LDR is a cop out. It IS the same thing no matter what. Try re-training a horse that has had LDR done to them. It's not easy.

Rollkur and low deep and round is not the same thing. Now I am definitely not saying some people don't lie and say they use the LDR technique when indeed they are using Rollkur, but LDR, when used CORRECTLY and during short amounts of time do not harm the horse. Sadly, too many people see professionals using LDR and start doing it at home, without even knowing the difference between LDR and Rollkur.

Nothing else ... no saddle, no bridle, no nothing.

@horse332 It was under anesthesia. That is actually the least strenuous way to move a horse to an operating table. I'm expecting the real movie shows that they are having to fix something on the horses neck from hyperflexion.

@horse332 It wasn't a slaughter house :| They don't "Drain blood" like that. They hang them by a leg and cut their throat, that's how they "bleed them out".

very good info...going to check out more info...I love to let my guy travel how he wants. Basic dressage cannot hurt...low and long allows him to stretch...I dont know what is right, but it seems any over flexsion or over excersion is not good for anyone longterm.....all that being said...rock on Zenyatta!! one more...you can do it!!

i think they picked the horse up by his legs for a certain medical reason. it's very obvious the horse could not stand.

@raquazalmj The horse is not dead, they put him under anesthesia for operation. Hoisting the horse by the legs is STANDARD procedure in ALL equine clinics for operation.

I have been away from dressage (Classical) for many years and & am now returning; I am appalled by what I am seeing with what is being called "Modern" dressage, Consequently, I am using this man's guidelines to refresh my memory & skills as well as to select the trainer for my new horses. I have the book version of this video and it should be required reading for anyone training horses....judges should be required to watch/read this and hyperflexion must be removed from competition riding! Oh I pity the horses..indeed if only they could talk!

I've been trying to teach people about unnatural and destructive horse training methods and now I have Dr. Heuschmann's expertise to back me up! I just wish there was a DVD out there to address the Western riding world as well!
