  • I don't have much room in my garden to grown a lot of corn, but I'm going to give it a shot. I put 3 seeds (per hole) that were a little under 2 ft apart. I live in Florida so hopefully I have a nice couple of stalks by summer

  • Corn is wind pollinated and needs to be planted 10-12 inches apart in blocks, if you follow this advice you won't get any ears at all. you can make your rows 3 feet apart, so you can walk between them, but this information is incorrect- you get better info from the seed packet.

  • corn is corn, but corn on the other hand... well thats jus corn

  • yes corn is a grain like think of corn meal but who really cares its yummy

  • Not any criticism here but we plant 5000 acres of corn every year, corn is a grain not a vegetable. You don't plant it 3 feet apart you plant it in rows 30 inches apart and about 2 inches apart in the rows. I have lived on a farm all my life so I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about. Also for better yielding corn spread fertilizer. Corn LOVES nitrogen, fertilizers like Euria have nitrogen in them. Hope this helps clarify and correct this video.

  • How many ears per stalk? Whats the best yielding corn?

  • @kycruisecrazy one.

  • @kycruisecrazy corn usely yeilds u 2 to 3 maybey 4 but thats how much per stalk

  • @kycruisecrazy Usually you'll get 2 ears per stalk, except baby corn, which produces more. Just plant them closer than this video suggests, not 3 feet more like 10 inches.

  • THREE FEET!!! More like 8 to ten inches

  • Can i grow and harvest corn from a pot??

  • @AlbertLloydy ill let you know in about a month.i am using 5 gallon buckets with holes drilled in the bottom/sides,with 5 plants in each of the three buckets.so far so good.

  • My corn seed package instructions state that corn needs 1 foot plant spacing with 3 foot rows. 3' x 3' is impractical and wasteful. Farming videos online state to offset each seed by 4 inches for improved health and production.

  • lol i live in maryland, if i want corn i can just pull up on one of hundreds of huge fields of it everywhere and pluck some ears. they use pesticide which needs to be washed off, but its easy since the leaves are thick, like none got to the kernels. or buy it for like a few bucks for a bunch. if its not going to car ethanol, its going to feed or food. native americans unknowingly bred this plant to be one of americas most a'maiz'ing renewables.

  • @Pimpmastahanhduece - The worms destroy corn if you don't spray it.

Some of the new hybrid stuff will likely help. I tried spraying with cayenne pepper tea, but it didn't help. I ended up spraying with Sevin ;)

  • @saintveil

try using wild groud leaf tea, for your plants, it is a bug repellent for your plants.

see nothing eats a wild gourd leaf in the bug world. nothing---

so the tea spray makes the bugs think it is a wild gourd and leaves it alone.

    try it, from donze52 videos.

  • Well when you plant corn for grain harvests the plants are about 6" apart and the yield is great. Corn uses lots of nitrogen and phosperouse

  • What kind of fertilizer can a person use on sweet corn?

  • I live in south Texas, and most people who plant corn only plant them about 8 to 12 inches apart.

  • @ikeorch7 we got some corn plants and they say 18 inches apart thats half the distance she said

  • @loku1125: Seed instructions say 1 foot seed spacing with 3 foot row spacing.

  • @saintveil oh ok, oh btw our corn was really tasty

  • @ikeorch7 Yeah 8 to 12 inches is more like it.I mean 3 feet is more for someone who has a super lot of land maybe in the country !If your soil is good and rich you can plant them 6 to 8 inches apart and they should do great I have. But my soil is now poor so i got work to do.

  • 3 feet apart is way too much, just look at the picture that pans by. The are not 3 feet apart.

  • Mine has beenm sitting in water for over 1 week, and it has like a 1 inch green stick gorwing!!

  • actually, I have seen corn planted (home gardens) only 15" apart..it's a little crowded, but it did the trick..when there was little space to work with.

  • wow. thats all i got to say.

  • corn is the best thing for everything, its pretty much the best

  • Corn is not a "vegetable" it's a grain!

  • actually its more of a grass; because it was a type of grass before it was geneticly engineered

  • could you mix a red clay with a fertile soil and still produce good corn? because my yard is all clay.

  • jdamion:Im trying to see the nature of your comment... tell me whats silly about growing and storing food. When this countries econonmy collapse's,,without food, you may as well check in at your closest FEMA camp,,

  • I plant sweet corn and I notice that very year the ears arnt that big there a good size but there not a great size... Any idea how I can make them bigger... The seeds I buy says the corn has LARGe ears but it dosnt show...

  • I plant them 11 inches apart in 30 in rows. I raise about 7 to 8 acres a year to sell at farmers markets. 11 inches makes a nice big ear. Corn is a grass so it needs alot of fertilzier especially nitrogen. I also grow about 300 acres of field corn too. If I can help you feel free to ask.

  • Corn is a nut. Haven't you herd of cornnuts?

  • rows would be 20 inches apart and seeds IN a row would be 6 inches apart. the 36 inch rows are TRADITION and dont produce the highest yields. additionally you dont do rows at all...use hills. thats the american indian method. see 3 sisters planting.

  • 6 inches spacing is fine. Sew some field peas and the peas will grow up the corn stocks. You can get more production out of your garden that way.

  • A corn is a GRAIN!

  • @g33ky898 Plus there's no difference between a fruit or a vegetable. An apple is a fruit... or a vegetable. Broccoli could be considered both a fruit or a vegetable. A bean is a fruit.. or vegetable. More technically a legume.

"Oh well, fruits have seeds and vegetables don't."

Ok? Well then... green beans have seeds but people still consider them vegetables.

  • I want to know if it is ok to put two seed in one plant

  • It is okay to plant more than one seed but as they grow it is best to thin them out to make room for the largest plants.

  • additionally, commercial growers plant a single seed every 6 inches. I guess if you're in a garden, and like corn as much as she obviously does...

  • unless youre using a horse there is no need to have 36 inches between rows!!!? is she using a horse?

  • No horse-I like to have room for my wheelbarrow and it seems to work the best so that I don't damage the corn when walking through the rows.

  • that works,...except that youre lowering your yield/ears. corn farmers now dont use 36 inches...they use 20 to get maximum yields. im going by university studies and modern corn farming,

  • So if I understand correctly, 2 to 3 seeds for each plant and spread them out by 20 inches? I'm totally new to this so any help would be appreciated.

  • no!!!!! plant the corn in rows(each row is2-3ft. apart, there has to be 4 rows 4 the corn to pollinate)and in the row plant the seeds 6" apart, and plant in early June,my corn is sprouting already!
