  • You're the goale that's your job Curtis...

  • Thank Clint Benidict for the mask.

  • Cujo stunk every year in playoffs for Blues except 93 when he only sucked in this Game 7. For Oilers, 1st round upsets of Stars in 97 and Avs in 98 only to be destroyed by Roy and crushed by Belfour in 2nd rounds each year. For Leafs, totally outplayed by Hasek in 99 Conf Final, poor play in key games led to losses in 2000 and 2001 2nd round series to NJ, 3 OT losses sunk the team against Canes in 02 Conf Final. For Wings, very good but unequal to brilliance of Giguere in 03 or Kiprusoff in 04.

  • @industrialsun It wasnt poor play against the devils. He was amazing in those series and equal to Brodeur (and this was when brodeur was in his prime). However Brodeur had a better team in front of him so they won the series

  • @fatso2992 Actually, Cujo outplayed Brodeur for most of 2000 & 2001 playoff series & NJ did have superior defensive team but Joseph stumbled at key moments each year. In 2000 he had rough Game 2 & gave up bad gamewinning goal to Madden in Game 5 (to be fair, it may have deflected off defenseman Yushkevich's stick). In 2001 he had another bad outing in Game 2 & one of few times he got outplayed by Brodeur was in Game 6 when Leafs had chance to clinch on homeice. Cujo was a little overrated.

  • WHAT A SAVE!

  • who's that jerk talking to Cujo at :45? I'm no lip-reader, but he seems to be saying "I'll get them next round for ya."

  • @pajinski1 That is exactly it. Fraser told Cujo " Don't worry ill fuck'em in the next round.

  • Boom. Headshot.

  • this was easily the best playoff series I had ever watched

  • Mlg reaction haha where's walshy?

  • those were thre days when the leafs could win games 5-0

  • Clark had a wicked slapshot too! Not the only one of his career!

  • A couple guys like Wendel Clark? If only they existed!

  • i miss those commentatres.

  • This was an obvious head shot, I love it, Cujo was was shit after this shot, he couldnt do aything after this, Clark was such a great player, Leafs need a couple guys like him, guts, heart, courage and that touch of nastiness. Thanks for it all Wendel!

  • Fact: That was the only slapshot of Wendel's career

  • On a related note, this was the only actual slapshot Wendel took in his entire NHL career.

    Hilarious!

  • @soupmaster23 haha no it wasn't.

  • AND THE MASK SAVES CURTIS JOSEPH'S LIFE

  • I asked Wendel why Cujo was all pissed off at him after that hard shot...he said "I dunno, maybe he was embarrased that his hat fell off in front of millions of people".

Wicked wicked wrist shot from one of the toughest ever to play the game.

  • I don't know how many old timers are around on this page, but to those of you who are, isn't the difference in atmosphere between Maple Leaf Gardens and the ACC astounding? No other stadium in hockey was as electric as M.L. Gardens. Not even the Montreal Forum. Chicago stadium, Boston Gardens and the old Spectrum in Philly came close, but none topped it. ACC is such a dead husk in comparison. Shame for you young cats who never saw the Leafs in the gardens, especially during the playoffs.

  • @OneEyedKeys Some people arent old enough unfortunately

  • @OneEyedKeys ..The Chicago Stadium was the best, I've been to both in the heyday and the Stadium was far and away the loudest. No contest

  • @rjst09 Quite possibly. Chicago did have that tremendous organ! I remember those days. Do you recall the electricity when Bobby Hall would make a break down the wing? It's a shame that these stadiums are not around, and a bigger shame that they designed the new ones to be carbon copies of each other with no unique attributes. Boston Gardens was the most intimate, and Maple Leaf Gardens had the distinction of the 'Blues" seats at either end zone that had fans almost literally above the net.

  • @OneEyedKeys ..Very true, the atmosphere is not the same. I remember standing room sections in Chicago. That was a noisy bunch! The new stadiums are also way too expensive to buy a ticket!

  • @rjst09 Indeed my friend. Those are the(almost)forgotten times when a kids could buy tickets with paper route money, or a father could bring his family without having to take a loan. I don't know what it's like in Chicago nowadays, but the entire lower bowl in Toronto is all for business class season ticket holders. I was last there by a contact with a high level Exec, and remember sitting in an empty section for most of the game as everybody else was in the cocktail lounge networking. Horseshit!

