  • This song still gives me goosebumps. Fantastic.

  • I guess ive only heard new anniversary. This caught me off guard . But i dig it.

  • The fathers of ''the subways and silversun pickups....''

    :)

  • 6 people have shit in their ears.

@crackerstick72001 if it makes you have bad thoughts, don't listen to it. Don't thumbs down a great band like a weenie though!

  • I had to dislike this sorry people. Great song, bad thoughts of an ex girlfriend.

  • @crackerstick72001 that is not a reason to dislike a song. it's a reason to maybe not listen to it.

  • @crackerstick72001 boo hoo

  • still love this song

  • ahah! my friends teacher was in this band XD

  • so glad i stumbled onto this...

  • @oohhjulia Me too. This isn't my usual stuff, but it's good times.

  • God this is awesome!

  • the anniversary became "the only children"

  • @tomata182 actually The Anniversary became about 3 or 4 other groups/solo acts all of which are amazing. Check out Dri, White Flight, Fourth of July, Extra Classic, and of course The Only Children as you mentioned. You can find info for all of them except The Only Children on Range Life Records.

  • Is this a real band?

  • @MulberryNails yes, this is a real band. Amazing at that, check out the designing a nervous breakdown album... special.

  • Best band.

  • 2:34

  • Carson Dailey is a mook, the Anniversary is awesome

  • They don't make bands like this anymore=/

  • Best song I've heard in a long time. I can't believe I missed out on this song all these years it's been out. This song kind of reminds me of Rainer Maria's song made in secret.

  • Memories of playing Amped on Xbox....

  • :( tearing up over here man.

  • amen bro.

  • Great song. I really like their sound. Kind of reminds me of The Rentals with the synth backing.

  • @UsualMike

yes, it is the usual, but do not ignore the post-punk style, making it the synthesis. There should have been more Rentals.

  • I had the fortune of making friends with Dri when I lived in Lawnrence. These guys had so much talent. It's a shame that the band broke up when it did, but they left their mark. I make sure to introduce all my new friends to The Anniversary. "Designing for a Nervous Breakdown" was excellent, and it's great that "Your Majesty" was so accessible, because it's a great way to introduce would-be fans to such an awesome band.

  • WTF i just looked over at my albums and saw this old gem. and the CD is GONE!!.

man her voice is just angelic. this takes me way back lol.. feel good music from my high school days. :D:D:D

  • i stole it.

  • i think i've listened designing a nervous breakdown 5 thousand times and still doesnt bore me. Masterpiece

  • @phpordie Agreed. The soundtrack to the greatest summer of my life.

  • i saw these guys 9 years ago at the WOW hall in Eugene Oregon and it was true love... i still can't get enough of them

  • They lost their way, I LOVE THEM ANYWAY AND UP YOURS.

  • the forecast sounds like this band hah

  • O.O OMG FURRIES! YIFF IN HELL!

  • Da hora ó! Das antiga!

  • This bring me back to my time i spent in Kc.

    good times.

  • the moog makes this band

  • their good

  • this is before the lead singer got all cracked out

  • I love this band, its so like third year material but its grate!!!!!

  • love this song.. mates of state really cashed in on their sound

  • ive heard rumors but why did this band break up?

  • I found a link to a 2000 review of Designing a Nervous Breakdown in The Pitch Kansas City Newspaper and though it was pretty rad! It brought back so many memories and I still can't get DANB out of my rotation. So I'm writing an article re: The Anniversary's DANB being such a great unheard of (largely) indie-pop album.

The article should be published by tomorrow and no later than this weekend on TheVelvetJesus website.

  • Sweet deal! Keep us informed :D

    peace

  • you was not into this music if you didnt know about them

  • u sound like a douche

  • @eckoecho I know it's been a couple of years but what I had gathered, Adrianne married one of the Get Up Kids (TGUK had brought the Anniversary to Vagrant's attention in the first place and got them signed). Then Adrianne cheated on him. I think that the controversy got them dropped from the label, and they broke up.

  • lol

    kind of a cheesy video..

the song more than makes up for it though

    i like this band

  • this Really brings me back

  • amazing

  • this brings me back

  • Soooo gooood

  • wow this brings me back to my high school days, this band was amazing.. along with all the vagrant groups of the time!

  • wow great band

  • o my god this band makes my day..

  • o MY GOD i LOVE THIS BAND.. !! I WISH THEY WERE MAKING NEW MUSIC AND PLAYING TOGETHER

  • lol i saw them with dashboard and saves the day in 2001 in cleveland... the hotel sucked...

  • love the,m . best band with get up kids

  • can you download their songs from limewire

  • You can BUY them from places like emusic and itunes. C'mon, man, support independent music.

  • You also can buy them at your local indie music shop and not support emusic or itunes and paying for shitty sounding hypercompressed music. Plus keeping your money in your community is a good idea.

