  • Thanks, MattyBoy! Beautiful language, and easy to follow for an animation novice. I am tempted to ask you (cos I havent been able to find out on my own): how do I save it, including the "forever" loop...?

  • @sollidball

Thanks for your comment. You can save as a PSD if you want to come back to edit it, or a GIF if you want to display the graphic on the web etc. If you want more information, go to my website which has an extended version of this video. Hope that helps.

  • @JesusRemix

    I recorded this in CS2

  • What if you have Photoshop Elements?

I'm pretty sure there should be a animation panel on Elements...

  • @MultiMoonkitty

It doesn't have an animation panel but you can find some controls for creating frames inside the 'Save for Web' option.

  • THX! It helpt :D i asked soo many people but they coudn't explain how it's done... I'm happy that i found this tutorial ;)

  • @KawaiiDarkJewel itll automatically com with the Photoshop 7

  • Very helpfull, very clear, but what is image ready please

  • Thanks, Imageready is a separate application that shipped with Photoshop. I say 'shipped' because it's now integrated into Photoshop itself.

    Hope that helps

  • Yeah it does, all clear now thanks for the help. Maybe you will go a bit deeper into the animation technoques of PShop.

  • Thanks a lot Matty Boy, this was just great for us PS noobs. Well done,

  • Thanks, I appreciate it!

  • can I do it in 7.0?

  • I don't think so...

  • nvm.

    i found a way

  • i edited the file using adobephotoshop 6.0

i then made it an animation with adobe image ready.

i want to export this file to make it a GIF. the export font is grey and unclickable. (you know, the dreaded unavailiable font)

the only saving option is photoshop PSD

    HOWEVER

there is a little bar under my window for my animation that says

    84.3k/13.7k GIF

does that mean its already a GIF?

if not, how do i export it to become one?

if not, i cant export it

  • Im using photoshop 7 imageready and I cant use the export function, because its grayed out. What should I do?

  • im trying to make an animation and when i paste a muzzle flash it goes on all of the frames. please help! just message me!

    THANX!!

  • What happens if you want to animate with two different pictures?

  • thanks a lot

  • very helpful, thanks

  • Can u do this with Photoshop Elements 6.0?

  • maybe... if your Elements has an Animation pallet

  • Unfortunately, Elements does not support animation. You either need Imageready or Photoshop CS3 or higher

    Hope that helps

  • CS2 works too

  • hi matt, the propagate was not highlighted because the layer was a background so i changed it to a layer then i was able to switch the propagate on and off but still does the same thing. does it matter what format the picture is in? thanks for getting back to me.

  • hi matt, great video's...im trying to do this with an image already made but when i duplicate selected frame it duplicates but every time i change the picture it changes all of them...if u know wot i mean?? can u help?

  • Sounds like an issue with the propagate option in the layers panel? Try switching it on and off, see if it makes a difference?

  • what if you use PNG?

  • PNG's a great fomat but doesn't support animation

  • What version of photoshop is that? My 5.0 doesn't have the animation/image ready stuff... :(

  • 5.0? Geez your behind.

You need CS or above (version 9).

  • CS4

  • Depends on the guidelines on the site you're trying to upload it to. Most sites have a size and dimensions policy.

  • this thing has saved me so many times XD thanks a lot chuckyhun!

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks dude works great i favorited it and rated 5 stars and subed : )

  • Great. Thanks very much!

  • whenever you save as in photoshop the video stop flashing tho.. Help?

  • Not too sure what you mean, do you mean when you reopen the file in Photoshop?

  • what is your save as type?

  • GIF using Save for Web if required

  • What happens if you use JPEG?

  • You'll only save the one active layer. JPEG does not support animated files unfortunately.

  • Whenever i try to upload the picture it says file is to big

  • Upload the picture to where, and what is the size?

  • 1200x1000 is that to big?

  • Depends what the site guidelines say?

  • hi, thanks for the video, really helped :) just 1 question is it possible to save animation in .bmp? if so than how? :(.. you know that i could use it for avatars and such :)

  • Hey there,

Nope I'm afraid not. BMP does not support frame-based files. You need to use GIF or Flash.

    Good luck

  • :( ok thanks for the tutorial anyway :) realy useful

  • thnxs

  • I tryed tweening, with a circle- I made the two frames, on opposite sides, the same size and shape, and then I clicked the tweening button, clicked all layers, and clicked motion. I set it to 5 extra frames. It made 5 middle frames, but they are all the same as the first. NO change? Do you think you know whats wrong?(and i selected the two i wanted to tween)

  • Do you but photoshop in shops? I'm so confused please someone explain it to me!!

  • thank you that was very helpful.

  • aww i don't have cs2 i have 5.5 TT-TT

is there still a way to animate stuff?

  • Hi there,

    What is TT-TT?

  • A Sad emoticon i think, there are many of them like:

    :( or T_T or ;(

  • The lines under the horizontal top on the T represent streams of tears. x3

Also, I've been having the same issue as a few people who've commented. Both frames change when I'm only editing the second. Propagate's turned off, but it still happens.

  • when i save mine

when i open it its not animating?

    what will i do

    sory 4 d wrong grammar

  • Hi there,

What format are you saving to?

  • You have to save for web and devices not save as or save.

  • dang and i was doing it the hard way in image ready the whole time when i have cs2

  • thanks, this helped a lot.

but uh, how do I have 2 different files opened at the same time? Because everytime I open a new image for the animation, my old image would disappear...

    Please help. ]:

  • Sounds like when you're opening a new image it's opening over the top of the previous one. Go to Windown>Cascade or press the letter F on the keyboard to scroll through the various screen modes. You can also use CTRL + TAB to scroll through the open images.

Good luck, and thanks for your comment!

  • is there a way to make the them fade away into another?

  • Yes, select the two frames you'd like to apply a crossfade to, then press the tweening button. Add the desired amount of frames to make the transition smooth and you're done. There's more info on tweening on the full version of this video available for free on the 3photoshop website.

  • omgsocool

  • Thank you so much, I've been looking forever on how to do this, I was wondering why it wouldn't let me save.

  • Glad it helped!

  • thanks a lot for ur help (Y)

  • Cool thanks it helped a lot! But i just got one question: How u change the background colour?

  • Add a layer to the bottom of the layers palette and fill with the colour of your choice, you can then play around with individual frames by selecting them and turning the new layer on or off with the eyeball control in the layers palette.

    Hope this helps!

  • Thanks :)

  • thanks a lot :)

  • cool
