Ms Bellanca, tis a great pleasure to hear you sing. Ork is right on, too, What the heck, it's Eastman! Am hearing this when it is a very hot summer. So the weather would be the same.
Gosh, horse and buggy days. People sitting on their front porch. Slower-paced, reflective. Nowadays, it's cars racing by. Less communication.
I'd rather scoop up horseshit and have a horse and buggy go by. It's worth it.
What a treat to hear students from Eastman offering such a gorgeous interpretation of one of my favorite works; and Maria- your mom's not half bad on video. Bravi, tutti!
Ms Bellanca: I had the pleasure of hearing you sing this in the middle of Minnesota's lake country this past summer. We've been so fortunate to have you sing for us the past couple of summers. I feel as though we're getting away with something here; someone should report this, should turn us in for enjoying more beauty than a rural location like this deserves. We hope you will return.
Really lovely singing. Would enjoy hearing your reflections on the text, from Agee and what you think Barber and Steber related to it. The other comments about the conductor are true. He really needs to put Thor's Hammer aside and pretend he's making music WITH you, not against you. That you coped so well with him says all the more about your abilities. You really nailed "Now is the night one blue dew",
I think this is so beautiful! The orchestra is fabulous also. Although maybe the conductor shouldn't try to overpower the soprano.?! And maybe he should let her set the tempo. She is really good. so is the orchestra. But the conductor might want to pay attention to following the soloist.
Stunning is an understatement. Wading through other performances of this, I came upon this one and am transfixed. Thank you! I'd love to write something for you!
What a wonderful performance from all! Ms. Bellanca, you not only sing well, but are a musician, and your diction is a flawless pleasure to hear.
Kudos all 'round!

The other comment (singular) is an opinion.
The orchestra does sound good, probably because of the conductor.
A conductor leads what has been practiced in rehearsal during a concert.
The conductor was making music with the soprano and was attentive to her entrances and rhythm.

The conductor, orchestra and conductor are together the entire time.
The soloist is setting the tempo.
