  • For some reason they never show the start of the fight, they always show Gilmour laying on the ice and they go to the fight 10-15 seconds in. Right off the start Clark rocked Mcsorley with a few haymakers that dropped him to his knees. Mcsorley gets up they exchange a few shots, and Mcsorley gets a few noogies in at the end. Can someone post the beginning of the fight?

  • A Kings fan here.....we might disagree with who won the fight but I think we can all agree that Pat Burns should be in the NHL Hall of Fame....RIP Pat!!!!

  • Clark is one of the greatest gamers of all time, no doubt, but he played too hard (yes, there is such a thing) and was constantly injured.

Funny comments. This was NOT Clark's prime. McSorley couldn't play for a week? LOL!

Marty wins the fight after Taylor takes Gill off his back. Those linesmen didn't come in to save Clark because he was winning the fight, kids. :)

  • @PuckRogue Ya true Mcsorley only had a fucked up face the next day... i remember the front page of the Toronto Sun was a huge picture of Mcsorley's face and half of it was blue and purple but nah he definitely owned this fight.....

  • LMAO at the ignorant, myopic Leafs fans.

  • every time mcsorley fights his jersey comes off lol

  • 2:09 It might have been an elbow....loooool

  • Huge respect to Clark for fighting out of his weight class and protecting his teammate. He didn't land as many punches, but he made them count.

  • Harry Neale is an idiot. Might have been an elbow...... yah think?

  • Bob Cole..what more can you say

  • 18 years ago today, legendary fight.

  • 1:30 'This Is Fucking Bullshit'

  • Of course Gilmore is okay. He was one of the biggest divers/actors in the NHL at the time. A great player but a pure baby. Always chirping. Always hidding behind Clark during his days with the Leafs.

  • This game was incredible...And the next game, CBC guys grabbed a few words from each of them before the game....Marty had black eyes and was looking pretty badly beaten up, and Wendel looked fresh as a daisy....this whole series was phenomenal.....

  • This game was incredible...And the next game, CBC guys grabbed a few words from each of them before the game....Marty had black eye and was looking pretty beat up, and Wendel looked fresh as a daisy....this whole series was phenomenal.....

  • In the Toronto paper the next day is a picture of McSorley with 2 black eyes.

  • I don't know how McSorley took that first punch from Clark (not to mention two other doozy's) and kept throwin'. An awesome tilt, and even better series. Such a shame Toronto lost. That final between them and the Habs would have been epic.

  • @JuiceDome I was never a fan of Clark but if you follow hockey history he reminded me so much of Mel Bridgman of the old Flyers. A fighter who did not get the big headlines but could do a lot of damage and should be avoided at all cost in a brawl. He made you pay with his fists.

  • does anyone know where to find the actual footage of the first 15seconds or so of the fight- if my memory is right Mcsorley actually dropped to his knees from the first few punches and took a hell of a beating; check pictures in the TO Sun from the next day!

  • the announcer is a fucking idiot. gilmour's head was up, mcsorley elbowed him. great bout though!

  • if that happened today Gilmour would have been out 3 months with a concussion.

  • Man wendel clark got hammered

  • @wehateturkss are you blind or what, why do you think McSorley covered his face from the camera? Weird eh.

  • these were the days

  • rip pat burns, your teams were always tough and full of heart

  • homer announcing

  • Cab't imagine Kessel reacting like that

  • Clark totally brutalised McSorley's face in this fight. Clark definitely won this one as far as damaged and connected hits. YOu will see McSorley cover the camera with his hand as he walks off, that's because his eye was bleeding and swollen shut already. There was a picture in the SUN of McSorley's face the next day and he looked like he was run over by a MAC truck. Clark didn't have a scratch.

But Mcsorley was a much bigger guy, so Clark did tire at the end.

  • @77dris also mcsorley's jersey coming off put clark at a disadvantage

  • Refs were payed well to make sure L.A. made it to the finals. Worked out well for the Bettman NHL.

  • Clark is a legend.

  • Who is the tranny prostitute on the Leafs' bench?

  • This game is awesome guys get it at blackhatt..com

  • Nowadays, McSorley would be thrown out of every game the way his jersey came off. kinda reminds me of the old velcro straps! "It might have been an elbow eh Harry Neale? I'd like to nail you with an elbow... this game was pretty well over and Mcsorley pulled a nono. Nowadays, you can't throw a nice body check without having to answer the bell....

  • This is the way headshots should be dealt with.

  • dirty hit

  • mc sorley owned him..

  • @khav11 Is that why McSorley looked like a racoon in the next series????????

