I travelled 3 hrs to knowsley to see about 20 minutes of this and other lazily played arse. I'm afraid the drummer turned this song into a slapstick nightmare on the whole tour, it needs to be on the beat and energetic not lazy and sloppy. Wasn't all bad tho they can still play when they can be arsed
You lot are confusing bad sound quality with poor performance. This was a typiclly fantastic McNabb performance massacred by crap picture and sound quality on this clip. He's always done the Magic Bus interlude. So what if he didn't attempt the high notes here - if you want perfection listen to the record. This was live and real.

No mate, sorry - you're wrong. This is fucking AWFUL. McNabb sounds like he's singing in a bucket, and the drums?? Jesus Christ, Chris Sharrock would be spinning in his grave, if he was dead. I adore The Icicle Works but this is an absolute travesty....
travesty? ... this is a gawd awful mess! If it wasn't McNabb these people would have been thrown off stage! I've seen this before with some of the greatest talented 80's bands. This is called, "I"m drunk and wasted and couldn't give a **ck" about you people and this music! Very sad!
At least we can tell that Ian's voice is still as strong as ever. But it used to be that his worst atrocity in a Live "Birds Fly",was to duck the high note during "sends us on our way".Sometimes he would talk thru it,and he didnt even attempt it here.A self-indulgent massacring I'm afraid. And that's a shame, because he doesn't need to be so lazy - nor is he Sinatra,so he can't justify it either. Thankyou for sharing - always interesting to see personal new Live captures.cheers
Nice one! I think I was just to the left of you hollering this chorus with my kids looking at me strangely! Icies were the soundtrack to my alternative youth. thanks for this. L.
Now listen to the original here on youtube-the rythm and beat just do not fit on this

I love Ian McNabb and Icicle Works, but I have to say that this performance is unimpressive.

I was on my own watching this as my kids never heard of him but I still think he is great.
He could have played more of the hits though but never mind.
Brilliant.lot of the background noise is me singing I think.
