I believe that these protests are gathering of sticks and the police/government brutality are the fuel. They were there to be inside the crowd and throw the first punch out so police force would be a "necessary response" to crowd violence. @DeadFishFactory Correct. I was at the protests in Minneapolis during the 2008 republican convention and the group of about 60 I was with was rushed by a small group of riot police. They would run at us with batons raised and then stop at the last moment, back up, and a new group would rush. On about the third run at us a few pushed away the police and they laid a few hard shots on them and this got everyone crazy and they went overkill and beat and arrested everyone, including me.

People are right saying that they have the right to assemble and to protest. However, like every other right in the Constitution, it has some limits. For example, you do NOT have the right to protest or assemble on private property. Plus, their permit to protest on that spot had expired and they were evicted from that spot the night before and They decided to force their way back in later and 'occupy' the spot; they were throwing stuff at the police and were repelled. It's that simple.

They would run at us with batons raised and then stop at the last moment, back up, and a new group would rush. On about the third run at us a few pushed away the police and they laid a few hard shots on them and this got everyone crazy and they went overkill and beat and arrested everyone, including me.

I'm not talking about oakland that was obviously way too much by police. just my observations from being at some protests. Most people are cool and have the right idea

The Mayor's words are empty, her orders, and the O.P.D. actions speak volumes.

If these asshole OWS protesters really want to do something productive and make a difference in this world, they should:
-Pull their money out of the big banks and cut up all of their credit cards
-Get rid of their expensive iPods, iPhones, iPads, laptop computers etc etc
-Get rid of their gas-guzzling cars and hoof it
-Quit shopping at places like Wal-Mart, Target, McDonald's, Starbucks etc.
-Vote the bums out of office on November 8th
