This is great, the duratrax vehicles dont break that much, i am a basher and i bash very rough with my evader st that all i did to it was got a speed gems motor in it and a ball differential and ive never broken it except for the shocks
this truck, is insanely fun....i love how its almost un-breakable if u dont abuse it. it will take alot of torture and it may be slow. but brushless will help that.
I broke it in three days. Granted, I was doing bicycle ramps in my yard. First thing to break was the power switch. It unmounted from the chassis on a bad landing. Second thing was the power regulator/converter thing on the right side. Next day. Third thing was the red cord came out of the power switch. I fiddled with it and in five minutes had knocked a bolt out of the chassis right under the motor. I put that back in and taped the wire to the on/off switch. Then I tore the gears out of it.
@haydugjr392 I think i tore the gears, at least. This is my first truck, I'm more interested in dirt bikes. It started making a funny noise while I was doing swerves on the tennis court. It sounded like a gearbox fucking up, so I picked it up and looked. Couldn't see anything wrong, so I went to a friend and hit the gas a few times with it in my hand for him. He couldn't figure it out either. Fourth or fifth rev it made a noise and the wheels quit spinning. A closer look at the motor revealed th
@haydugjr392 that the small gear coming out of the motor was about about .75 cm from the gear connected to the wheels. Any idea what I should do? I used to have a Traxxas nitro one but couldn't handle the upkeep so I traded it for this one. I haven't talked to the previous owner yet to figure out exactly what he put this thing through, but I know he drives it on a few local tracks.
@haydugjr392 It sounds as if the motor has slightly moved due to bad landings and the mesh between the pinion and spur gear is too far apart. This happens with most electric vehicles after multiple hard landings/wrecks. Simply loosen the motor mount screws and set the mesh between the pinion and spur gear. You most likely damaged the spur gear by driving it with incorrectly set mesh and will probably have to purchase a new gear.
@haydugjr392 A larger spur gear/smaller pinion will give you more acceleration, less speed. This is typically good for bashing as the motor will run a little cooler, run times will increase slightly, and you'll have more acceleration/torque to get through rough terrain.
Now thats what i call a excellent review video, the article is very good to. Not just some fancy track running.. you guys really showed what many wonder about after reading other reviews.. How durable is the truck? You show exactly how durable it is lol. The drivers stand drop, jump and curb hits were hilarious but really show how durable that truck is lol.
@firesprink281 yeh i read the full review and it seems like a great truck! dunno about going brushless like the tranny but i really think it'd be a great intro car for my dad. but he says "i won't find time to use it".
what is a good way to convince him that he wants one?
bring him to a bash. we have a big bash every year. we even do weekend bbq bashes that are a blast! its a chance to show what these little trucks can do. not just run on a track, but fly off a jump at top speed. and that trucks can be customized. bigger, faster, higher!
Oh man I just ordered one of these babies online, and I can't watch all the torture tests!
I sure as hell don't plan to test mine like this! But thanks for the reference!

@steemy2 Thank you very much. Any suggestions for different gearing for bashing around the house (since I;m replacing it anyways)?

I'm considering getting the shock towers, body, wheels, etc. to put on my brushless ST. The A-Arms are the same length, right?

It uses truck towers but buggy arms, dogbones rod ends
