I have headgear, it's not that bad after a while, but it hurts like hell, and is really sore when, and after you take it off. The reason you wear headgear is for your tip jaw's growth to be restricted/lessened so your bottom jaw can catch up on growth.

Dang! U take FOREVER to put your headgear on! It only takes me a couple seconds and I NEVER use a mirror! I'm not trying to be a jerk by the way:) also, my orthodontist has me put the loop towards the bottom so I guess it differs?

if you have an overbite , do you need headgear ? or is it for jaw ? someone told me it holds back a jaw thats grown over than the other , like if your top jaw is grown more that the bottom , you need headgear to hold it back so the bottom jaw can grow ? , coz my teeth just grew over my bottom teeth..