  • @LeafsNation1990 wow you got me... 894 goals and Gretzky is shit... you took the words right out of my mouth....

  • props to clark flying in to go after mcsorley like that

  • How often do you see that anymore where someone throws his gloves and stick down to the ice and heads right over to kick someone's ass like Clark did?

Now you get the old "You want to? You? Maybe. Well, only if there's no scoring chance for my team. Wait a minute, the refs aren't looking. Let's go to center ice. You and the wife are still coming over for dinner tonight, right?"

  • Gilmour really didn't take that hard of a hit. I think he liked having guys back him up because he sure couldn't fight like McSorley or Clark. Guys in the NFL take shots like that all the time and get up and go about their business. Thumbs up for Clark and McSorley...Gilmour you are an effen puss.

  • There's another scrap going on in case you're interested!!!!

  • im a huge leaf fan and remember that like it was yesterday.

Clark didnt win the fight, he caught Marty with a few nice punches and happen to cut him. Marty was getting the upper hand when refs got in there. Dont get me wrong great fight and wendel is as tough as they come but i think marty won the fight. Marty is also the bigger man too.

  • @MavRav2 also had his jersey come off. that is when he would win. the jersey stayed on mcsorley got his ass beat.

  • harry neale, what the fuck were you watching!

  • Marty Owns!

  • If refs stop someone from pounding an opponent, how can the opponent be considered the victor?

  • clark won the fight and was tired nearing the end of his shift. when clark is angry he is a tough mean guy with heavy hands. marty's face was pretty banged up after.

  • McSorley really showed here his great strenght and punching ability.

    Hes NARROW WINNEr.

  • One of the dirtiest players of all time Gilmour deserves what he got and more - he played in Gretzy's shadow and never could swallow the fact he was less than half the man Wayne was.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrGreeneyes2469 LMAO, Stop posting Bull shit you idiot !

  • @qqq3825 your mama does what to dogs - eats their shit. I will not tell anyone -

  • Awesome to see Clark in action. The next day McSorley's left eye looked like it had been put through a meat grinder. Listen closely to the audio, at 0:13 you can hear Harry Neale, the colour commentator, laughing into his microphone when Clark starts pounding on McSorley.

  • Definitely would have been called a head shot today. What more can you say about Wendel? Pure awesomeness.

  • And they say there is no fighting in the playoffs!?!.. One of the great moments in Stanely Cup history.

  • and i love that you can hear harry neale having a chuckle when clark hits the 4 in a row

  • mcsorley - 2 good rights and numerous noogies. clark - 4 bombs and mcsorley cut. clear cut decision to clark. marty did win the wrestling match though.

  • @nicklenose01

Wendy held on fir life after he threw those bombs and the punches never fazed marty. he was scared because he threw his best shots and all it did was piss of marty.

  • Can't drop your head like that. Gilmour deserved it. Glad the Queefs lost.

  • @padraiga Queefs, how incredibly clever.

Gilmour had his head up, it was a blindside head shot by McSorley and probably would have garnered a lengthy suspension if it happened in today's NHL.

  • clark and glimour, this is my goddamned childhood right here

  • McSorley couldn't play for a week after this fight. True!!

  • @thebigleone Holy crap that's funny! Nevermind that Marty won the fight!

  • Just a blatant example of how dirty the 1992-93 Kings were. And how duplicitous Gary Bettman was (and continues to be). If Rob Pearson had hit Gretzky like that as he was skating inside the blueline, Bettman would've suspended him longer than he did Dale Hunter for hitting Pierre Turgeon.

  • 1:40 ...is that Hrudey hiding in the goal? lol.

  • I guess you never saw Gilmour play. mikee99er.

    Gretzky was a wimp.

Too bad the 93 play offs were fixed !

  • @qqq3825 ya, they were fixed. Because nobody wanted to see Toronto vs Montreal. That's funny.

  • @srkeegan Not when they were trying to get US TV money. you're funny.

  • Clarkie!!! those were the days man

  • Another scrap on incase your interested....LMAO

  • Clark landed the hardest and best shots, but that didn't stop McSorley. Clark was hanging on there. Good fight.

  • Wendel Clark in his prime. Great goal scorer. Great fighter. A Leaf legend.

  • @leafyutube - That is a big negative dickwad - Clark had a broken jaw from the fight, it was not released to the public until after the series.

  • @MrGreeneyes2469

Bullshit! Nothing happened to Clark. McSorley on the other hand got a huge shiner. Punishment from Clark. Now stop posting bullshit idiot.

  • @leafyutube - hey dickfor - I was in the Leafs locker room after the game, - you want to put your money where your mouth is. I will give you 100 to 1 odds - provided you have any money to bet.

