  • the best banjo player of all time in my opinion

  • @sonnenlicht87 Yes, all banjo players do have their unique tone, but uniqueness in no way predisposes toward excellence, and in many instances that uniqueness of tone can be pretty hard on the ears of listeners. Ask any good professional banjo player who gets the best tone and the answer will almost always be Earl Scruggs.

  • He mentally focuses on EVERY SINGLE NOTE, not on the process of playin. He involves his left brain I believe. That is why his playn every note is so clear and he is the only one who is that clear or has ever been.

  • earl still has that same funny smile

  • @PoutinePete+acousticguitarfinger...I'm of Anglo Saxon descent, and a proud white American, and fully agree that F+S and Bluegrass are the coolest contribution to the world of music, but no one ethnic group has a monopoly on a musical form. If you haven't already, check out the blues notes in the F+S version of "Six White Horses" or "Foggy Mountain Special" or in Bill Monroe's mandolin work. I don't like all forms of music, but good things usually have multiple sources.

  • Flatt and Scruggs -- Anglo Saxons

  • Bluegrass----Probably the coolest contribution from white America to the world of music!

  • Earl and Lester you make the species better with your music. Trying for 7 years to play that song. I fail.

  • Somebody call Led Zepplin!

  • I love bluegrass. Earl Scruggs is the best.

  • Was that Toots Thielman on the harmonica?

  • dear god well trade you justin beiber and kanye (the gay fish) for lester flatts and earl scruggs

  • @little0kid0lover Earl Scruggs is still alive, mate.

  • Hear the tone? You wont hear anyone else get that quality out of a banjo.

  • @clyderf duh, everyone has their unique tone.

  • Damn their good. Thank you

  • You know what's awesome about Earl Scruggs? Excellence can speak for itself sometimes. Sometimes that's all that's required.

  • THE best of the best.

  • thats the man!

  • I'm goin' down to South Park

    Gonna have myself a time.

    Friendly faces everywhere

    Humble folks without temptation.

  • So is cumberland gap and foggy mountain breakdown the same song?

  • @OSUBucks12345 noooo ;)

  • that is freaking BA

  • Im absolutely digging the hat the guy @ 45sec is wearing

  • WEEEEEEEEEEEHAWWW!!!!

  • needs more viewers

  • genius...

  • Makes me want to go run some moonshine!

  • ahh pick it Earl!

  • generally regarded as the greatest banjo player ever

  • @heathirving Sonny Osborne said Earl Scruggs was the greatest ever, and I seen it in a interview with Earl that Sonny was, two great compliments I think they both are great.

  • Kick ass..

  • wow..the original shredders! these guys make fast seem slow. "dont you hear that banjo ringin, don't you hear that mournful sound"

  • @smartandsane Absolutely - the Letterman clip where Earl played with younger guys including Steve Martin show EVERYONE struggling to stay with Earl who was nearly sleeping. I think he could play it backwards, in his sleep, with his feet and STILL leave everyone else in the DUST!

  • @MsJollycholly People are always too slow for Earl.. That's why you need God himself to play with Earl, and it still sounds a bit slow.. :)

  • classic
