  • all good people of singapore must toople lee kwan yew regime....regime change start now.......revolution or destruction

  • When I heard the metallic, robotic voice recite: To control the citizenry, you must first control the media....

    I am intensely amused.

She sounds like my GPS, only less alive.

  • this video is dissappointing and disrespectful to one of the greatest man in history. My profession has lead me to deal with public policy and the media mainly in health in Australia, my hobby is politics and history. I have found many journalist to be lazy, searching for sensationalism mostly to get ahead, chasing the next promotion and the next buck, often in a corrupt manner. It spoils it for the good journalists who are often sidelined.

  • @samcs73

Which history books says he is the greatest man in history. U can only find that in PAP history textbooks.

Journalists are indeed lazy especially those from MALUland Chanewsasia.

  • Its obvious many here are judging w/o being non-biased. Judging from today's context it would seem inhumane, but Lee made all these decisions in the early 50s. It was do or die at that time. Running a country ain't the same as writing a comment as most of the anti Lees wrote. Be objective. It would be unfair to say he didn't do anything good.

  • We understand where they are cocoming from...the parties that have NEVER BEEN VOTED IN THE GENERAL ELECTIONS BY SINGAPOREANS...FOR all these 45 years! so they're simply sore.with everybody, everything but themselves.

    Singapore's Pledge

    We, the citizens of Singapore

Pledge ourselves as one united people

Regardless of race, language or religion

    To build a democratic society

    Based on justice and equality

So as to achieve happiness, prosperity & progress for our nation

  • @PlsB9s:

On behalf of my fellow MALE Singaporean user/jemdude22, thank you very much for making me laugh.

  • @PlsB9s:

From my fellow MALE Singaporean user/jemdude22. Enjoy the complimentary hypocrisy:

"Happy National Day! Salute to those who have sacrificed their sweat, blood and time in building up the defence force of our red-dot nation. I believe I have contributed to Nation Building in a different way, i.e. by being a socially responsible citizen & also a tax-paying one, albeit I was eventually not enlisted to NS. [...] Remember the Pledge?"

  • @PlsB9s:

Here is another quote from my fellow MALE Singaporean user/jemdude22:

"Tell you something, i will leave Singapore one day if the chinese population in Singapore becomes smaller than that of other races. I will not live in a muslim dominated country after seeing the plight of malaysian chinese. Be glad that we are still the dominant race on this tiny temasek island where the national language is Malay."

  • @ZHLu

Well ur frends can leave now. The number of foreigners the Indians/Bangla/Filipinos has reduce the Chinese population. The only thing they are not included as Spores.

And u know what, imported Chinese nationals can,t even sing the national anthem properly.

Instead of singing MAJULAH Singapura, they tune it into a joke. MALULAH Singapura instead.

Indeed MALUlah land. Now Spore become MALUland.

  • If this is a documentary then where are the balanced views? Where are the reasons for these issues? Or your speculation of these reasons... I am not saying this is true or untrue... Just that a documentary should be balanced. THis is propaganda.

  • Is propaganda citizenship education? Why have it? What if there is no control of the media? Is there any media that does not have any form of state control at all? Are we ready for freedom with the media?

  • We aren't children; adults can decide to accept or reject what they see.

If young viewers are easily influenced by what they see, that speaks poorly of our education system (to encourage critical and independant thinking) and bad parenting/supervision on the internet.

To censor media is futile in our internet age. Rather, any government should set up its own blog and promote their opinions, compete in our information age. Like Obama.

  • Comment removed

  • Long overdue for a real Melayu Muslim to become next PM or DPM. Talk about meritocracy and equality. 2000 onwards is women's world and age of info. Baby boomers should quit NOW! Melayu boleh!

  • Luckily we don't any melayu as PM or DPM or else we will join the rest of them having the highest corruption in the world.

  • Damn you lky serve you right now you getting punish now your whole family gonna have cancer forced your daughter-in-law into commit suicide serve you right bastard lky

  • America is democratic and yet they have "social studies" from kindergarten. How absurd is that?

is "Social Studies" propaganda for their kids grow up and think that their type of "democracy" is the real one?