  • @MrGreeneyes2469

Um let's see, I'll give you 1000 to 1 odds that you're a fucking idiot.

  • Those shots that Clark landed have got to be the hardest punches in NHL history

  • Comment removed

  • Lol, you're a tool if you think the refs saved Clark. They saved that little puke McSorley from getting his mug rearranged even more.

  • @OkGoJays32

I'm a big Clark fan but McSorley is a tough customer.

  • @OkGoJays32

haha...clark was done for he was lucky the refs jumped in...mcsorely must have thrown the last 20 punches while clark was trying to turtle!

  • Gilmour snapped Sandstrom's forearm previously in a game. That's just Karma. And never drop your head crossing ice..that's just waiting for something to happen.

  • His head was up, watch it again. McSorley raised the elbow and nailed Gilmour.

  • Wendel Clark had KO power in both hands, he swung hard and fast and royally dropped many guys- Alan May, David Maley, Dave Mackey off the top of my head. He would blow guys out in the opening seconds of the fight.

where he didn't fare well were in fights that went longer, like with McSorley here who was known throughout his career for having marathon fights and stamina to spare. Anyone with a modicom of knowledge on hockey fights in this era can tell you this.

  • Trying to fight Wendel Clark is basically considered a suicide attempt, even by big guys like McSorley. Look at Mc's face after the fight...classic.

  • Very well put. Lightening fast, crushing blows with fists that may have well been made out of metal! The undisputed HEAAAAAVVVYYYY WEIGHT CHAMMMMMMPPPIIIOOONNNNN of the hockey bouts... W E N D E L C L A R K. A take no bullshit, straight shooter type of guy who could put the puck in the net and have you think twice about muckin' around.

  • Comment removed

  • Watch it again. Wendel is in full grapple mode for a good 15 seconds before Marty starts pulling out of his jersey at the 33 second mark.

  • Comment removed

  • Let me guess, you give points for takedowns too right? This isn't the ufc or boxing where fights get stopped on cuts or blood. This fight got stopped because one guy was spent and holding on, and the other guy was fired up and firing punches.... so "it speaks for itself who won".

  • Comment removed

  • Nope, you're reaching. After McSorley stunned Clark at the 13 second mark Wendel started holding on for dear life, and it's a full 20 seconds later before Marty finally pulls out of his sweater. Don't further embarrass yourself. Even 95% of the YouTube brigade probably heard of the Rob Ray rule. I started trading game tapes for fight tapes IN 1992 when this fight happened. I don't have time for that anymore but I do moderate on one of hockey fight message boards. Heard it all before my friend.

  • Comment removed

  • WRONG AGAIN! Clark threw MORE punches AFTER McSorley got out of his jersey. Clark started to hang on after McSorley rocked him at the 12 second mark.

  • Never argue against a Canadian, even more so a Leafs fan, about Clark. They think that he is the Jesus of hockey and that he can do no wrong, that he has won everiy fight ever, even ones that he isn't involved in, and he has never lost a game, he just ran out of time. Seriously, don't even bother trying, they are idiots about Clark.

  • LOL, yeah I know that's what makes it fun!

  • Clark didn't do a push up, he pushed the earth down.

    Fuckin legend!

  • Clark pushed the earth down? Chuck Norris line.

  • Clark was Chuck Norris' mentor

  • Look Clark was a tough dude but it was no clear win, they both knocked the shit out of each other.... kudos to both for lasting through this brawl.

  • @MJohnsonRockz no clear win? McSorely's face was all swollen and bruised afterwards, clark was fine

  • True about marty, but Clark wasnt all good... he took some hard shots. Difference is he happened to cut Marty which can happen any fight

  • Comment removed

  • Because Rob Ray was seriously knocking people the fuck out by completely losing his jersey. They had to do something about it. Ray actually continued to score a number of KO's and TKO's regardless though.

  • Incidently, looks up Marty McSorley vs Dennis Vial Rd 2 on here. Vial (who was no cupcake) loses not only his sweater, but his equipment and undershirt moments into the fight, and McSorley still managed to go nearly blow for blow with him.

  • Comment removed

  • that's nice. Let's talk about this fight between Clark and McSorley today. You don't seem to understand the concept that Clark was hurt and trying to tie McSorley up and that is why McSorley pulled out of his sweater.

