I honestly don't get the fascination with Jordan when there's Bird. I watch the Jordan vids and its checkers. Run, jump, shoot (dont pass, maybe get a phony and one from Stern). Bird is out there playing chess, doing it all and with a much sweeter touch on his shots.
Sure like these basketball shorts better! The uniforms players wear today are so long and baggy they look like fools. Lets see some leg again. Glory of the Bird days!
Bird was the greatest of all time. His rivalry with Magic was the greatest rivalry of any sport in history. Bird owned Jordan every time without a doubt. Bird avg. a double double in the 1st 6 years of his career Jordan had 0 in his whole career.
Dude LMFAO and I got to agree I was a huge Jordan fan since I do believe he had some great skill but Larry were just phenominal I mean he took some shots and passes that you just don't see anymore and he had a shooting game unlike the players of today. All and all Bird > Jordan imo
No matter what color, he was at the very least in the top 5 players of all time. Simply a great competitor with the heart of a lion. He will go down as the shining example of work ethic and underdog fight in basketball. Larry legend.
Hey bassman5123 and ShouldBeMedicated! Of course Bird would be a starter if he played today. Take a look at all those idiots in the NBA who are starters and compare their skills to Bird's skills.
It makes you wonder if a guy like Larry Bird would even be a starter in the NBA these days. He was the best team player of all time. There isn't another guy in history that could shoot as well as he did and still be as unselfish as he was. This is coming from a Rockets fan.
ShouldBeMedicated, What makes you wonder if Bird would be a starter in the NBA today? Most experts put him in their starting five of all time. Despite his inferior athleticism, Larry had skills & intangibles that were more often than not, just to much for the opposition to overcome. He's wasn't truly the most unathletic player of his era, but he was blessed with size @ 6'9".
ShouldBeMedicated, I read your entire post, but found it misleading. I know that you were complementing Bird, but I don't understand how one could even suggest that any present NBA team wouldn't want him in their starting lineup, just because the current trend is selfish play. The players and coaches still want to win, but most have been taught the wrong way. They just need a leader like Larry, Magic, Stockton, Isiah, etc.
