  • HEY I LIVE IN NORTH EAST PA. I'll have to head to radio shack and get one of these things.

  • I live near Toronto, Canada. Working on receiving this on my Realistic DX-380.

  • If anyone reads the wiki on UVB-76, it's technically a numbers station even though it only stops occasionally for live voice number transmissions. The buzzer is supposed to be an actual buzzing clock that goes into a live mic, because voices are occasionally heard. Watch these:

    v=YatKCf42TrM

    v=jOWExpS6q0c

    v=9mH77Wu0_eY

    v=pAbeGSa_Xh8

It *COULD* be a lot of things, but it's officially an atmospheric research station.

  • it was a civil defense system used by the russians during the cold war, similiar to our emergency brodcast system i guess it was never turned off

  • I live in Brazil I can capture that radio signal? thanks for RESPONSE

  • I live near Port Alberni about 50 miles south east of Mount Washington and alot lower in altitude. I can actually see mount washington in the far distance on a clear sunny day where I live. I guess the higher altitude on the moutain makes it easier hear it. so far I have not been able to hear it yet in my locatioin as of yet.I run a 70 foot random long wire to my dx390 and sw cystal radio.

  • I have been tuning my radio (a DX390 as well) to 4625khz since november 2010 when I first learned of its existance. I live on Vancouver Island British Columbia Canada so far i have not been able to hear it yet but I did pick up some sort of electronic data signal kinda like a clucking chicken sound, something I have heard on many SW frequencies since the 80s. I dont think it was the buzzer though.

  • @rEdf196 O: where on Van Island? apparently it can be heard on Mount Washington?

  • @DanielChristy19 Actually 100 over

  • @avi8r1 really? what part of Australia?

  • Will someone please tell he what numbers stations can be reached in southwestern Ohio? I figured I should be able to get this, but no go...

  • @HarvestmanMan you have to scan on your shortwave radio

  • @GMSamuelRhine Yeah, I know that, but I've tried every frequency it's appeared on, but nothing yet...

Maybe it's because I'm using a portable radio with a stock telescoping antenna. >.> Yeah, that'd be it...

  • @HarvestmanMan yeah probly. you should try stading somewhere with out many buildings. cuz i got a Grundig g8 and it picks up great when im outside. and it did in my old apartment building too with 2 floors above me

  • Good catch!

  • Nuclear Launch Detected...

    FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • instead of it being a switch when it cuts off missles shoot america...it could just be russia testing out there ability to loop a buzzer 25 times a minute for 32 years

  • where the hell is this being brodcasted from?

  • @redghost105 mother fucking russia,if the buzzer stop,100 nuclear missiles will hit the united states its a dead man switch look it up

  • @ilias2oo6 well i would hope they have the switch marked or somthin...just in case the janitor comes and tries to turn of the light but ends up blowing up america

  • @ilias2oo6 its thought to be a dead man switch....for all we know it could be just some radio station that russia put up to scare the shit out of americans......and one day they shut it off just to laugh and say FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLED YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU

  • @redghost105 about 45KM north of moscow

  • @ilias2oo6 very, say, can you confirm voices heard over the station around 7/23/10?

Im thinking i heard something, but for all I know my folks slipped a recording into the slot

  • @geckorus10 the russian numbers ? i heard em too idk what they were about

  • @ilias2oo6 some spy code, used circa 1950

  • @ilias2oo6 oh theres a translation for it. it was russian phoenetic aplhabet than the letter for all of them said together NAIMINA

  • @GMSamuelRhine There was also BROMAL

  • @UnixBoy75 ah yes i recall that as well. thanks for reminding

  • If its a radio dead man's switch wouldn't it be easy to jam and see what would happen? Wikipedia says "The transmitter power is approximately 10 kW and backup power is 2.5 kW, which is used from 7:00 to 7.50 UTC" so in that interval someone could just jam and arm the supposed nuclear missile right? I know nothing about radio so bear with me :P

  • @Aqlor they wouldn't need to test it with voice if they could hear the tone. it may have a secondary use for voice transmissions, possibly as a numbers station of a lesser importance. given the scarcity of voice transmissions on the frequency, the few known voices heard were probably codes within the government department using it

  • ... also on frequency 4663 and 4701 kHz ... a look my video

  • look waht i found threw reaserch about these things...Broadcast over Irkutsk Irkutsk allows us to shut our demonstration nakautiruyuschego strike. Show Dao in Irkutsk at the bottom of the city

  • If I was a world leader, I would make something like UVB-76 just to fuck with everybody.