  • Comment removed

  • Resorting to name-calling ! I love it. You're hoping a few insults will ward me off yes? No such luck. "How was Clark hurt?" you ask. Well how do guys usually get hurt in a fight? McSorely drilled Wendel on the chin after Clark landed those 2big shots and clearly stunned him. IT"S THERE ON VIDEO AT THE 14SECOND MARK!!!! Clark is stunned and stops punching. See? "BASIS"! Ta-daah! I mean, sorry(?) that Marty's black eye didn;t stop from him hitting Clark back AND TAKING OVER THE FIGHT.

  • Clark had to spend 4 hours on the trainer's table before every game just to be able to play...

  • Comment removed

  • LMAO! You are fucking desperate yes? McSorley obviously pulled out of his jersey because he was in the process of trying to beat Clark's ass! And with Wendell doing nothing but trying to hold on and tie Marty up, getting out of his jersey was the way to get back to punching him and in effect, forcing Clark to fight. Clark started it, hit Marty with his best shots and didn't stop him and when Marty landed his counterpunches we see Clark reeling and holding on. Admit it, or keep being my speedbag.

  • Comment removed

  • LOL did you forget McSorley missed the next game because his eye was too swollen?

hahaha. You could argue who actually "won" the fight... Clark punched McSorley's soul though :P

  • That's a MYTH that I already addressed in this debate.

The LA Kings participated in 24 playoff games in postseason 92-93.

Marty McSorley.... appeared in 24 playoff games.

  • Myth? no. Legend? Yes.

Clark is a god amongst men.

  • Almost every tough guy in the league used the overly-loose jersey tactic, a very cowardly trick that Clark didn't utilize himself.

Besides that, Clark was at the end of a shift when the fight started, so he was pretty tired. Clark wins based on facial damage.

  • @ComplexedSociety

and Gretzky's Hat Trick in Game 7 also speaks for itself...

  • Comment removed

  • @ComplexedSociety Then why did the refs come to break it up when McSorley started pounding on Clark's head? Clark got in a few good punches but thats it. McSorley kicked his pussy ass. Who cares about a fight when the Kings won in seven.

  • Comment removed

  • @linam73 Clark a pussy? Um you see who he is fighting? He also fought Probert who many believed was the bets and toughest fighter of all time. Yea clearly a pussy says the jack ass behind a computer.

  • @EyesOfTheSouthSTi

I am a jackass behind the computer? So I guess you replying to comments that were made a month ago makes you a fucking saint.

  • marty wins the fight. clark gives marty his best shots and when he realizes marty wont stop throwing punches he hold on for life. if you can't see that then you are an idiot

  • How so?

I vividly remember the front page photo of McSorley's broken face the next day, while Clark escaped unscathed.

Also, we need to consider a few facts. Clark is a 1st liner and McSorley is a goon. Clark is at the end of a shift, and is also worn out after the hard work he gave during the regular season. McSorley is much larger than him.

Didn't matter. Clark butchered his face. McSorley is lucky that Clark wasn't on a fresh shift or Mc would have been beaten to death with his bare hands.

  • Huh? Marty McSorley scored 15 goals and had 26 assists in 81 games to Wendel's 17 goals and 22 assists in 66 games. Not exactly worlds apart and certainly not the output one would expect from a "goon".

  • McSorley kicked Clark's ass. But still it was a dirty play by McSorley and Clark deserves props for stepping up to him.

  • BTW, I fucking hate the Maple Leafs!

  • you can go die fecalmatterofdeath. LA sucks dick btw clark is my HERO!

  • I really need to start watching hockey again. I miss this kind of stuff.

  • when hockey seemed to have heart... first season I never saw a single leaf moment

  • those were sum 4 right hands by clark lol

  • Comment removed

  • uhh...his head wasn't even down. shut up Neal. he was up and even looking right at McSorley bracing for the hit. McSorley is like 6'4 and he had his elbow way up almost over his own head. this was a ridiculous cheap show, I am sure ordered by that queer Melrose. pathetic!!!

  • Elbow was up; cheap shot.

  • this is the way hockey should be played...

star player skates across the ice with his head down, tough defenceman rightfully hits star player, star player's teammate and captain goes after tough defenceman, tough defenceman answers the call and obliges

that is the code and there is nothing wrong with that, that is honour

  • unwritten rule... Honor if you will, was that you never touch a teams star player, unfortunatly that rule has been thrown out of the arena. You think Gretsky would have played as long as he did if that rule didnt exist? Man, Messieh and Lowe would of had a feild day with whioever did this to ghets. Star players are star players, you dont touch them, i dolnt care who you are, but like i said thats gone now, cause people are worried about their own asses, thats why the NHL sucks compared to 80/90s

  • Every time I watch clips of this series, I have tears in my eyes. What a Leaf team that was.

Fucking Kerry Fraser! I hate the bastard.

