  • Good Video.... check out my page for the video I made.

  • @Windsweptzariel According to the book by Joan Quigley, the child's burial vault buried at the corner of Park & Locust contains a Bible, lumps of coal, a miner's carbide lamp, a copy of the town's centennial souvenir book, & a chronological recitation of the town's history.

  • now thats what happens if you do secret experiments that have a very high chance of *failing*

  • I would have taken that teddy berry a saved it to see if I will get haunted a just to keep that place in my memory.

  • I can't believe I've lived in Pennsylvania my whole life and never heard of this place until today.

  • 9:12 I'd be afraid that pieces of that broken roof might fall down on my head.

  • Awsome music selection !

  • 4 years and they'll open the vault. I wonder what's in it.

  • Cool video! If I had only known about that place when I lived up there around Lehighton... Hafta check it out if I ever get the chance to visit

  • 1:16 : Travis in his truck getting out of there!

  • Comment removed

  • will you return in 2016 to open the vault?

  • I just watched another video about Centralia, PA and it had the exact same music.

  • i would probably visit, totally not fearing the ground caving but some of it that had been graffittied (lol) on and had cracked afterwards; wow that was scary! really neat!

  • Slender Man can save 20% off poo. Do you have $20?

  • @toshicoski I care for my daughter very much, as well as my parents and my daughter's best friend who accompanied us. Our time on Wood Street and the abandoned stretch of Hwy 61 amounted to less than an hour, and the danger to my daughter was way less than all the x-rays and brain scans she received in the past 14 years at UVa as a result of her congenital diaphragmatic hernia. How many chemicals have you eaten in the meat that came from the friendly neighborhood factory farm? Have a nice day.

  • This place is more gassy than Prypiat?

  • @MAMsMom97 I agree

  • Get the picture. ? It is not just some coal fire. Many have disappeared and their remains can be found at the bottom of abandoned mine/air shafts in the form of rat poop which have devoured everything, including the bones.

  • I for one appreciate your interest however your venture was very foolish, and including a minor was certainly not in the child's best interest. Pehaps one day you may have Centralia to thank for cancer, leukemia or some other nightmare. The entire "Region" is toxic including areas outside Centralia the Government deems safe. This would include but not limited to the land ,air, water and wildlife. There are at least three secret mines nearby that yield uranium and industrial grade diamonds.

  • @toshicoski

    Oh just stfu plz.

  • @toshicoski

    Oh just stfu plz.

  • @toshicoski Oh just stfu plz.

  • the music ruins it lol

  • Im going to move there! Looks like a good place to retire

  • To everyone reading this message- Walking around in Centralia is EXTREMELY dangerous- more dangerous than Chenobyl (because Chernobyl's radiation levels have dropped a a lot). That smoke you see, it toxic, and can kill you. Some parts of Centralia, where there is a lot of smoke can be very hot, and give you third degree burns. Also, come ground in Centralia can collapse, and the fire from years ago is still roaring today.

  • be lucky you guys didn't hear a siren on your visit to the real silent hills ;D

  • creepy

  • This was not worthy of the epic music.

  • from 1,000 people to 11 that's sad

  • 0:34 i see 666 oh oh thats not good

  • You could atleast use a different song. Jesus christ one of the most overused songs ever came from a movie about drug addiction.

  • I think it's weird that like only 10 people live in the city.

  • 1:15,Travis Grady just escaped from fog world :D

  • @kenkenha824 -.-

  • Silent Hill inspired from centralia

  • alive sillent hill!!!!

  • What were those crosses made for at the church, handicap centipedes ??

  • It's true what they say, the fire still burns from hell underneath that catastrophe.

  • I was going to say I would write "WELCOME TO SILENT HILL :3" But... Then I saw @LadyYuzuki s comment, ¬.¬ I fail in comparison to that...

  • I would totally draw the Halo of Sun and the Seal of Samael on the road LOL

Hopefully, SH fans will know what those are.

  • really good documentary--centralia sounds like australia--the back end of the world-well done on this clip--keep up the good work-last i heard-there was only 10 people there--thx again

  • AND THEY SUDDENLY STUMBLE OUT OF THE RECKAGE INTO THE ABANDONED TOWN OF ..................SILENT HILL

  • WELCOME TO SILENT HILL BUT REMEMBER ONCE YOU GO IN YOU CAN NEVER COME OUT.

  • It seems odd that people are drawn to this. Someone could make a killing just giving guided tours of Centralia, Pa.

  • ive been there the highways pretty cool with all the graffiti an stuff good vid

  • Get out of here Stalker!

  • Hi nice video. Any idea how large and ferocious that fire must be under the ground? Also you should be very careful when breathing in that smoke. There is carbon monoxide coming up through these vents sometimes. I know Wiki is not always the best source of info but it does sound quite possible that it is true.

