  • the musical layers are insurmountable in his definition of music, and the instruments seem to have a way of collapsing upon themselves and yet harmonizing with one and other.brilliant.aphex is way to far ahead of his time.i always wonder if he knows that or not?

  • ZZZzzzzzzzzzz!

  • no mames q buen video q buena musik no mames a todos los q le gusta esto son una chingoneria

  • @AkimboNinjaPWN Yea I definitely hear Near's Theme in here.

    Yay for Death Note!

  • @ScaryMonstahh What cartoon are you talking about?

I found the song but i'd like to know the name of the cartoon.

  • @ronstero Death Note.

  • @ScaryMonstahh Okay so death note stole the whatever theme from aphex.

  • @ronstero They didn't necessarily steal it.

  • deewezilagel

  • that wuldnt be so magical underneath the stairs sounds like child abuse more lke

  • 1st of all brostep is not a **** word, 2nd people who listen to "dubstep" are on par with in my opinion My Little Pony fans, and 3rd if you are the same people who are just discovering aphex twin ... you know what I dont know where I was really going with that

  • so..................harry potter?

  • This sounds like the music from the tv show Touch <3

  • Tsss tss tss crik thsht crik

  • @75tanaka no but he did have a studio in a bank.

  • Fantastic clip art

  • why did he quit to hit us some more with his shit ?! :(

  • @gzagzagenius He has not quit.

  • Simply beautiful. This is my favorite Aphex Twin track.

  • :')..

  • @PScullProductions I read it. I'm a director. I'd love to have you come over, bby. Lemme film that perfect bod!

  • Holy fuck that video is amazing

  • MEH...all is illusion.....

  • one day, people will know that music is just music. Until then, have your mtv.

  • idk what to say...I LIKE AND LIKED IT! all i got :(

  • You're a wizard Harry.

  • @xxChibiBakaxx i litterally heard hagrid that shit was sureal hahaha

  • @X31V hahahahahahaah same!!!! i thought that shit was just me

  • @xxChibiBakaxx Your a Lizard Larry.

  • debajo de las pequeñas cosas se encuentras grandes maravillas....vos lo ves?

  • and any way this genre is called plinkyplonkystep.

  • SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUP GODAMMIT!! I CANT HEAR THIS TUNE WITH ALL YOU BASTARDS TALKING. GAWL!

  • the genre is not dubstep or trance or anything like that the genre is good music

  • so does the boy under the staircase get raped or is it a boring ending?

  • @kleptomaani do idiots like you just never shut up? that comment was as amusing as terminal cancer. it was totally unnecessary you dumb prick!

  • I find this song to be very relaxing.

  • think of the sobering concepts this suggests.

how did the boy get stuck under there?

    why is he there?

    is he being held?

or is he simply a demon?

  • @TheBlackWorkshops The meaning (atleast to me) is, at the end you can see that moth leaving. Just at the end you realise that all those things happened under a staircase...so the question is: How many amazing things will happen to him when he goes outside?

  • @TheBlackWorkshops the fuck are you on?

  • this boy may just lurk under your own staircases, fellow commenters, some time, when there is no one else about - why not check?

It would be your good deed of the day, ending his solitude

  • epicly wierdly fucking awsome :S the beat is fucking sickly cool

  • Fuckin' Be-utiful.

  • I wish I had a magical life under a staircase...

  • Wow, just like a music box I still have from when I was little! It was also my Dad's when he was little. Very spooky but makes me very nostalgic!! Heard this track at the end of film called Morvern Caller. :-))

  • if this is 240p then id love to see what its like in hd

  • Skrillex posted on his twitter that this song is the best. To say either genre is inferior is foolish and narrow minded. We can all take little pieces of all music and incorporate it into something new and amazing.

  • Can't stop replaying this, addicting.

  • lucky bastard..lol....im so jealous. lol...:) *devours* ∞

  • This song pretty much IS Near's theme from Death Note. Everybody has to check it out, it seriously is almost 100% the same. I wonder which came first, and if they copied each other? /watch?v=WJW_ldC7sUA

  • @th3legendofzelda Dude you are a retard.

  • @thetinguy1

    Well he's right. It's a copy.

