@nickishere12345 well since you asked. It sounds like you plugged a distortion pedal into a transistor radio. Your playing is solid enough, especially since you look young, but yeah your tone is godawful. It's really nasty, grindy, artificial, the highs and spikey and ear splitting and the lows are flubby and not tight at all. Not to sound condescending but I thought my amp sounded okay when I was 15 too, but it actually sucked ass. If you ever find some money, get a 6505, it will blow your mind

so i have the spider 3 75 watt amp with a marshall jackhammer classic distortion pedal, boss metal core, and the floor pod plus with a floyd rose ibanez with 3 EMG's. when i first got it i had a rock band and with the marshall jackhammer it sounded like i was playing through a marshall!! but as our band changed to more metal and "screamo" we all realized how much the sound quality SUCKEDDDD, so if you want to play any shows EVER dont get this amp, although its great for begginers

@dmonks40 Marshalls are great but they're way too expensive. The great Marshall tube amps like the JVM, TSL601, and JCM800 are too loud for bedroom practice. If you're not in a band and you just kinda mess around with Metallica riffs and stuff like that, a Line 6 is perfect. People bag on 'em for sounding like crap, but they do the higher gain stuff really well. You just have to have a good pickup like a JB to keep it from being muddy.

yeah i have the IV, i must say its pretty good. It is .....digital but very good sound but i'd say the IV is more for clean/jass/blues rather than heavy dist. ( but thats just with my guitars/pickups) When your in the room i bet this amp sounds great like mine.

ALL amps sound crap when recorded using the mic on the video camera. Those mics don't have the dynamic range to cope with what comes out of a guitar amp. I will try and post a video and DI the amp straight into the PC while I record the video; there should be a massive difference. I have a Spider IV and in no way is it "fizzy"!

the spider IV and the III are both amazing amplifiers, I played a IV at guitar center today and there awesome.....great tone and everything

you also get a metric ton of effects, the IV has pitch shifting, a new wah thing, and it has a nice body style too

Actually, Slipknot use them as practice amps. You can see them in a couple of videos here on youtube, but these amps i think are no where good enough that a band would use them for a recording of one of their albums. These amps are just good for practice and jamming.

you just need to tune your amp right, what kind of amp model do you own? if its over a 30 watt. use the insane red channel drive: 6 Bass:5 Mid: 12 Treble: 6 try that and see if it still sounds muddy, it should sound more responsive now and a little more powerful, alot of people think that more gain is better but no, thats where your amp sounds muddy, and the bass should be way down, hope it helps. hit me up if it does guys XD

then have the settings as follows

and that should give you a good lamb of god tone.

For people lookin for a very nice tight metal sound, like lamb of god:

i'd say red metal channel, turn the drive and bass a notch or two past half way, the mid about half way or just under half way, and the treble about two or three past halfway.

Don't overdo the drive or it'll turn into mush!