  • that blonde chicks looks like she were on drugs.

however, dudley town is more frightening then this

  • Somewhere on that highway it says Silent Hill in f=grafiti

  • Right now I'm thinking,"Road trip!"

  • There's something very wrong with a government that bails out criminal businesspersons with tax dollars but they quit even trying to put out that fire. Nice vid however.

  • I loved it and 'liked' it. Very informative and well put together.

  • What did she say from 3:39 - Oh my god, the pitch is here is like really really extreme? The hit is? The heat is?

  • @SalemSaberhagen1 No, what I was meaning there was that right there where I was walking, the side of the road had fallen in and pulled away from the median so much that it was really steep and hard to walk on.

  • centalia uh? i wait to go some day to se myself that town

  • as if it calls this music the video

  • ok toxic gas people, why are they there?

  • places like this have a better effect if there aren't white trash running around with cameras and brightly colored clothing.

  • Cool video. If I ever venture up to PA to see the abandoned turnpike I'm thinking of giving this a visit as well. It will be one long drive.

Since we got to see so much of you dashboard (LOL!) I couldn't help but notice something. Did the vehicle you were in come from VA? It looked like there was a remnant of a Va state inspection sticker still stuck to the windshield.

  • @whatihave2do Sharp eye! Yes, in fact, I purchased that Explorer at the former Winchester Ford in Winchester, VA!

  • hahaha welcome to hell xD

  • 8:01 1866 to 1966 is there some relevance towards the existence of Centalia and then 2016 is when we open the vault why is 6 a famous number for each of these years and i want to find out what is in that vault

  • @GaiaChrono Y'know, I did find on the Internet a list of all the things that was buried in that time capsule. I read that there was a program for the big Centennial Parade & Festival that was held in '66, along with some other things that weren't that exciting. They used a child-sized casket to bury these things there on the corner of Park & Locust. I've been trying to look for it again. I started on the Offroaders Centralia site, but I can't find it.

  • @MAMsMom97 but the research is integuing and i do wan to see what isin the time capsul when the time comes

  • Did you guys get to explore Centralia at night?

  • @zekal10 No, I don't think I would do that. I'm too chicken, and so are my parents, my daughter, and her friend. I'm sure it would be fine, but there's that tiny chance that the ground could cave in under our feet and swallow us up, and if it did I would rather it happen in the daytime with other tourists around.

  • @MAMsMom97 Don't forget pyramid head O:

  • Fun video to watch! Looks like it was a fun trip.... I bet there are some good geo caches there... I like the music... but it is over used... it should only be used in Requiem for a Dream... then again... it does fit this town well. It is a nice dash by the way...

  • Not bad! I got a real feeling of what drove people out of that town watching this.

  • To be fair, it is a lovely dashboard.

  • @Econniff LOL! I've since traded this Explorer in on a Kia Sorento.

  • if pyramid head was i'd totally hug him , then run away

  • They say the fire will go out in 250-1000 years.... Imagine how much coal there must be for there to be a fire lasting that long

  • Too bad i live in Centralia Washington, I guess you can't win em all :/

  • @xIAnnexIx This town wasn't always called Centralia. Only when it became a borough did it become known as Centralia. Centralia was originally called Bull's Head when the first house was built there in 1841. It became known as Bull's Head Tavern. The town pursued the name Centerville, but there was already a town in PA called Centerville. So in 1860, someone suggested Centralia.

  • the song of the end.....i nned the name please

  • im a big fan of silent hill and that town its the most close to the game, awesome video i wish to go there so bad!!!

  • What motivated you to spend your vacation in Silent Hill, exactly?

  • @Idonthaveanamelol It was a day trip. Centralia is exactly 200 miles north of me, straight up I-81. My daughter's best friend was excited to go, and my parents, who own a hunting & fishing supply business in southcentral PA, was totally up for a day spent anywhere away from a phone. There ya go.

  • It's so sad that this could happen. But I would love to go there. I wanna go when they open the time capsule

  • shamokin pa is also on fire under the town

  • It's sad how this could happen

  • Were there a lot of other people up there looking around? I've been wanting to see this place.

  • @Ranger4402 There were a few other so-called tourists up there. Unfortunately, there isn't as much to see now as there was when I was there, with John Lokitis's house on Park being torn down (I have a picture of the house on this video, I think). (As if there was a lot to see before, which there wasn't.)

  • Were there a lot of other people up there looking around? I've been wanting to see this place?

  • Wow that split road looks crazy. What was that inbetween the cracks, was it just rocks or was some of it actually coal?

  • @animekevvy People just throw trash, burnables, rocks, crumbling asphalt, etc., in the cracks. You'd have to go pretty far down under to get at what coal hasn't burned yet. Actually, that part of Highway 61 south of town and the extinct village of Byrnesville (aka "the Shanties") was where the underground fire burned the hottest.

