@UnifiedaxxS 3g is a form of cellular networks, meaning it is owned by phone companies. in america = ATT, japan = softbank and so on. The sole difference is that 3g is country wide meaning you can access the internet anywhere (except in the ocean and underground) whereas wifi is consumer bought devices that are limited and can some times be found, wifi hotspots only offer wifi with a certain range, once you go out of it you dont have it. There hotspots are found in starbucks mcdonalds, etc.

In my experience, 3G internet runs slow. It takes a while to download pages through my phone.

Don't pay more for 3G. If you're resourceful enough (like I am) you'll find away around just wifi. I have the HTC Incredible on vVerizon, rooted it and now can use the hotspot feature for free. Broadcasts a strong signal that I can connect an iPad and other devices and use wherever and whenever don't even come close to capping Verizon's 5GB "unlimited" data plan. Benefits of wifi and 3G all the time...and only for the cost of the 16gb wifi model.

@FrEsHPrinceOfSwaG No, you misunderstand me. If you have a setup where you can use your mobile phone as a hotspot, then you can use internet on your wifi iPad anywhere you can on your phone. The data plans for the iPad are not that efficient and grossly overpriced (for both ATT&T and Verizon.) I use my HTC incredible as a hotspot (for free if you know your away around the android firmware). My advice, if you have a smartphone, research using that as a hotspot before you pay for 3G service.

I returned my 3G iPad 16GB to Best Buy (no restock) and got the 16GB Wifi model. It is better to route or jailbreak your phone versus getting the 3G model, unless you don't own a smartphone.

I choose also the Wi-Fi Version, because i just don't need Internet all the time, just home and at some hotspots, and of course it's even more expensive than the already expensive Wi-Fi Version, now I think there are better data contracts here in Germany than with AT&T like HolyLightningWolf described it (10€ for 200MB, but you can still watch, but after 200MB it will slow down from 3G to GPRS)

@mikeystrat No you dont have to pay. You need internet to use the maps app so if you use a 3G network you have internet everywhere. Therefore you have GPS everywhere too, at no extra cost to your 3G plan.

But with AT&T's stupid data plan changes, I can only watch a max of 2-3 videos before my data runs dry, forcing me to pay another $25 just to watch another 2 videos!!

But with Wi-Fi, I can watch as many videos as I want on YouTube for FREE.

You dont even need 3G. First, the iPad is big (still portable though) ,but big. Your not going to take places constantly (including school) plus it's expensive. Next, even if you do take it every where, most buildings have wifi. Then, there's the fact that 3G is slower than Wi-Fi, and even 3G iPad on Wi-Fi is still slower than the regular iPad on Wi-Fi. The 3G iPad weighs slightly more than the regular iPad. You have to spend like $130 more too!
