  • Does the poecilitheria ornata have a much more worse bite than the regalis

  • wow, mine will atack ass soon as you open the cage

  • dont get bit by one of those poes lol..

  • yea mine came out of its cage one time...never thought I would see it again but luckily it was recaptured

  • Easy like a G. rosea ^_^ some people don't get that

  • Hi, beautiful T, when handling T's you should really keep them just off the ground, if you jolt or they run and fall to the ground they could have a bad accident and possibly pass away.

I know this video is 4 years old and hope you and your T are doing well.

    -Chalkie

  • P. Regalis Bite_02 (see vid.) very nice regalis though!

  • I cant wait to get my regallis!!!!!

  • DAMN ITS SCARY IN A PRETTY WAY

  • Yeah most regalis' would rather give you a nice bear hug in the face than walk on you.

  • @Ceolmochridbe02 Lies and slander.

  • Really nice looking regalis mate..super calm as well.. you cant do that with many of them...

  • damn such a beautiful one!!! please let this be the only time handling dont take the risk of being in the ER

  • i wish mines wasnt so skittish :/

  • Beautiful. It's a shame so few people realize that even spiders can be pretty.

  • I just picked me up a 1.5" sling today.

  • Love the red labeling "Caution keep closed" I smirked at this.

  • That....is a recently well-fed spider. ;)

  • As beautiful as they are, I wouldn't touch an Old World Spider even if you paid me.

    No way =D

  • That's the most stunning Regalis ever, and you can hold it, wow.

  • Wow! i wont dare to try this with my Regalis, it has attacked me few times...

  • this p. regalis is so calm most of the ones i have seen always try to escape or are very sketchy

  • Can i buy this species from an ordinary exotic petshop just like my chilean rose and mexican redknee?because this species has a nasty bite do they sell them freely as other common species or they have any restrictions? How much it cost?

  • Comment removed

  • @Sofokleousma

Some pet stores will sell them, but it's rare to find. A big one like this is probably $80-100. You're better off buying an adult Avicularia species so you can get used to keeping arboreals. The speed of a Pokie will knock your pants off, and a bite will send you to the hospital.

Getting an Avic first will help you work your way up in the care. They're quick to run but their tempers can get nasty. Pokies don't have urticating hairs like yours, so they bite without warning.

  • u are very brave , i had these and all they did was flash their yellow undersides and venom dripping out of their fangs , this was one of the spiders in my collection that freaked me out even if i had to give it water it would attack the water beam

  • awesome p.regalis...very nice !! one of my fav tarantulas

  • Out of all the pokies I've owned (in the 100s), I've never had the balls to hold a full grown one.

  • beautiful P. Regalis!

I just jumped on the regalis train this last few months and miss doing it sooner!

  • AWSOME!!!!!!!1!!

  • My P.regalis won't let me do such things with her because she's a little bit moody. But with my P.fasciata I can if I would because she's so a gentle spider ;)

You must be lucky with her.

  • Dude, where can u get one of those and can I have it in American, Idk if ur in American or not. lols

  • @rubymarlowe10 Yeah you can get them in the US. I got several poecilotheria species here in Las Vegas. You might have trouble finding one in a store, but online vendors always have them for around 20-30$ for spiderlings and around 100-120$ for adult females. Paul at Petcenterusa(dot)net is a great seller, so is Anastasia at net-bug(dot)net. The buy/sell/trade section of arachnoboards(dot)com forum is always full of great deals as well. Good luck man, I highly reccomend this species-my favorite!

  • @rubymarlowe10 You should know that handling these is V E R Y ill advised. Not even the most experienced handlers are usually crazy enough to hold them. They have the strongest venom of the tarantula family, not enough to kill, but enough to send you into convulsions and seizures if you get bitten. Not for the beginners, not at all.

  • @demongirl0214

Stromatopelma calceatum has the strongest venom, but you're spot on with everything else. Handling this is efinitely a crazy thing to do.

  • @xb70prince Ah I did not know that. Im still an amateur myself, having only had two G. roseas. I try to research as many as I can though. Thanks for the info :]

  • @demongirl0214

You should jump into arboreals (pun intended). Avicularia avicularia is usually available at pet stores. If they don't have them, they can get them. I'd recommend an adult (3-4 inches). Baby Avicsare tough to keep.

