Pre-Roll Video Advertising is "Annoying" to Consumers --

Pre-roll ads are an extremely necessary asset to any video maker, as advertising is one of the few fundamental ways for a fledgeling producer of film to guarantee some sort of continuing income. So you can either bitch about 15-30 seconds of your precious, precious time being wasted, or you can realize that it supports the luxury you enjoy and the people who work to bring you media, not just the huge corporations, and stop bitching.

We came to YouTube to avoid this type of crap. They get the views, the smaller channels

don't. They beg you to click the ads just so the get money, hence why channels like Smosh stay in the top spot for quite some time now.

I feel as though they win if I click the back button when a pre-roll ad starts. So I turn the sound off and switch to another tab, do something interesting for a moment, turn the sound on and go back to watch the video I wanted to.

If you are a real fan of content, you will support the creators of that content. It takes money to create the shows you watch, especially those of high quality. Someone has to pay for it and it is better the advertisers do than the consumer, don't you agree?

People who say ads suck are missing the point. Ads are the primary source of revenue for not just Youtube but the creators of the content. We need the revenue in order to make better content and provide better service. It's not hard to sit through a 30 second ad. Ads on TV run much longer.

Advertizing are of no benefit. The benefit is a delusion of the companies who have been talked into producing ads because people BUY because of them. This is total bull-shit.

Advertisers just don't get it. When we come to youtube and click on a video, WE WANT TO WATCH THE VIDEO. We did not click on it to see advertisments popping up or videos playing before we can see what we came to see. After a while it just becomes habit to mute the video or close advertisments without even looking at them. Geez, we don't like commericals on TV where they're expected to be, so why are we going to be thrilled about them interferring with what we're doing online??

I seen some online ad videos automatically play without an option to pause or mute(the buttons were purposely disabled). Another noticeable annoyance is video ads in between online shows(like in hulu)where the volume is much louder than the show. You would have to lower the volume when they pop up, then raise it again when the show continues. In some sites, the text you read will contain words that, if the mouse is rolled over(even accidentally), it will take you to a new link.

I think a site like youtube would be better off making the background wallpaper a static ad (no annoying flashing, no ads inside the video as it's playing). For example, if Mountain Dew just had their logo in the background as a repeated static image, I think people would notice without getting annoyed.

The focus should be on getting the message across without giving us all have A.D.D. as a result of two different things going on at the same time. Catch my drift?