  • classic moment

  • did they retire his mask? :P

  • Wendel Clark was such an awesome player. Toronto needs guys like him and Doug Gilmour to play again.

  • Clark is a tank

  • It's good to see Joseph get it like that. He was such a dirty rotten son of a...hahaha, just kidding! Joseph is a great guy! One of the best guys in hockey.

  • And a shot from 31 feet out. Harry Neale rules.

  • I've been looking for this for a long time. Thanks for posting!

  • The info makes no sense how could the leafs be playing a team in the western conference in the second round of the playoffs

  • Makes plenty of sense. What's the issue?

  • @kiefershizzle Before the last set of expansion, the Leafs were in the Western Division. (Ahh, the good ol' days!) It was during Ken Dryden's presidency of the club that Toronto moved to the east. (I want to say late 90's but don't quote me on that)

  • @HuskerDu2 You are right late 90s Im pretty sure it was when the Jets moved to phoenix so 97-98 because in 95-96 that prick kypreos took out my Blues goalie Grant Fuhr then the next season Twist fought him then the year after that is when they moved

  • @kiefershizzle in '93 they did not yet have Western and Eastern Conferences. It was "Campells Conference" and "Whales Conference" . not sure why but Toronto played LA in those playoffs. It was kind of weird back then.

  • down goes joseph ,down goes joseph.down goes joseph

  • wendal's slapshot is legendary. it will neverbe duplicated

  • Well, Wendel is more revered for his wrist shot than his slapper since he doesn't take many and may be that's why people are arguing about it.

Guys like Gilmour and Gretzky who are 120lbs soaking wet need to take slappers to get any kind of decent velocity so had you said his wrist shot was legendary, then we'd be in agreement.

  • @supercooled ya

  • lmfao i wish the leafs were this good still xD

  • "and the mask saves Josephs life" hahhahahhaha

  • why would you write "the only slapshot wendy ever took" when in your next clip it clearly shows him winding up at center scoring on belfour? Stupid leafs fan. have fun golfing early april AGAIN losers

  • Yes, the Leafs will be golfing in April EVERY year from now on, would you like it that way???:-p

  • What?c

  • you're an idiot.

  • Joseph Probably couldn't hear anything for a few seconds...or feel anything on his face.

  • I remember this so well. Being elated by the Leaf lead (perhaps their best playoff run post '67), I couldn't help but feeling terrible for Joseph when that shot was fired. Wow! Anybody's bell would be ringing. Happy retirement Cujo! Nicely done!

  • Was that a 5 I seen by Toronto's name? I'm surprised Toronto is allowed to have that high of a numba

  • numba?

  • that description made me die of laughter. I completely overlooked most of it, like giles, shadowing cujo, but i can't see it any other way now. LOL.

  • Been there done that. I started with no mask at all and got 12 stiches. After that 3 concussions and 2 KOs. Net minding is the best pos. to play!

  • Yeah, fans that consistently boo their own players out of town are great fans.

Even Carey Price, the latest Patrick Roy-esque saviour.

  • I feel so bad for price. That kids development was hampered so bad by how the montreal fans treat him.

  • Yea, cause great fans boo their own goalie for letting in 4 goals, where only 1 was his fault (and it shouldn't have even counted - offside). Not only are Leaf fans better, they're smarter too. If Habs fans were half as smart as Leaf fans, they would have booed the Defence (if booing anyone at all)

  • LOL! awesome description DGB. i've been a leaf fan since the calgary/toronto trade in 92. this series was one of my fav's ever. even though cujo was the opposing goalie, i loved watching him play. seeing what he did against washington at the end of the year really reminded me of this series. he was unbeatable.

  • haha wow

  • "And the mask saves Curtis Joseph's life". I love Harry Neale. Leaf broadcasts have been 50% worse without him. Millen sucks. He isn't a homer, he isn't funny and 70% of his comments begin with: "When I was playing..."

  • @RobViper3 Totally agree with you, dude...totally agree!

  • @RobViper3 im millen go fuck yourself retard!!

  • @ele7y You do sound like him.

  • youre millen ahahhahaha

  • @RobViper3 "He isn't a homer..." That's a problem??!! We need fewer "homers" in the broadcast booth...more like, we need NONE!

  • what a shot!

  • EPIC