Now where's the freedom? Singapore has Social Studies only in Secondary schools

  • I was born 1n the year of 1968 and i'm happy to stay here till my life end. Good or Bad LKY has been a great man without him what will happen to Singapore now? People don't understand, He knows what to do and lets not talk bad about LKY. My wish, hope he will be the next President of Singapore. We SALUTE YOU SIR!

  • fyi, LKY will nv go after presidency.. it will be totally stupid for him to do that. And btw, the role (if u know wad i mean) of the president in SG is set by him and his party way back. Wun he be making things difficult for himself if he becomes president one day? haha.

  • of course, 30 years ago is different from now. You make it sound like we're some communist state.

If you think that saying anything you want is democracy, i beg to differ

  • Well, I'll raise a simple question.

"Singapore bans gatherings and protests in all public areas without a permit except in the Speakers Corner"

Oh, and not a single permit has been issued in Singaporean history. Interpret that as you will but....

    Is that democracy....?

  • I am born in Singapore and lived most of my life in Australia and love being an Australian. BUT Before you comment think a little and do some research, it wont take you long to realise why amongst all the political leaders in the world he is easily the most respected elder statesman... and he comes from a tiny nation.

Freedom is when we are free from crime, corruption & feel safe, so hows the 'world champion of freedom' the democratic nation the USA going?

  • @samcs73

The greatest leaders are those who manage big population and massive land area to success. Not a tiny nation.

To free a country from crime is to make them legal. Legal sex, legal gambling, legal x videos etc.

Spore kisses USA asses and a strong supporter . Without USA, Spore sink. Spore is not free from crimes. Too many of them thats the news don.t bother to report or comments. Otherwise get sued. Thats why the local media is telling dirty linens about other countries.

  • Everyone, go and read this informative, non-biased forum :

change the last 4 digit of the link above to other numbers for other posts

    numbers are: 2480, 4742, 4717, 4678, 4688, 4677, 4676, 4665, 4664, 4637, 4610 etc..

there are many other issues but i guess these are enough for now.

  • This video contradicts itself. It says that it is alright to go against unjust laws, but it is not ok for MM Lee to go against its people sometimes.

  • I'm too believe that PM Lee would have done bad things, but i too believe they are necessary. All good leaders would have done it at some point, for greater good.

  • well u wouldnt be sayin that if the "bad things" happen to u now dont u?

  • I am a Singaporean and i feel that him being here is for the greater good

if in 1960s, we chose someone other than him and i dun think we can even be a developed nation now.

So if we aren't even a developed nation, do you think you people would know Singapore and the ang mohs will be criticising us for our so called "authoritarian state?"

  • We are not a developed nation, even our SIngapore government acknowledges this. Our economy is developed, but our society isn't as mature culturally--lack of exposure and restrictive measures of the Media Development Authority.

  • MATlander chink kin94285,

    SO BE A SINGAPOREAN!

  • @kin94285:

Incidentally, it was one of your fellow MATland chinks who got bitten oh, I mean, BANGED DEAD by diplomat Count Dracula in MY COUNTRY late last year.

The MATland embassy in Singapore seems VERY, VERY QUIET or just insouciant.

It would be in YOUR INTEREST to BECOME ONE OF US SINGAPOREANS. Enough said.

  • @kin94285:

MATland chink, ACTION speaks louder than words! Be a SINGAPOREAN!

    temasekreview . com /2010/02/15/ ex-malaysian-on-why-he-supports-the-pap-and-is-proud-to-be-a-singaporean

Of course, people may start questioning HIM vis-à-vis the fact Singapore is a country which has YEARS OF FULL-TIME MILITARY CONSCRIPTION as well as LIFELONG RESERVIST LIABILITY for MALES. However, he is my FELLOW SINGAPOREAN, and I am very happy for that per se.

SO BE ONE, MATLAND CHINK kin94285!

  • @kin984285:

Never mind, MATland chink, I will sing Negarakuku AGAIN for you anyway because it is your national anthem. For NOW.

  • @Kin94285:

MATlander chink kin94285, Singapore has a lower quality of living than Silviu Ionescu's country.

WHY DID I BRING UP COUNT DRACULA'S REALM?! It could have something to do with "WHAT HAPPENED [that] WAS VERY BAD".

Not that I care. No SINGAPOREANS died when he bit -- er, I mean, banged an Audi worse than your mother drives.

