennis Yost! See you on the Tommy James Message Board! Ron

  • Thanks! Glad you liked it...

  • So sorry to hear about your friend. That is so young. RIP...

  • Glad you liked it & glad to see the original sax player on here. We liked your instrumental version of Spooky as well. Nice job on the sax playing...

  • Wow mhwinokur the sax really gave the Classics IV sound. You guys were/are great ! continued sucess. - a fan.

  • the best ever.

  • He will be missed. I remember listening to this song so many years ago.

  • Hi,

I'm the original sax player on this, and on Spooky.

    Saxman

  • What are you doing these days? You are up there with the likes of Jr. Walker.

  • Hi, and thanks for the interest.

I'm playing with the ex-bass player from a group called The Hoovers. He is Doctor Bombay. We are in San Jose, CA. The music is very original ... kind of like a more modern version of Frank Zappa stuff.

    Saxman

  • Really? How cool! The sax solo on this song is fabulous!

  • Hello mhwinokur I have loved the way that sax sounded on those two songs. God rest Dennis.

  • WOW! You are awesome on this one!! Thanks for the memories!!

  • We LOVE Tommy James and the Shondells. They're one of our favorites...

  • Pat Boone's, a good one. I'd rather see him in there than the newer acts. But Dennis Yost, The Monkees and Tommy James and the Shondells need to be in there. Now...

  • ..loved tommy james & the shondells.

  • flipjap88 ... thanks for your email ... I'm going to ask a friend of mine who is an entertainment lawyer how we can get Dennis inducted into the ROCK 'N ROLL HALL OF FAME, where he belongs! It might take a few weeks for my friend to research this. Stay tuned!

  • I'll sign a petition if anyone's got one rolling around. Not enough good ones getting into the Hall Of Fame

  • They are busy trying to get that weasel Pat Boone elected.

  • They and so many others that deserve to be in the Hall of Fame like Tommy James and the Shondells and the Monkees aren't being inducted in favor of newer artists. So sad. He belongs in there.

  • How do we get them inducted into the ROCK 'N ROLL HALL OF FAME? I'll take up that campaign!

  • you got my vote lets get it rolling maybe we need some signatures or petitions

find out and let us all know so we can all pitch in.

  • This gentleman has a great sense of timing and a voice as smooth as silk but if you listen closely he can belt it out with a lot of power and force. INCREDIBLE VOCALS!!! Music like this is completely timeless. and dont forget the horns in this tune as they are great as well. !!!

  • Amen! And right along with Tommy James and the Shondells and the Monkees. Alot of the good ones never get inducted in the Hall of Fame.

  • Dennis Yost belongs in the ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME along with his fellow band members from The Classics Four !

  • man i'm really sorry to hear DY passed away- this guy had a real signature voice....smooth but yet he could also let loose and rock it.....Great songs never die and his talent and spirit will grace the airwaves for eternity !

  • Once Buddy Buie found their own sound and added the IV to the name, it was a nice late 60's run for the Georgia boys! Dennis had his own voice, second to none if power ballads!

  • mmmm delicious :D

  • that voice!

  • Wow, I did not know Dennis had past away!! You want to talk about an unforgettable voice? Well here is one that if you heard it years ago, will NEVER leave you!! I can't say how sorry I am to see this!!

  • It's "passed", not "past". Illiteracy is a terrible thing.

  • By your LONG rant, you sound like a whiny ass psycho.

  • WE WILL MISS AND LOVE YOU ALAYS DENNIS

  • Wonderful tribute...DY had an amazing voice, will always miss it and just love "Stormy" and "Spooky!"

  • Dennis you are amazing.....this song will always be in my heart. I wish my stormy would bring back the summer day.
