He has a great voice. My only criticism is that I believe the lyrics he writes are slightly mindless. Almost elementary. He doesn't seem very passionate at all about his music. I think his focus is aimed more towards fame and success honestly. Props either way he made it bigger than I have so far.
@kylejmck I think they try to make it like that in order to make it interpretive so everyone can get something different from it. I don't think guys that make it to the top like this are lazy about there work.
@dsac6007 I never said anything about laziness. Anyone can spend all day creating anything. It can be appreciated, but whether or not there is actually any thought and or meaning behind the creation is questionable in some cases. I also know some people's creativity only expands so far, and I think that is the case with the vocalist. Either that or it just comes off as mindless.
@kylejmck well one thing if he was lazy he would just hire writers to write his music. Maybe thats just his style it obiously means a lot to a lot of ppl. But I get what you are saying and I don't really like those songs. I am more a fan of his voice and danger mouse than anything. But transformer really speaks to me.
@kylejmck listen to "Who Cares" and "Charity Case" annnd while you are at it, Listen to Both Gnarls Album's then come back and let us know what you learned. cheers
Why would any guitarist consciously try to play LESS like Jonny Greenwood? Pretty sure he is successful for a reason. And yes, as many have pointed out, he has enough of his own style for RHCP to want him. Or maybe he's good enough at copying other peoples' styles that they want him. Either way he's making a lot of money doing something he loves, moreso than probably anyone commenting on this video :P
i know the song but i cant remember who sings it, i think its rod stewart? im not sure but i use to know the name of the song and everything, not anymore :(
@bartimus283 I'm fairly sure it's a farfisa. Certainly playing around with the VB3 virtual instrument on the "italian transistor" preset I can get a sound pretty close.
He's JOSH Klinghoffer actually. cant deny theres a lot of greenwood going on there, the playing style AND the telecaster! lets face it it aint coincidental. Unless Jonny is supposed to have taken all that from Josh. I dont actually know? maybe he did lol.
the telecaster says nothing, its just the guitar he chose to play that day. i dont know, hes done a lot of different works, so i wouldnt say hes got a very defined style.. and yeahh im totally laghing at my self now.. i guess i was thinking of john frusicante and i wrote that..
You should consider hes movement as enjoying music not copying other guitar players. Johnny and Josh move differently on various tracks. If u wanna talk about copying then you have 10 guys who are original and others are copiers? No way man, its the music that makes those hips bend.
i think we are sayng the same thing. believe me, i am a musician AND an alcoholic! so when i say 'so am i, who cares?' I mean just that. then you agree with me, and tell me to get over myself. merely a misunderstanding of my intentions i think. no harm no foul. cheers!
lol, no this is not a joke, its a jam session at Abbey Road, a studio complex in London, Jason Mraz also does similar live jam sessions, its actually pretty neat to see them chill and just play some good beat
A litteral genius star. Like Demetri Martin, Trent Reznor and Jeff Goldblum. I can relate really well to this song. Gnarles Barkley isn't like most pop bands. These lyrics mean something.
no i havent yet, i was suppose to see them last year but it didnt work out i wish i had though, is it true theyre working on a new album i know cee lo is working on a solo and goddie mob is supposed to drop a new one an i thought i read somewhere that gnarls had a new one..? i fucking hope so
Radiohead, Moby, REM and all these great bands played and hell, Gnarls Barkley had more applause then any off them and they deserved it, it was amazing.
I feel robbed that I am not playing music with something comparable for a group or band

@dsac6007
Example A. "Soulja Boy - Superman" Almost as basic as a song can get. Some people thought it was catchy and liked to sing and dance to it
Example B. "Tay Zonday - Chocolate Rain" It had meaning and talent behind it, but it was a meme. It was not really anything people wanna hear though