  • this may sound weird but id love to live there!!!!

the peace and quiet an the satisfaction of knowing you wont have noisy neighbours

  • @curtis8516 yea but what if a physco came into your home, and then who would you go to? theres no cops no neighbors. it'll be like right out of a horror movie.

  • @ 6:05 pic what is that for???

  • @saleen010104 I think the pic you're talking about is of a vent located between the old dump where the fire started and the Odd Fellows Cemetery beside the location of the old St. Ignatius School that was installed by DEP to vent the steam produced by the burning buckvein.

  • Why don't they try to stop the fires? Then people can go back to this town!

  • @Saralv It would cost way to much money to fight and put out the fires. And it's not even sure if it would work. Put it this way, it was cheaper for the GOV. to buy out everyone that lived there and move them, than to fight the fire. That tells you the overwhelming cost of the fire.

  • We visited there back in 97 :) cool place tragic story.

  • Nice job!

  • 2:27 Amityville Horror reference FTW!!!

  • All the way through this I was just thinking of Silent Hill. Is that actually where you went because it's in Centrailia?

  • Ha! Klaus Nomi grafiti art after the "boo" part 09:34

  • @BNSFrailfan That is supposedly true. Youngstown is supposedly facing the same scene Centralia faced back in '83. They say it could cost up to $40 million to put that one out. But Youngstown is just one of an estimated 45 mine fires burning just in Pennsylvania alone.

  • I agree 100%. We know how to start towns, but we don't know how to end them. Not without raising some hard feelings, anyhow.

  • My environmental science class watched your video today...we were all creeped out by the music lol

  • Wow, thanks to all of you for stopping by! I was invited to show this to my daughter's 5th grade class last year by her teacher, and I learned a lot when I did my research to come up with an introduction to coal for the kids. The kids who I assumed wouldn't care were the ones who asked all the questions!!! That was so satisfying. I'm a kindergarten aide, but anytime I'm asked to give a lesson like that I never turn it down. Thanks again!

  • Its Silent Hill lol

  • @TaltosGirl That's what I was thinking

  • About that charming welcome notice at 9:17 - I first saw that whilst taking night photos of Centralia around 2AM - I came thisfaraway from shitting myself. No kidding. Yeah, I got the hell out and hightailed it back to Virginia as fast as my old car could take me. Hey, Im not a brave man. But I did get some tight shots on my cellular telephone. :) To whoever spraypainted that - thanks for scaring me shitless, and GFY.

  • LOL! I seriously doubt I could do a 2 am tour of Centralia.

  • Very nice video shots, I live not too far from Centralia, will like to know the name of the song and the name of the group, band, orchestra who play it , thanks, good job, regards, Fred

  • theme song to requiem for a dream

  • boo.

Surprisingly sad, considering that almost nobody died.

  • Thanks for posting. I used to hang out in Centralia

  • Good vid! Thanks for sharing....

  • it's like NJ only not as shitty HA!

  • ....

  • it's like Silent Hill lmao

  • Will, Silent Hill IS based off of this place.

  • i got high on this road woot

  • no silent hill the movie is based off this not the game

  • @greyfox17 ive rode my fourwheeler up that road quite a few times

  • Err... I'm watching other video with same thing. Centralia is REAL have a bit of population. in the video, I'm see the mayor of Centralia.

  • I live about a mile from Centralia and current population is around 10 people...............

  • Is now Centralia abandoned?

  • I heard it has a population of like 10. I'm not sure if that's a true fact.

  • It's actually less than that. Mr. Mervine is in a nursing home now, but his wife (as far as I know) still lives there. The number's probably closer to 5 or 7.

  • Thanks for the comments on Pt. 2 of our trip. Yours was one of the virtual reconnaissance videos that paved the way! I concur on your choice of music. They killed the audio on my Pt. 3 GoGos Vacation (about 30sec) they gotta be kidding (all the songs were puns of sort)!

  • so interesting did you get stopped by a women that warned you away aperntly she flashes a badge and tells you to leave lol how freeky cant believe theres people that stayed there

  • I like how you use the song from silent hill

  • @ThatWeerdoGirl which is the name of that song? i cant find it

    Please

  • @eclipse848 I think it's called "repressed memories" or something. Its on youtube.

  • @ThatWeerdoGirl I don't, i'm alone and it's dark. O_O

  • brown haired girl with the purple sneaks is cute (:

  • are u serious? lol

  • Cool ..I grew up near there. I had High School Classmates from there and I was at their "Former" homes many times before the Government bought them out and demolished theit homes.

    DDR

  • Thanks, David. I didn't realize this was your neck of the woods. After Friday, I don't necessarily subscribe to the concept of the holdouts being classified as "squatters." They're not really, since they still own the homes they live in, not the land the home sits on. I support the folks who remain, I understand why they're there, and I hate that out-of-towners come and deface their town. Thanks for stopping by!
