  • touch it, I DARE YOU

  • it runs on eggs?

  • Comment removed

  • Supposed to be mounted on some flying device?

  • I was expecting a chopped off hand or (head), but nothing. This could have been the best suicide video ever.

  • Cool, a gas powered fan LOL!

  • so when does it go foward og anywhere? :P

  • one slip of his hand and his arm could be gone or cut pretty bad

  • 3 wheels and placed horizontally and you have yourself a fantastic super mower.

  • GO SKATE WITH IT! that must be so incredible awesome :D

  • What about safety?

  • Let's see now...Sharp blade spinning at a tremendous amount of RPM's. Man holds onto it via a metal pipe while he revs engine with other hand. What could possibly go wrong..?

    Freshly ground humanburger anyone..?

  • It certainly looks very powerful, but being an engineer and safety conscious I'd like to see an anchored tripod supporting it and the human in front. If anything goes wrong it could be catastrophic.

In any case, behind a para-glider it will likely do very well. It looks a tidy design and you could recover some of your investment by selling proven models.

  • Red diesel i see.

    Did you nick it?

  • @Danthrax11 That was the colour of the 2-stroke oil mixed in the petrol.

  • @Danthrax11 diesel lol

  • @Danthrax11 how can you honestly think that that is a diesel engine.... lol

  • Shoulder straps + roller skates.

  • @SOAHCSOAHCSOAHC Or childs scooter?

  • That's a nice fan for the hot days for you and the family. All of you could sit in front of it and watch the telly through it.

  • @MACHINEIRON Probs a bit to noisy for relaxed telly viewing :)

  • safety first

  • 4th july? JUDGE DAY!!!

  • I have a hard time imagining a more dangerous contraption designed to be strapped on ones back

  • he fell over, but it was too graphic for youtube. here is a transcript of the audio: vrumbumbumbumbumbumbum "hey, give it some more throttle!" vrumbumbumBUMBUMBUMcccchhhhhrrrrccgggffflffk "aaaaaggh, oh my god my arm!!!!"

  • no prop cage, im scared.

  • @ecookman to be fair there is a prop cage, just a lack of protective netting.

  • @hittensix very true. Just scares the heck out of me when you think, hm, what if that prop comes off or a blade snaps. wheres it gonna go lol.

  • if you had slipped, well i dont think i need to explain what would have happened, apart from wheres Fred..........well hes everywhere !!

  • I dare you to put your finger on it..

  • but will you blend my friend

  • That thing is dangerous!!!!!!!!!

  • designed to help fat people walk up hills

  • that is the only way to cool down a gtx 590 video card

  • this guy will die shreddered...

    poor guy...

  • @muh1h1 I think he stripped it and sold it for parts ages ago.

  • wtf is the purpose of this thing? do you cut trees with it? or is it your quiet fan when you are hot and trying to sleep?

  • will it blend?

  • @clitheroe31 More than likely, always a good idea to have a backup function :)

  • @lookupparagliding i think he asks if it blends *the eggmotor itself*

  • @clitheroe31 it will blend you

  • @clitheroe31 put ya knob in it and then see!!!!!!!!! ha ha ha

  • what's it meant 2 do

  • @freighttr4in37 It was an experimental machine to see if a small engine spinning a really big efficient prop could develop enough thrust for paramotoring, unfortunately it wasn't quite powerful enough. If the goped gearbox had had a 6:1 ratio (instead of 5:1) then the engine would have been in the power-band and been suitable. The project was abandoned in late 2008 for the more recent 4-stroke machines.

  • How many kilograms of push force have that?

  • @RDCST Hello, maximum push force was around 28kg but we did get 36kg peak when we used a cheap mini-moto nitrous oxide kit. The nitrous cartridges lasted about 20-30 seconds each and gave us over an extra 1000rpm. It made a noticeable difference in thrust.

  • @lookupparagliding What a waste of good nitrous ;-)

  • That looks like an accident waiting to happen...

  • @lordvader139 Long since abandoned this project, the latest 4 stroke version is a more conventional paramotor set up.

  • your cage is eight strings nice:)

  • @kayla0819 My latest creation is even nicer :) Check out my channel for more info.

  • Don't get sucked in (:-O)

  • That looks too big to be practical

  • can I get a weenie smoothie????? thumbs up if you get the joke!!!

  • haha not dangerous at all.... awesome vid man, love it.

  • @shaneo0306 Cheers Shane :)

  • your gona need some mighty long fast legs to get airborne with that rig fella, its only for model helicopters not paragliders!

  • @flyro2000 Long since abandoned this project :) Prop was designed by Helix for low-powered paramotoring. They tested with a 10kw electric motor and got 50kg thrust.

  • Cool propeller! I remember guys used to wear chunky wooden props. What is it now? Carbon? Is it expensive?

  • @DragonBoyGame I abandoned this machine 3 years ago but the prop on it was carbon and cost me over £400 direct from Helix props in Germany. The prop is designed for efficient use of low power engines.

  • wtf is that? wtf would you use that for?not like ur gunna fly around on that

  • @wildturkey11001 Upload some of your own videos and let the world see what technical abilities you've got then!!!! Seems like all you're good at is negative commenting......

  • cool motor with propeller but for what is this ? for what your use this kind of motor?!

  • @RomanKnight88 Hi, it was for an aviation project but I have since moved onto larger 4 stroke engines.