  • @th3legendofzelda

Well, seeing as the Nannou song was released on the WindowLicker EP in 1999 and Death Note at the earliest of 2006, I'd say Nannou came a good portion before Death Note.

I don't own the sleeve notes to the Near theme, so I don't know if it's credited or not. I'd imagine it is.

  • @xtjax hmm, thank you. Great piece of music.

  • @th3legendofzelda Nannou was a B side to Aphex Twin's Windowlicker in 1999; Death Note was first published in 2003 and only adapted to film/TV in 2006. It's pretty blatantly ripped off.

  • @cheshacatcsa agreed.

  • @th3legendofzelda

Instead of wondering which artist came first, couldn't you have just done a couple of google searches before bringing your stupidity here?

  • @Spr4ynPr4y Oh hey nice comment, kill yourself. :D

  • I want this song to be played in my funeral.

  • youtube commenters are retarded

  • @pihesfsk and what are you may i ask?

  • @Rastaman230208 that's the joke

  • @pihesfsk no shit sherlock

  • @pihesfsk we're part of them then? :D

  • @pihesfsk you go gurl

  • @pihesfsk indeed

  • @AVeryCheekyMonkey plural of commenter - 'one who makes or writes comments'. perfectly valid word, it is in the dictionary.

  • Aphex twin and Venetian Snares are my all time favorite artists.

  • rachet driver or Zip tie?

  • I'd like one of those toy boxes

  • Weird thing, all of these people having these complete nonsense discussions wether or not a certain song belongs to a certain genre... This music is definitly not about "hey, I'm gonna make some house/dub/techno/drill'nbass/IDM/.... today". Even a deaf man should hear that all of afx's music is made just to explore all possibilities of music by a very musical talented man, this just can't be caught in a one-word genre description...

  • @tchn preach!

  • @tchn i think Aphex Twin just makes music in genre called Aphex Twin :)

  • @tchn i want some milk, from the milkman's wife's tits.

  • @tchn Well said!

  • I love this song.

  • yes IpswichTilliDie1. I agree

dub step needs to emphatically suck Nannou's balls

  • Music is music come on. people who truly love music will at least have there mind try any type of music. I think ppl hate dubstep cuz its a new type of techno and trolls/assholes claim to only like the same shit they've been listening for years and deny to consider other beats

  • @ohhhhamy Burial and Distance and people like that are a poor shadow of the AT. Not that I don't love dubstep. At least the kind that liquefies internal organs.

  • It's called IDM in yankee land. In Europe, this is techno.

  • Really want to find the Celine Elia version . . . . Can anyone help please, cant find it anywhere :(

  • retards dont understand music this is music)

  • How dare people insult dubstep by comparing it to aphex twin!

  • i'm a massive dubstep fan. i'm also a massive aphex twin fan. since they are entirely different sounds i don't see how comparing them is insulting. there are some incredibly deep and complex dubstep tracks out there, as well as the fun nasty stuff. this certainly isn't dubstep (although i can't call it IDM, since richard has some kind of pathlogical aversion to the label).

  • Aphex Twin is a genious, and this track is so emotional

  • videos too dark, don't see anything good.

  • @countyingula yeah youre right but it was uploaded in 2005 and youtube didnt had HD backthen :/

  • It's hard not to imagine a bit of Richard's own childhood experiences on this kid

  • lol i don't understand why aphex twin videos are a lil bit diabolic, but i like them!

  • always had me scratching my sequencer this one.

  • not every tune needs a big bass section

  • @lilfunker86

Too true,,,, spoken like a man that understands :-)

  • @lilfunker86: wordd

  • Happy 40th Birthday Richard

  • reminds me of kanye west - blame game

    but this version is better

  • @barttez

the kanye west- blame game sample is avril 14th

  • @TheMonkey3001 F*ck that! o_o¨

  • love it!! :)

  • god... and ive heard this song for years and thought it would be black-metal.... now i realised its dub-house... i dunno where to put all my black clothes now

  • "...And I'm a Mormon"

  • The description sounds like Harry Potter... Good shit.

  • This has to be one of my favorite post-punk songs of the 70's.