I'd go with an Avic, but if terrestrials are more your thing, you should get into the Brachypelma genus. I LOVE my B vagans pair. Small Brachys are easy to care for, and most species are pretty affordable. It's so much fun watching them grow.

  • @ki11qu1ck

Second that with my chillian rose

  • Dude, that's one of the most beautiful P. Regalis I've ever seen. She must be stunning off camera. I hope she has a long healthy life!

  • I sold my indian, there absolutly beautifull but mine was the most aggressive spider iv ever come across, it may well of been to do with the previous owners, but yeah, nice spider!

  • first handling with a poecilotheria????

    you psycho

  • LOL it looks like its made of lego, nice lookin spidy though

  • YOUR ON CRACK I WOULD NEVER HOLD THIS!!!

  • beautiful spider..!!

  • That is a GORGEOUS tarantula. Definitely on my list as I gain more experience owning T's.

  • YOUR FUCKING PYSCHO!

  • omg, i heard it must be fuckin horrible if this one bites you!! all those muscle-pain-shit for days...maybe weeks!!

...my B. auratum is of course maybe the nicest 8legged in the whole world ;D

  • Yeah I stop handling mine after she got about 4". lol

as slings, pokies are sweethearts and when communal in an incubator they often share crickets with each other!

  • @bilbotitface it's a nickname for the genus poecilotheria. Which this species of tarantula he is handling is a member of. It's a lot easier than saying the full name haha they are typically not aggressive, but do have very potent which can make handling an interesting experience haha it typically isn't recommended though.

  • Jesus u just handled a p regalis np. I always get realy shakey handling my Goliath bird eater. U my Freind are courageous!

  • can you help me i wont to hold my tarantula indian ornamental put to jumpy can you help me plez

  • spiders arnt really my thing so dont flame me when i say whats meant by "pokies"?

  • my p.regalis never bites i can put her on my face and pinch grab her :D shes a 4 "

  • wow , I am afraid to handling brachypelma vagans

  • you said that if you want to own a tarantula, you have to be able to handle it... well i would like to see you try handling H. Minax...

  • @cihc123 Any T is handleable. I've handled every T I've ever owned at least a couple times- Haplos, OBTs, pokies, etc, & everything inbetween. You just have to be gentle and know what you're doing.

  • @SpiderShane1

    you have some balls...

  • I got bit by my regalis 3 incher the other day. xD

  • So they are incredibly fast and have strong venom. but you got lucky with a docile one. have you ever been bit.

  • this is agresive spider

  • It's official. I'm getting a few of these! P. regalis take beauty to a new level. And YOU take "balls of steel" to a few new levels. LMAO 8 inches is her size I'm guessing?

  • Gorgeous!!! Mines a lot smaller, but I could not bring myself to handle her. Yours looks great. Not over fed either which is nice to see. Just right man, just right.

  • Looks like something out of blue gender!

  • That is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life.

  • That is awesome that you were able to handle that species. Mine is EXTREMELY aggressive and super fast. You have one cool Indian Ornamental!!!!!!!!!

  • your spider is gorgeous i love her coloring very nice vid

  • extremely relaxed spider.

My two regalis aren't that relaxed... :D

  • just order one 1 inch i have a long way to go ...

question what size is this tank

    beautiful indian ornamental

    and nice set up

  • this is undoubtedly my worst nightmare, but you cannot deny how beautiful & perfect this creature is. The markings are superb.

  • can his venom kill you?

  • ive heard that this species can be very skittish, is that true?

  • wow shes rlly pretty

  • wish i could do this to my 8 inches regalis...

  • i got the same one im so proud :P

  • wow yours is so calm! I can't believe you're touching it lol gorgeous spider

  • dam im planig on geting one i have a emperur scorpion

  • Stunning, absolutely stunning!

  • beautiful spider!!!!

  • I want a spider, but not sure what to get. I don't want to go as simple as a pink toe, but also don't want something as exotic and aggressive as a cobalt blue. Any suggestions?

  • Are you crazy???? You know that proecilotheria are very very dangerous!

  • @piercing13 You are very very incorrect.....

  • were did you get your terrarium?