  • Best Leaft team with so much heart! Love Clark!!!!

  • But yeah that was real passionate CANADIAN style hockey. That whole year was great in Toronto sports made you proud to be a torontonian.

  • WTF is Harry Neale saying" you can't cut across the blue line with your head down" ?? Gilmour didn't have his head down McSorley committed a vicious elbow hit that's why Clark went in to kick his ass. "it might have been an elbow"" nothing wrong with the hit by McSorley" geez what garbage you think the Kings paid him heavily to make those comments.

  • Totally agreed on the elbow...Gilmour's head was up.

  • I agree. The replay shows that his head was up.

  • i just like how they used to stick up for dirty play, now they bad talk hits and try to make a no head shots rule. QUIT FU$%ING WITH THE GAME!!!!

  • It was an elbow and a late hit.

  • Gilmour had THAT Coming....He used his Stick for Bad purposes for years & he got right up anyways!!....

  • Ha Ha Leaf SCUM....mcSorley BELTED lil' Dougie"Turtle Boy'/stick Artist Also a /Child Molester!) brfore he bitch Slapped Homo Wendell (who was TOUGH for a confirmed Fag....Him & Anderson were a Couple back then!!...The Kings BEAT YOUR ASS....WON Game 7 in Toronto & went to the Cup!!....Leafs STILL BLOW TO THIS DAY!!....MFSS

  • Yeah and how have the KIngs been?

  • Terrible....they've had 2 HORRIBLE Ownerships since Bruuuce McNall went to the Slammer (They're FINALLY on the right track

w/Dean Lombardi building the Young Talent like he did w/the Sharks!!)....but At least they went to the Cup that year (1993)!!...The Leafs haven't been to one since??....GO WINGS/KINGS!!MFSS....

  • what faggot??what do you know about hockey faggot lolol clark destroyed mcsorley that big homo..once again hows your kings queer??

  • Guess you used to "Service" Ol' Wendell & Friends in the Back of YOUR "Cab'.... huh 67'??....me thinks you "protest" a bit too much....It's cool though...there's a Good # of your Kind in ALL Walks of Society...it's just the Leafs ALWAYS had MORE than most Teams!!....Face it the Leafs BLEW w/Wendell & they STILL Blow w/out Him!!....Wendell would turtle like the lil' Sucker punching BITCH he ALWAYS was when he Faced Probie & Joey K!

  • clark never turtled and to my recollection never lost a fight, alot of ties but never lost a fight and as bad as the leafs were in the 80's b4 clark came in,they were injected with heart when he came in toronto.don't worry about my username its just a acroynm worry about your fat gut..merry christmas..btw clark had his number retired..

  • Hey there 67!I NEVER liked Wendell, He even played for My Wings (Briefly!)He was a Talented Spark plug & My HATE has to do w/the Jersey.I understand he was a GREAT Team Guy for the Leafs!I HATED McSorley (Penguins/ Oilers) but I actually found respect for him when he joined the Kings, because outside of his Fighting capabilities he worked VERY HARD & transformed himself into a pretty competent Player!REAL Nice/soft Spoken Dude "off the ice" (like MANY NHL Enforcers)

    Stay Warm/Happy Holidays!MFSS

  • I'm not even a leafs fan and I'll say bravo Wendel Clark, McSorley is a fucking goon.

  • I miss passionate fights like this! The new NHL is garbage.

  • Haha Hrudey didn't want to get beer on his ribbon

  • Clark is being honoured tonight at the ACC!

  • Game 6 was our game. Fucking Kerry Fraser!

  • I remember this...the next game Mcsorely was sporting the biggest shiner...hahahahha

    Clark is a champ

  • i love how they say heavyweights when clark is 30 pounds lighter lol

  • leafs and kings suck my balls, gilmore coulda moved, he seen it coming, marty was probly sent out there to take someones head off and he did wat he had to do

  • I watched this clip on my The Passion Returns VHS tape (which I still have) and I am thinking the same thing you are, he was most likely sent out to take somebody's head off

  • Mcsorley is a fuckin REJECT. He tried to knock Dougie's head off with his elbow. Go fuck yourself Mcsorley & Kings. If the league didnt want an american team against Montreal, TO woulda been partyin about a month or so after this game. Go Leafs Go.

  • Sure he did Susie.

  • they keep saying Gilmour had his head down!!!

he had his head up the whole time looking right at Mcsorely. McS. just went right into him.

  • i know eh

Guess they've never heard of charging or interference lol

    Clarkie is the man!

  • Great Mullet Melrose!

  • I remember this during the Conf Finals on Prime Ticket 1993. What a Classic Series!