  • Just because you like dubstep and you also like this does NOT make this dubstep. Richard James has been making this sort of complex electronica (though this track is mostly acoustic) since the 80s. Get a clue. This is just GOOD MUSIC period. Listen to some of the more complex classical compositions to hear a lot more similarities. And House music? really? I hope that was a joke.

  • @sleepersoundstudio Aphex Twin made music way before people had CD'players :)

  • @vanessagfernandes death note is nerd fag emo shit

  • of course this is dubstep, although the middle part also sounds like shoegaze or oldskool hiphop

  • @vork666

    >this song

    >dubstep

    nooooope

  • @JFStarwood

    >facepalm

    >facepalm

    yeahhhh

  • @vork666

Darlin, this is not dub, it's house.

  • @TheBehattedOne i don't think you can label aphex twin as house, it's just music isn't it, he wasn't trying to create house music it is what it is. And anyway house sounds nothing like this :P x

  • @06164676

Hm, perhaps you are right, I'm obviously not a professional.

  • @06164676

    who's phonenumber is that ;)

  • @Rafzorz1 hehe call it and find out

  • @vork666 I just don't know how to react to this comment. You're just...so dumb(step).

  • @fritzerz9 i know that irony is sometimes hard to detect in a youtube comment, but i thought the shoegaze gave it away

  • @fritzerz9 Oh you.

  • "Laurent Briet directs the video about a boy's magical life under a staircase."

    Harry Potter?

  • @angelofdeath275 Probably.

    2:57 Harry rubbing his scar.

  • NEVER compare Aphex twin to dub step. Its insulting!

  • @IpswichTilliDie1 "I just think it's really funny to have terms like that. It's basically saying 'this is intelligent and everything else is stupid.' It's really nasty to everyone else's music. (laughs) It makes me laugh, things like that. I don't use names. I just say that I like something or I don't." ~ Richard

  • @IpswichTilliDie1 dubstep not dub step, incidentally watch?v=hSe03Dsh7Y4&feature=player_embedded

  • @IpswichTilliDie1 TO DUBSTEP.

    OOOOOOH BURN.

  • @IpswichTilliDie1 It's criminal!

  • @IpswichTilliDie1 -I SECOND THAT!!! THANK YOU!

  • @IpswichTilliDie1 I h8 to break it to you trust me i love AFX but you should know he broke dubstep on the scene by releasing the bugs album pressure drop & a string of "grime" releases on rephlex back in '03 can be seen mixing dub step in a dj set at led fest with die ant woord dubstep sucks but we gotta deal with it! Truth hurts! Id attach the links but it says error....

  • @IpswichTilliDie1 stfu dub step is amazing

  • @sasukeuchiha2805 It doesn't even have any dub sound in it anymore.

  • @IpswichTilliDie1 there both electronic music. i guarentee u i could find ubstep that u would like

  • @IpswichTilliDie1 Insulting the dubstep, you mean

  • poor kid

  • what album did this song come out in ? its not in the Drukqs album unless it is and its under a different name

  • @jeasocrazy "Nannou" is from the Windowlicker EP. The music on that likely came from the same creative batch as Drukqs (listen to "Equation" and "54 Cymrubeats").

  • Comment removed

  • @patricksudbury No it doesn't.

  • Comment removed

  • @jeasocrazy it is on drukqs album

  • Comment removed

  • @patricksudbury oh right, my bad

  • @jeasocrazy windowlicker (single) contained this song

  • the staircase at the end of this video is the same one used in the first harry potter movie, the one that harry slept in. LOL WUT?

  • This is good dubstep

  • @SuperVenasaur this is nowhere near dubstep dude

  • sweet song !!! like it !!

  • Neat!

  • fucking sweet song

  • this year attending ilosaari festival @ finland, joensuu

  • WOW THIS IS REALLY GOOD!

  • If only more people could take the curious step into Aphex land. It's a world where noise is music and music is noise and words are meaningless. It has inspired me and opened my ears to a new plethora of musical adventure.

  • Does anyone find aphex twins music to be very red?

  • @RoboticusMusic Nope, but I think it smells like sesame butter.

  • @RoboticusMusic oh look at me I'm synaesthetic

  • @eetherealflux hahahahahaha yes. you are too, watch this. watch?v=o39TiACe4mw

  • @RoboticusMusic no i see it as white
