@chris4236 aye and so did the kings shropshire light infantry i believe they also feasted on the american generals dinner just before. must have been a good p*** up.
@Brecconable Hundreds mate they weren't always known as the Royal Irish Regiment. in 1992 they merged with the Royal Irish Rangers. Loads of history in the royal irish regiment mate. The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, The Royal Ulster Rifles, The Royal Irish Fusiliers. They are now known as the Royal Irish Regiment now though.
monobovov needs to learn some Irish history. The poor and downtrodden of Ireland were highly upset at the uprising. Irish law was supposed to prevail but the British Took jurisdiction. Thats what pissed everybody off.
well done boys we are all proud of you in shropshire and as a piper myself i must learn your regimental march its one i don't play i only play one or two irish tunes so i must rectify that.
Belfast 2nd Nov.Come & see these brave young RIR soldiers. Faugh a Ballagh.Clear the way. Also see the face of republican sectarianism who are having a counter march. Do young american soldiers come home to ira sympathizers protests. They are not oppressing the republican community ,they are coming home.Ulster will remain Ulster until all her people decide . 6not9.
Not the naasrddad dude, I wasn't supporting him, christ made a cock up here. I think the the twat that has said the the Royal Irish Regiment is full of traiters is a nob, there, got it in the end.
English scum, keep your filthy colonial hands off the proud name of Ireland and all things Irish. Death to all traitors, hope the hun who got killed yesterday is roasting in hell.
The ignorant person who wrote this does not represent Ireland. The Irish are free to join the British Army if they wish. These are brave lads doing a dangerous job. God go with them.
yeah they are free but its not exactly what brave irish patriots died for. fighting a more powerful brit force with little support from the population as a whole. simply so that irish lads could go & fight for the brit army later on. the republic has independence & freedom ... a little loyalty to those men who gave their lives for that wouldn't go astray
I merely disaggreed with what the man said, I mean I understand your point but the thing is that I have met some of these guys and its not pretty listening to what they have been through. All of them have volunteered to join the british army, we havent forced them to join, but I see your point about irish independence. I just think its sickening for people to take the piss and not recognise these men and womens efforts.
yeah i was referring to irish history- did you know that the men & women who started the 1916 easter rising in dublin were not popular initially. Of course they are not going to be popular with the average citizen joe who is living comfortably and doesnt want the boat rocked.
YET the irish state now honours and pays tribute to those men & women - its why we now have a state & government in the south- & these unpopular people are now heroes
you obviously dont realise that change always comes from a small band of people - most people are sheep - if it wasnt for a few who stood for freedom then the rest wouldn't follow- they would stay under a yoke of oppression.
so it doesnt say it all- it only says what you want it to mean- limited by your own sense of beliefs and traditions, insecurities and fears.
if you follow that line of reasoning then any minority with a grievance can change the will of the majority by bombing and shooting; fits quite well with the mind-set of bin-laden!
Thats correct. And another thing America would'nt exist had it not been for the actions of France in helping the relatively small band of rebels in their hours of need. Now Americans ridicule the French for their poor war record in WWI and WWII.
That's a poor generalization. Very poor indeed. Americans do not ridicule all French. And yes, France did help America with it's independence, however, it was the Court of Louis 16th that facilitated us. Not the revolutionaries who had overthrown his court, and who would have only succeeded in destroying our infant country had we sided with a movement that promoted the downfall of all monarchies. No European nation would have stood for such then. And it was a wise decision made by . . .
Washington and his administration to avoid such a pact. No one is denying that. Nor should we. But the sheer fact that in two World Wars and Vietnam our country has come to the assistance of France. The French govt has not joined NATO and only snubbed and thumbed their noses at our requests for help. That is what most American people do not appreciate.
Fucking scumbag, I actually live down the road from these guys and there far better people than you could ever hope to aspire to, fucking scum. I would spit on your grave, but I do not think you could pay for on nor would I lower myself to such a level! You are a twat. You go to Afgahnistan and see if you can come back home and put up with seeing your frineds die right before you. If you ever meet a soldier may may the devil help you.
you dont have to go to afghan to see ppl dying...and without comrades beside them...also they dont go looking for recognition about what 'heroic' things they did.....& no fucking medals either
Only for this weasel Labour government and it's sop to terrorists, we would have a lot more Royal Irish Battalions in the British Army to serve at home and abroad!.
About the band, there is still a full instrumental band but unfortunatley on this occation the rest of the band were held up on the ferry from Ireland and didnt get to the parade until it was over. They did play for the officers and their good ladies at the officers mess though. I hope that answers your question.
My son is in A Company and he left on Sunday morning the 16th March at 03-30hrs. This was definately the St Patricks day parade at Clive Barracks Tern Hill. Good luck to each and everyone of them. Keep safe looking forward to their return.

I've just learned the order in which the RIR homecoming was organised. Apparently it was;
" M.O.D. Order of Passing
-BP Brigade
-Chevron Light Infantry
-Exxon Mobil Fusiliers
-Shell Platoon
-Emo and Light Crude Regiment"
go figure, eh?

i think that says it all "little support from the whole population" have you never heard of democracy?
so if the majority dis-agree's with you're view-point it's alright to to bomb and shoot them?