  • that looks safe

  • @ninrocket Doesn't really matter anymore, I stripped and sold it for parts over 2 years ago.

  • I want to make one of those Inspector Gadget copters.

  • where did you buy the prop

  • @leviterande From Helix in Germany, Model number: H25F 1,80m R-LS-04-2

  • @lookupparagliding thanx man, I dont see any price there? how much does it cost?

  • @leviterande Hello, It was a special order request. Back in 2007 the prop cost me about £400.00

  • @lookupparagliding wow dude, that was a lot more expensive than I ever could dream of

  • @leviterande It sure wasn't cheap :)

  • 28kg is not so bad at all out of a 49cc engine.

Did you have trouble attaching the gearbox though? or was it a a straight right through easy job?

  • @leviterande The gearbox was an easy fit, just 4 bolts. If the gearbox ratio had been 6:1 instead of 5:1 then I could have exploited the 7hp available and achieved +10000rpm and 40kg thrust rather than the 8400rpm and 28kg thrust. With a simple nitrous kit we did get about 9300rpm which equated to about 37kg thrust but the gas cartridge only lasts about 20 seconds but it would have been enough to get airborne.

  • 4 stroke or 2 stroke?

  • @leviterande 2 stroke tuned mini moto engine. 6-7hp peak but due to the unsuitable gearbox ratio I was only able to exploit about 4hp.

  • @lookupparagliding where did you get this gearbox. does it come with the minimoto or did you make it yourself?

  • @leviterande The gearbox is off a goped that a friend was throwing away. It's a 5:1 reduction ratio with centrifugal clutch.

  • I think that prop is to big or prop pitch is to big. Same as you drive a car uphill in 5th gear.

  • @bessybessy Hello, I sold this experimental paramotor 18 months ago as I'm now working on 4 stroke development. I actually consulted Markus at Helix Propellers about my needs and this prop was the most suitable. If the goped gearbox had been a 6:1 ratio instead of 5:1 then I would have been able to fully exploit the fully revs and power of the engine (7hp) and achieve almost 40kg thrust instead of the 28kg I was getting when this video was made.

    Thanks anyway for your comments.

    Robert.

  • all you can do about the pipe is to try a smaller and a bigger one. another thing is change the length of the stinger( tail pipe after the expansion chamber) tha can make a big difference on where the power comes on.

be sure to use racing two stroke synthetic oil, maybe just a bit on the rich side. you know, if it calls for 40:1 mix at 36:1 or so

  • hi rob mate did u ever hear anything about the first egg after you sold it? and wats happend to the egg forum ?

  • Hello Brian,

I never heard anything since the chap brought the old eggmotor, he probs split it down and sold the parts individually.

I've contacted Yahoo, I only noticed the group had 'disappeared' yesterday evening. Apparently quite a few have vanished, I did a google search for 'disappearing Yahoo groups'. It's in their hands but I'm not expecting miracles :o(

I think I'll post something about it on the Eggmotor DIY home page so people know.

    Anyway, how's you?

    Cheers,

    Rob.

  • Small man or big paraglider ?

  • Big Paramotor ;o)

  • Oh motor* i mean sry :P

  • Okey this good for fun in air.

  • Comment removed

  • hey dude these engines have only 5hp to the max but why don't you use simply 2 of them at once ??!

  • I don't own this engine anymore, I've moved onto a slightly different project. I did consider coupling up 2 engines while I owned it.

  • what do you expect from this thing, never will it raise anythig more than a small dog in the air

  • Firstly. If you read my last comment, I no longer own this motor so I can't expect anything from it !!!!! Secondly. It would comfortably sustain a slope-launched pilot weighing upto 14 stone. Thirdly. I've moved onto a more powerful project paramotor. (Possibly powerful enough to lift a big dog!) So stick that in your pipe and smoke it sunshine !!!!! At least I'm doing something positive for the sport I love and developing a cheap alternative to all the expensive commercial motors.

  • Hello Folks, I no longer own this paramotor anymore. I sold it on ebay last week.

    Cheers, Rob.

  • have you tried with twin props on the same hub that would give some more thrust without much extra weight

  • Hello, not thought of doing that ;o) At over £400 for the prop I can't afford another one at the moment. I think the extra drag created would lower the engine rpm too much. Cheers, Rob.

  • Wow that thing looks smart. Only point i would make is why have the fuel tank over the engine? Such a dodgy thing if it went wrong? Whats the weight of the setup so far?

  • hello 0eden0, I needed gravity feed for the fuel because unlike the majority of paramotors, the minimoto engine isn't fitted with a carb that has a built in pump. I am considering buying a performance carb which should give me another 0.5 to 0.8hp. If it's a walbro or something similar then the pump would help make for a safer design. I think the weight so far is 19kg(empty). the 'diamond' engine frame is made of thick box section so I could save a kilo or two on any future motors. cheers, rob.

  • You will probably gain about half a horsepower once the motor is run in. You will also gain about another 500rpm once the motor has freed up.

  • Hi Redbaran42, we should probably get upto the 32-33kg mark then. We are also going to try some flexible exhaust pipe lengths to see if we can get the power band down to around 9,500rpm. This should get us the 40kg+ we are hoping for. Many Thanks for your input, Rob.

  • y dont you check the thrust against some weighing scales

  • We might do that again. We used bathroom scales when we did the Eggmotor Test Runs 2. This was with the old engine and untuned exhaust. It wasn't a brilliant test rig and the reading was lower than the data sheet.
