This game was incredible...And the next game, CBC guys grabbed a few words from each of them before the game....Marty had black eyes and was looking pretty badly beaten up, and Wendel looked fresh as a daisy....this whole series was phenomenal.....

Wendel Clark had KO power in both hands, he swung hard and fast and royally dropped many guys- Alan May, David Maley, Dave Mackey off the top of my head. He would blow guys out in the opening seconds of the fight.
where he didn't fare well were in fights that went longer, like with McSorley here who was known throughout his career for having marathon fights and stamina to spare. Anyone with a modicom of knowledge on hockey fights in this era can tell you this.

Let me guess, you give points for takedowns too right? This isn't the ufc or boxing where fights get stopped on cuts or blood. This fight got stopped because one guy was spent and holding on, and the other guy was fired up and firing punches.... so "it speaks for itself who won".

Nope, you're reaching. After McSorley stunned Clark at the 13 second mark Wendel started holding on for dear life, and it's a full 20 seconds later before Marty finally pulls out of his sweater. Don't further embarrass yourself. Even 95% of the YouTube brigade probably heard of the Rob Ray rule. I started trading game tapes for fight tapes IN 1992 when this fight happened. I don't have time for that anymore but I do moderate on one of hockey fight message boards. Heard it all before my friend.

Because Rob Ray was seriously knocking people the fuck out by completely losing his jersey. They had to do something about it. Ray actually continued to score a number of KO's and TKO's regardless though.

Incidently, looks up Marty McSorley vs Dennis Vial Rd 2 on here. Vial (who was no cupcake) loses not only his sweater, but his equipment and undershirt moments into the fight, and McSorley still managed to go nearly blow for blow with him.

And with Wendell doing nothing but trying to hold on and tie Marty up, getting out of his jersey was the way to get back to punching him and in effect, forcing Clark to fight. Clark started it, hit Marty with his best shots and didn't stop him and when Marty landed his counterpunches we see Clark reeling and holding on. Admit it, or keep being my speedbag.

Almost every tough guy in the league used the overly-loose jersey tactic, a very cowardly trick that Clark didn't utilize himself.
Besides that, Clark was at the end of a shift when the fight started, so he was pretty tired. Clark wins based on facial damage.

I vividly remember the front page photo of McSorley's broken face the next day, while Clark escaped unscathed.
Also, we need to consider a few facts. Clark is a 1st liner and McSorley is a goon. Clark is at the end of a shift, and is also worn out after the hard work he gave during the regular season. McSorley is much larger than him.
Didn't matter. Clark butchered his face. McSorley is lucky that Clark wasn't on a fresh shift or Mc would have been beaten to death with his bare hands.

Hey there 67!I NEVER liked Wendell, He even played for My Wings (Briefly!)He was a Talented Spark plug & My HATE has to do w/the Jersey.I understand he was a GREAT Team Guy for the Leafs!I HATED McSorley (Penguins/ Oilers) but I actually found respect for him when he joined the Kings, because outside of his Fighting capabilities he worked VERY HARD & transformed himself into a pretty competent Player!REAL Nice/soft Spoken Dude "off the ice" (like MANY NHL Enforcers)