  • OMG sir, i REALLY want one of these, I have had several different species of T's and this one by far is absolutely the most beautiful.... and she is quite docile... or he. Even this being your first handling, Your very good with them. And this T is especially comfortable with you. May I inquire as to where you got it???

  • are u crazy or something that thing can drop u so fast if it wanted to!!

  • you make me craaaazayyy

  • nice regalis check out my baby pokie video

  • Careful with that beauty!

  • O.O

  • Hey just a quick question besides you holding it are they over all pretty good??? also can u house 2 in the same terrarium???

  • p. regalis is an aggressive tarantula

  • respect :):):):)

  • Very nice regalis!

  • Cuidadín con las Poecilotherias, tienen un veneno muy potente. Eso sí, son preciosas.

    Saludos

  • that's a real beauty you have there

  • ...and hopefully your last. For two reasons.

Reason One: P.Regalis are very aggressive and WILL bite without warning. You really are asking for trouble.

Reason Two: Unless you want a very expensive hobby, you need to sit down when handling tarantulas. A sudden move or misplaced hand will land your spider in a messy heap on the floor.

  • HEY SUP!!!YOUR INSANE!!!

  • I love my avics but i would never dream of holding a pokie

  • now that is one stunning little thing :)

  • Great looking regalis!

  • Awesome regalis, man I love the way they look!

  • Wow, I can't believe you can handle your pokie.

    You're a brave, brave man.

  • Piękny

  • nice poe

  • You are lucky that you can handle your little beauty <3 She is gorgeous.

If I tried to handle my Vermin she would have me for breakfast O=

  • @CallODoom how can be that beast gorgeous ???!!!!

  • Easily? :P I love tarantulas and have 12 at the moment including one of these. I think they are SO beautiful, and have even managed to convert some of my friends to loving them.

So much better than 'normal' spiders.

  • I actually don't like tarantulas but I find them amusing to watch 'O'

  • How long would it rain for if you stepped in this guy...

  • Holy Shit! Dude you are ither a real dumb ass, or you have some HUGE BALLS!! or both.. I agree that you should not show off holding a P. Regalis. Other people out ther are going to really get hurt trying to handle theirs thinking that it can be handled. Not all spiders are the same. I have had rose hairs that would make a baboon look like barney, but then again, i have seen how aggressive t's can be handled, and be gentle creatures. either way, awesome with "taming" your t. just be careful

  • ur a brave man, i personally dont recommend holdin a spider but i can see you got experience :) and handle it softly.

BTW arent u afraid that the she bites the ventilation part? i heard it many times.

Just askin cause i want a exo terra terrarium to :)

  • wow!!! i would personaly never be barave enough to hold a poecy!

  • what u are doing is just stupid. This is a venomous and very defensive species and the distance to the floor could make the tarantula die if it falls...

    1*

  • Pokies along with other arboreals aren't really at much of a risk of a fall from where he was holding it. They jump and land surprisingly well. They know how to land!! Unlike terrestrials.

  • the cool thing is mygalomorphs are pretty intelligent for spiders, and learn. For my spiders, I would give a three-tap signal on the substrate to let em know its me and not food. Even got a few black widows to recognize that, and was able to hand-tame them. I got the idea from watching a spider tap the ground to let the female know he wasnt food or foe. Thats cool man, how spiders talk that way.

  • you crazy cracka!!

  • amen!!

  • wow.. shes very very calm, beatiful T you got there

  • Lovely creature.

  • dude, dont show off holding these type of spider on line coz it might make others want to try to do it it really aint clever i have been bit by a regalis and it will make you think a brain tuma is a birthday present.

  • WTF?! I have one twice as big and I'm F'n scared as hell to even put water in the dish! Mine eats about 1 mouse a week! YOU'RE NUTS!!!

  • I wouldn't keep feeding your T mice...It will cause molt problems because of calcium build up feed it B. Dubia roaches or Crickets..

  • A mice diet will lead to eventual complications for your T. In the wild, they may eat only one or two mice a year if that. Mice are high in calcium and so cause complications to Inverts that do not have the ability to break down such a high level of calcium. This is a massive factor in wet molts that alot of the time leads to death.