  • I get it in Las vegas on 4625 KHz

  • It's not part of the Dead Hand system. If that were the case, someone could start thermonuclear war by jamming the signal, since Dead Hand would only listen for that particular carrier. The Russians wouldn't allow themselves to be compromised that easily, especially given the absolute certainty of mutually assured destruction as the outcome of a Russian first strike.

It's Doppler, used to ping the ionosphere for research.

  • @brotherbosco :P I was searching this videos for a comment just like yours, that was my idea. Jamming the signal would arm the nuclear weapon if this was like this. What I don't understand its that being a Doppler why did it broad-casted numbers and names etc? Testing purposes?

  • THE BUZZER STOPPED!

  • IT STOPPED!

  • THE BUZZER JUST STOPPED

  • Well that's not a good dead hand. What if they blew up Russia and some one else just broadcasts the same thing over that frequency?

  • Wow, that's not bad considering the distance. How faint could you hear it?

  • What happens when it stops?

    Hammertime?

  • @kjun13

    Real Soviet Damage happens

  • i cant faintly hear it from hamilton ontario canada

havnt really tried it late at night though

  • Awesome! Has anyone had success monitoring the buzzer in Texas with a small handheld unit? Is a large antenna needed?

  • If it turns off, it either means Russia is pissed and has launched their nuclear missiles or it means that the launch facility is screwed.

  • @anpe1001

    it's actually the same.

    we're all gonna get screwed.

  • you know I'll bet there are people whose entire job is to monitor spooky stuff like this.

This station has broadcast numbers before, but highly rare

  • lol, what is this?

  • @russian1mafia they say its part of the russian "dead hand" system if the signal stops it means the government has been overthrown and an automated nuclear strike will begin due to nobody officially being able to give the OK for nuclear strike.

  • You think the Buzzer is scary? If the buzzer turns off, WE ARE FUCKED!

  • rofl

  • Exactly its a "dead mans switch" thats theory one, 2 "where its broadcast is beside the martial law building, so what others and i think along with the dead mans switch theory its a martial law indicator"

  • Lols, I don't know about that - try it on a cheap radio. The signal drops out most of the time but when you can hear it is definitely transmitting information. I think the Monotonous Buzzer is just a carrier wave or placeholder for the information-bearing signal, which is very similar and on the same channel.

I've noticed it swamp the entire waveband as well (unless its just my crap radio), either way the signal definitely varies in strength - part of the information that's being imparted?

  • @2thpic win.

  • @2thpic FUCK...it did stop

  • @2thpic guess we are fucked

  • @2thpic The Buzzer did turn off.

  • @2thpic it turned off on saturday night

3.9.5.3.9.5.7.0.4 Радиопередача закончилась 3.9.5.3 .9.5.7.0.4 (radio transmission ended) started back up in 30 min

  • @2thpic I know this is an old post but this is relevant to my intrests. Might I ask why we would be quote "fucked" if the buzzer stopped?

  • @zombiehunter96 Deadman's Switch.

  • @Ascendancy1992 Yeah I read up on it after I watched this.

  • @2thpic get your soup cans and drinkin water, im gettin static followed by a russian voice, either im listening to a recording, or he mentioned chemicals being emptied into somehere...

  • @2thpic

I was really scared when i was listening it alone,in my home at 9pm xD

  • @2thpic why do you say that?

  • @2thpic looks like we already are cuz theres a vid on here of it stopping the buzzing

  • @2thpic I know this reply is a bit late, but how are we fucked? What is the buzizng for? I googled it but didnt find much...

  • @UnixBoy75

it's assumed to be a dead man's switch, but that's only a theory. When the buzzer is on, everything is ok. If the transmission should stop unexpectedly, the transmission site and the buildings of the general staff next to it might have been destroyed. In the latter case, Putin might decide to fuck up the world.
