  • in the netherlands the medium wave was the best to receive, remember stan haag, peter koelewijn, etc.

  • wonderful memories, thank you very much for posting

  • One thing thats always turned me off about British pop/rock radio is the obsession with the inane `personality` DJ, who loves his own voice, talks incessantly about nothing, constantly interrupts songs and plays constant stupid jingles. Even as a kid the only thing that was important to me was the music. Still is. Lucky I was a rock, not a pop kid! Unfortunately records used to cost more than radio batteries!

  • fab recording

  • R.Luxembourg also used 49.26m 6090kHz Shortwave to reach international listeners.

  • @AnthonyUK You'r right Antony but I didnt had shortwave receiver at that time.

    Greetings from Holland.

  • This brings back memories of the early 60s. Hard to believe that this station was the only one playing pop music that could be heard in Britain - and only in the hours of darkness! I remember that the reception in the North of England was poor, lots of fading and interference. There were no UK commercial radio stations or Radio One, and Radio Caroline didn't start up till 1964.

  • Thank you brilliant memories!