  • I wouldn't handle any pokies, but Poecilotheria regalis is probably the least defensive out of all of them, but certainly not a 'docile' species. I think any Tarantula can be a person's first, as long as that person knows exactly what they are getting into and treats the tarantula with respect and extreme caution i.e never handle. I would say get an old world to begin with, but no amount of experience will ready you for the sheer speed of any of the Poecilotheria species really.

  • True, all pokies are incredibly fast, and very defensive as well. As for handling, if you want to own a tarantula, you have to be able to handle it, in case it escapes (which it probably will) or in case of a moulting failure ( which, given enough time, will happen too). Last but not least, for your first Tarantula, I will always recomend a "new world" spider, as they are relatively docile, and only the "tree dwellers" have "wall climbing abilities".

  • I'd never handle a Pokie, simply because the venom is quite potent and symptoms are extremely painful. I can understand the desire to hold all Tarantulas, but these aren't intelligent creatures, they are driven by instinct and if the slightest thing scares them, the Old Worlds especially, will bite and I'd rather get bitten by a mildly venomous T. There is no real need to hold them and bad moults usually only occur from either a high calcium diet or low humidity/temps during pre-moult.

  • @jvede I wouldn't handle a P. regalis free hand simply because they have one of the worst bites as far as T's go. Wouldn't kill you, of course, but it'd send you to the hospital for muscle relaxers and pain killers. If your T gets out, and you'd rather not get bet, I'd suggest a plastic deli cup big enough for the T, and a paint brush.

  • @MegaLongshaft I agree the only T's of mine I handle are my rose hairs. I wouldn't handle a P. Regalis unless of course that person has a pain fetish!

  • @MegaLongshaft I know this comments old but Just had 2 throw out the only pokie I own that i'll handle is my pederseni. My regalis will throw a threat when I open the tank to feed, or do matinance. & my ornatas a freakin psycho lol. I've heard P. Metallica is the "best" if your going to hanlde one. Not likely to stand it's ground, very skittish and would much rather run, and hide. But, i'm glad you mentioned the respect factor. I've yet to be bitten when interacting on the T's terms.

  • super film !!! 5/5

  • BEAUTIFUL BIG AND CUTE ^^ i was thinking of getting spider too

  • I am scared of spiders. I plan on getting one in the near future and this is the one I have chosen to get. I do not plan on handling it because from what I have read, they are aggressive and their bite is pretty bad. My oldest daughter wants one that she can handle, so I plan on getting her a Mexican Red Knee. I will break my fear by holding the Mexican Red Knee. But I want one to keep in my bedroom just to look at and not touch. So this is the one for my room. That thing is beyond beautiful.

  • Comment removed

  • Good luck with that. Poecilotheria IS NOT a Genus for new folks to the hobby. They require an EXACT Humidity Level an EXACT temperature. And there aggressive. Not to mention like you said a very very nasty bite. If you get a Poecilotheria Regalis as your first Tarantula it will spell disaster. If you want a display spider look at the Avicularia Versicolor Or the Avicularia Purpurea. Brachypelma Boehemi Is good as well. Good luck lol

  • I am no longer getting this Tarantula, but only because it can't really be held. The whole special care stuff doesn't scare me. I have been keeping snakes for over 20 years and some of them had very special needs also. And no, me getting it as my first Tarantula would not spell disaster. Only if I was dumb enough to hold it. I have 5 slings coming tomorrow and the versicolor is one of them.

  • Well i was just sharing my opinion on the matter. I have met a couple guys who got a P Mettalica as there first tarantula and unfortunately both of them died in there care. And one of the guys got bit and since hates tarantulas. Its a heated debate about it. But i hope you enjoy your Slings. Versicolor is a FANTASTIC spider it is in my top 10 list for sure. I have a 3 inch Pterinochilus Murinus coming after Christmas. Now that is gonna be fun >.> Lol

  • I am getting Avicularia Versicolor, Avicularia Metallica, Aphonopelma Hentzi, Grammostola Rosea. Those are the ones I ordered. As a freebie, I am getting Brachypelma Emilia. I can't wait to break my fear of spiders (which I got from being bitten as a kid by a Brown Recluse). I ordered off Ken the bug guy. Good luck with your new Tarantulas. I do plan on getting into pokies, but not for another year or two.