  • @Kin94285:

DO YOU CARE about this issue then?! I DO NOT. No Singaporean was BITTEN by Count Dracula and DIED.

    temasekreview . com / 2010/04/04/ dr-silviu-ionescu-claimed-he-was-set-up-after-making-reports-on-corruption-in-singapore

  • Daftmunky,

You said all good leaders have to do bad things for the greater good. I disagree.

Everyone is held accountable to the law.

MM lee hasn't broken any laws.

But our present laws need to be updated, reviewed transparently, openly discussed in an independent media, especially laws from the 1950s, to reflect changes and developments in SIngapore society.

  • @atyg1967

we have independent media. temasek review.

  • TR is a perfect example of how I.M. can be damaging to the well being of the society. for example, fox news in America. if you've ever watched one of their broadcasts, you'd know that put in much effort to disparage the democrats.

  • You see, its always not good if pple hold too much power, they may abuse it or want for more power, hence their mindset and goal may be changed. In parliment, the optimum will be that PAP holds 50%, with the other 50% held by the other parties. Just like what econonmics preach, competition promotes improvements.

  • everyone one has the right to reserve their own opinion abt the matter.

IMO, we need to distinguish a capable govt from a good govt. I dun deny PAP is capable, take a look at the development of sg since 1965 and you can easily convince urself.

However, that does not necessarily mean they are good. If you've tot carefully, you realise that the Lee and PAP are always on the winning end of almost anything. Temasak, Singtel, high salary etc.. you can think abt tt for urself.

  • Want to rock the boat? NO WAY! S'poreans are not a bunch of stupid goons to be made used of by losers. Look around and see the real world today. No street protests, no hunger, no starvation, no riots, no NEP, etc. We can take some mosquito bites!

  • i believe that as long as singapore is growing and standard of living continue to improve, i will continue to support PAP.... although i think that there is something weird abt LKY.... but i still support him because i respect him.... he is the man who brought singapore to what she is today

  • I know that PAP is a gd govt BUT there is something wrong wwith Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

  • tell me about it.. he's helping AIDS to spread..."gay rights"

  • He is against gays

  • Just for the record, PAP has its problems, yes, but the living standards of Singapore is much better off than that of our neighbours. You want them to be paid sh*tty salary? Sure, but wldn't that make them more inclined to do what Malaysian and Indonesian politicians are doing? Or do you want the SAF to rule us like myanmar? oh wait, SAF's under lee too =x

  • U do not need to pay them MILLIONS to prevent them from becoming like wat Malaysian and indonesian politicians are doing. Even if they are NOT paid millions and they become like Malaysian and Indo polliticians they will face the law.

  • C'est la lutte finale

    Groupons-nous, et demain

    L'Internationale

    Sera le genre humain!

  • I live life happy here in Singapore under PAP's rule, knowing its better than MOST govts out there in the world. And all I see is that the chatters of people criticizing the govt are either from the opposition, or people who have been on the wrong side of the country's political limelight.

  • thatz because u refuse to look at places where there may be problems

  • Everything has its wrongs; and if you are the kind who likes to scrutinize for wrongs in each and every place you can find, then my friend I'm afraid you can never be happy.

  • that is an ostrich's attitude.

  • in any case, the point really is one should be open to alternative critiques. the govt is not infallible, nor is their word the unquestionable truth. politicians in power ultimately strive towards one goal. staying in power.

  • 2wats wrong w the PAP?? it is not a bad govt..

  • the point is scarcely about whether it is a good or bad govt per se.

we cannot hold this govt accountable. we are unable to question certain decisions they make. we are restricted in our means of ensuring the people in power are not abusing their positions.

looking the other way because your pockets are filled perhaps works for now. but perhaps if you become one of those getting a raw deal, you mind think twice.

  • Maybe to the majority (I'm talking about ethnic groups here), PAP is not a bad govt. The minority groups won't agree though.

  • to:wisb07, if you are a honest people, who are fighting for a honest cause, try not deleting my post or give a spam rating. the world is watching your actions. and im going to post this on all the videos. its not spam, just and a awareness and a question

  • this video, indeed educates/informs us (mostly the Gen Ys) on the political arena/issues in Singapore.

That aside, with the Internet and inherent power of viral distribution of content online. Controlling the mainstream media will soon no longer be feasible.

  • Frightening!
