not enough , use garrus as the company leader, and jack or samara for seeker swarms, send mordin back and legion for hacking (in the shaft)i, then I assure you you'll sav everyones life. Don't make thane leading a group and don't use Miranda against seeker swarms (she is so willing but not capabl enough)

It makes sense, though. Saren had a rare moment of control over himself again, but he knew he was already lost to Sovereign's influence, so he killed himself while he still had control over his mind.
