I remember Judy Blume books were the first books I read after reading childrens books, I mean my first chapter books were the judy blume books, I adored reading from that moment on.. and to this day I love reading, and would love to be a writer someday as well. Judy Blume has inspired many authors I'm sure.

How sad that women back in the 70s could only really make their mark through writing. There are so many more opportunities for women today in so many more spheres. But this doesn't mean there will be more women of acclaim today than a few decades ago.

Sweet revenge is what I would call this, being bestowed this wonderful honor, considering so many of her wonderful books that I grew up with wound up being banned in so many schools. It goes to show that honesty has also fallen under the category of political incorrectness. I grew up with Margaret, Deenie, Davey, all the wonderful characters Mrs. Blume gave life to. Now I'm the mother of a 10-year-old daughter, and I'll be introducing to her the wonder that is Judy Blume. Thank you, Mrs. Blume!