  • @RoadRashBurn Very nice collection. Are you thinking about Breeding in the near future? Im going to start my first breeding project soon. Yes the Brown Recluse is a spider to fear and Respect. It is quite Dangerous. I also ordered from Ken hes a great dealer. Have you Registered on Arachnoboards yet?

  • I would like to get into breeding when they are old enough (biggest is the versicolor at 1"). No I haven't registered to Arachnoboards yet. I didn't want to until I actually owned my own Tarantulas. I just unpacked all 5 of them and the versicolor pooped on me. :P Now that I have them, I will register. I will PM you my screen name once I am registered.

  • Comment removed

  • Nope, I didn't over pay, but thanks anyways. I got off Ken the bug guy. So far the G. Rosea is very docile. Also I got a free B. Emilia with my order.

  • seriously I'd be pissed if a Metallica I just paid for died in my care, those Pokies cost a fortune!

  • So would I. I am new to spiders, but not exotic pets. I have been into reptiles for 24 years. I still think I would have been fine with a pokie as a first T, but I am happy I decided against it. Although I do plan on getting a few P. Metallicas in a year or so. I would like to breed them both to make some money and just to have more of them in the trade.

  • If you are new to spiders, I will not recomend P. metallica. They are as beautiful as they are expensive. But, they are extremely shy, more so than other pokies. As for handling. Again, they are very shy and skittish, so handle with care and conviction.

  • Well considering I never said anything about getting a P. Metallica, I see no reason for you to recommend a P. Metallica anyways. But for the record, I do plan on getting a few P. Metallicas in the future. In like maybe two years. Also, I am new to spiders, not knew to keeping things that need special care. I have been into snakes for 24+ years now. I could go get a P. Metallica right now and I would be fine. There is 0 difference between caring for a snake and a spider.

  • Comment removed

  • There are snakes with special needs and there are spiders with special needs. There are snakes that you just don't hold and there are spiders that you just don't hold.

With that said, thanks for caring enough to warn about pokies not getting for beginners, but really, I am no beginner.

  • Reading this, i can agree with what you are saying, I'm only 16 and haven't had near as much experience with reptiles as you, but i have had snakes and lizards all my life, and 2 tarantulas. i just want to say i agree with you that you could more than likely take care of it even if it is your first t. i would probably just recommend getting a lot of info on it.

  • @jvede

Really ? If you look around the forums or youtube videos , metallicas are the most docile and handleable . Look around . But yeah , they are expensive which sucks .

  • My buddy got tagged by a ghost ornamental a few weeks ago and it was pretty bad,he was in a fair bit of agony the first day or so, he couldnt bend his legs the next day. awesome spider though

  • wtf dude ur fuccin badass for handling a regalis man! nice t!

  • niiiice pokie bro!

  • aboreals that arent over-fat can easily survinve a fall. terrestrials X_X

  • so beautiful ant SO big!!!

  • u r very brave dude

  • i wouldnt dare to handle a regalis :D i almost get a heart attack when my versicolor jumps into my hair *g*

  • very nice! your pokie seems very nice.

  • Yeaa this is agressive spider but most beuty, i have P.murinus usambara

  • that is one healthy vibrant pokey it obviously likes you lol!

  • i just picked one of these little SOBS up for free, he is about 1" total, and care seems fairly simple.

anyone got any decent caresheets? as if care was really that hard.

also, dude what did you do to get it so chill llike that, everyone i see on youtube is a F'n spaz.

  • My God that is one beautiful spider.

  • nice, but you should hold her closer to the ground, just in case!

  • you realize spiders live outside up to 10 feet from the ground? a 3 foot fall wouldn't even faze a tarantula

  • theres a difference between true spiders, and tarantulas. Tarantulas are a lot heavier, and their abdomens are pretty soft. Ive seen a tarantulas abdoment burst from a 1 foot fall. Although the specie this dude is currently handling is arboreal, may be a bit more agile from falling.

  • belive they can burst and will die. habend so with my theraphosa blondi.

  • beauty!

  • nice poe!

  • i cant wait till i get one there amazing and just great colors

  • they are very aggressive species this guy is crazy.

  • beautiful regalis man! i love them, mine is about 2" but growing fast. they are VERY fast and nervous, dont want to handle mine... (yet) :)

  • nice poe i love it <3 :P

  • I can tell your tarantula is well cared for, very nice to see. They sure are great pets :)