  • yeah you can

it's better to download music illegally cause it's not like emuisc and itunes actually give the money to the bands

or just go buy the album

  • amaaazzing. they are releasing an 22- track album on june 24th 2008 by the way-- 11 PRE-designing a nervous breakdown, and 11 post.

    yay.

  • I NEED to know where to get this album!

  • The album is called 'Designing a Nervous Breakdown', and you are on the internet, so that means there are only a million places for you to purchase it.

  • Somebody else in my house mustve been on my account cause I have this album.

  • this song got me into them

    thanks for posting

  • This song got me into them too. Go amped :D

  • did they finally make it to trl?

  • underratted, even if it was the only great album the had (although their splits and eps were great)

  • dont down play their album "your majesty" that was good as well but it wasnt as pop/synth rock as this one was. "your majesty" was more about rocking out.

  • "your majesty" was ok. i liked it, but i just didn't think it was as great as this one. and if you've noticed, this was more natural for them. check out Dri's latest LP...it's far from Your Majesty.

  • Absolutely great, fantastic, brilliant record. Just like someone said, probably one of the best records coming out of 'emo' scene. It´s just that the next one was a total failure in my opinion, something totally different, remember when I've heard it for the first time, I swear I almost didn't cry...

Saw them once w/The Get Up Kids in 2000, euro tour. It was Copenhagen, Denmark. Amazing show, just amazing. Still have a lightblue shirt. Few days ago I won 'Designing the nervous b.' vinyl,on ebay.

  • Great song... even better album. They played a show in College Park, MD way back in 00' or 01? w/ Hey Mercedes & Dashboard (pre-MTV Dashboard) ...it was off the charts.

  • A.V.,.please do another album like this!!! MAybe with the Get Up Kids even...I'll bank roll it. google fireparade records or visit my channel.

    Holla!

  • Designing a Nervous Breakdown is probably one of the best "unknown" emo albums, or pop albums for that matter! I still have my Anniversary shirt which is like almost 10 years old and I still wear it...Rock on! Check out my channel...holla

  • "you're gonna have ride the randy train!"

    and that jaguar is amazing.

  • I love this band. Every time I see this video I smile.

  • These dudes slash babe were my dad!!!

  • That sentence didn't make any sense.

  • Made perfect sense to me, dad. You a poser?

  • wow. brings back memories.

    look at my channel.

  • One of my favorite videos evar.

  • ♥ this song!

    its freaking rad=D

  • justin roelofs what happened?

  • see The OnlyChildren

  • dude i remember this album, it was awesome, still is

  • Yay! The Anniversary is getting together to release their unreleased music along with a DVD in 2008! Go check their myspace profile if you don't believe me.

  • NO WAY NO WAY NO WAY ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!??!!! hhhhhhhdfhdsjkafhs

  • I love this band.

I really wish they could've at least made the third album they'd started work on.

  • so much potential. I wish they would have ignored the nonesense.

  • i dont see how this is a rip off of sugarcube at all, the only similar thing is they start off in a room with executives yelling

  • love the song, love the first album... but this is a huge "sugarcube" ripoff.

  • Wow, Justin Roeloffs.....

  • I heart Adrianne Verhoeven- She brought the much-needed sound of both female vocals and Moog to the genre.

    How I miss "The Anniversary"!

  • hell yeah with the bears and blackhawks stuff.

  • bad ass band and song but I didn't really like this video :/

  • Such beauty!

  • The Anniversary needs to get back together and make more great indie rock...I hate all this teeny bopper crap nowadays

  • this makes me so happy

  • if you like this video you should see the original one that yo la tengo did with mr. show for sugarcube.

  • wow. just wow. been searching for this for forever. thanks for posting! its better than all that mtv "cute is what we aim for" teenybopper stuff

  • I agree, one of my favs too

  • i met the drummer in person every christmas, of course he's mii cousin =]]

  • tell him random guy on the internet said he's music was awesome! and hope he's still playing music!

  • I bought a moog and joined a band like 6 yrs. ago after watching this video. And I haven't looked back

  • When I was in high school I wanted a Moog so bad because of this band. My boyfriend hates this band. He says that she doesn't use her Moog to its full potential.

  • I love this song :)

  • Same here, thanks for posting goodfruit. Are there anymore videos of this mighty band? Another one of those under-rated bands.

  • i miss them!

  • Rad song. Too bad they had to put out Your Majesty and then break up. Designing was such an essential album to my life.

  • serious all time fave !!

  • Thank you for posting, I love and miss this band so much. It was good to be able to see the video. :)

  • yeah, it is a shame they split up... this is such a great track that i still listen to 'til this day.

one of my all time favorites, hands down.

  • i LOVE LOVE LOVE this song!!!

  • one of my favorite all time tracks. =]

  • Haha, "Ride the Randy train!" Such a shame they broke up. They were so good.

  • THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!

  • love this!

  • all time favorite song

  • my god this video is so incredible... i've been looking for this for years. thank you SO MUCH for posting it!
