America can't judge talent and American Idol deserves

to get bashed by its critics. But if these two finish

This is getting on my nerves because you're saying that America would rather choose an unoriginal great singer(Melinda or KiKi), rather than a original potentailly phenominal singer (Jordin). Melinda might be in the top 3, but like KiKi, she's getting kind of boring while Chris is singing really good and being current and modern, same with Blake. Jordin is fresh, original, beautiful smile, amazing personality, and phenominal voice. Why should two unoriginal trained singers beat her out?

I don't think Mau's voice is nearly as good as Lakisha's. It's restricted and small. Lakisha is powerful and free. Melinda blew the socks off Shirley Bassie. I listened to Shirley's version, it just didn't quite do it for me. Lakisha does sing a verse differently too. (FROM A JORDIN FAN)

IMO, she tried to be too much like Shirley Bassey. When she does that, it invites the comparision. It's a decent imitation of Shirley but it's not Shirley. You'd rather have the real Shirley. Jordin and Melinda both did songs Shirley Bassey has also performed; but they performed it like themselves. That's why they were better.

I agree with you, Daybreaq, I felt she was copying Bassey's phrasing a little too much. She really didn't -- to use Randy's favorite line -- "make the song her own". Bassey's voice is so one of a kind if you're going to tackle one of her songs you at least have to do it completely different to stand apart from that legend.

Mau Marcelo's performance for Philippine Idol is excellent. She interprets the song very well and she has great style and stage presence. But with all due respect, she can't touch Lakisha vocally. Mau hits a number of sour notes, and she just doesn't have Lakisha's vocal command. I'll give a slight performance edge to Mau (although I wasn't crazy about her arrangement) but Lakisha takes the vocal honors, hands down.
