  • HILD THE FUCKING CAMERA STILL DUMBASS

  • you can hear their breaths

  • I understand the beauty and awesomeness of every second of this but I do NOT see the point of screaming and yelling about it. Lol

  • the crowd sounds like their getting gigantic dicks in their buttholes. -.- plz shut up and let others enjoy the beauty and majestic power of this melody >=/

  • when you hear this from a distance, it just seems like the air becomes electric

  • This is definentely somthing I WOULD WANT to be caught playing!

  • wow tha begining is rattler 2 but tha rest is beast!!! :)

  • I thought people screaming WAS the point?:o)

  • You know, somewhere in between a 1:30 and on it sounds like they're playing the theme from close encounters of the third kind.

  • @ForeverandayOne That's because they were........

  • yes, on their horn line CD's there are no shouts

  • too bad people dont understand dci IS NOT a rock concert where its ok to cheer in the middle of the performance... I know people are excited, but not only are you ruining it for everyone else, but do you really think anyone on that horn line can hear you?

  • @afhostie wrong.

  • @afhostie Yes. We can.

  • @afhostie soooo, what are you saying? you cant hear people during a swim meet either, but they still scream as loud as possible.

  • @Redheadeddude41 At a swim meet, nobody cares about the groaning that's involved with men who are wearing/not wearing speedos and having gay sex for everyone to watch. When you're watching a fucking drum corps, you listen to the music, not watch the euphs sweat as they hold up their horns.

  • @afhostie this is supposed to be a warmup..

Every time i hear the Space Chords, i just cheer and scream my heart out when i hear that piece coming together.

  • just gives you the chiillllzzzzzzzzz....... 0_0

  • seriously patindahat07. you're right, I just want to hear the band not screaming when I'm trying to feel the chords. I love this it gives me tingles, but when people come in screaming it turns me off. haha

  • damn!!!!!

    tht guy needs to move!!!!

  • 1st you're holding the camera, shut up

2nd they are performing, shut up

    3rd sick warmup

  • @djg093

    -cough-

    Your a spectator, shut up

  • @HeyThereSteven

    -cough-

You're in the Blue Devils, shut up

  • @djg093

    1st-2nd-and 3rd- youre totally right

  • Comment removed

  • yeah, if you're holding the camera, you probably shouldn't scream. IMO

  • mmm thats tastey right therrr

  • Wow!!!

  • are there any videos of this WITHOUT people shouting and cheering within close proximity to the recording device? Trust me, I am just as excited as you are, cheering people. I just want to hear the horns on high volume without a shriek shattering my concentration.

  • @Patindahat07 Yeah man check out the video I re-uploaded. It kicks balls.

  • @Patindahat07 If you find someone tellme please.

  • @Patindahat07 Surprisingly at Moonlight Classic (stockton,ca) No one was screaming, We all were real DC members (past and present) and we let the wall of sound sink in.

  • Really good, My brass section only has 12 ppl in it for Marching season, I would love to play in a brass section that was that big :( There's only 40-50 ppl in MB counting colorguard & pit

  • all i got to say is beasty

  • i love that peddle tone!!!!!!!

  • its "pedal" dumbshit

  • dont have to be an ass if i dont know how to spell it right

  • Calm the fuck down..

  • my god, those last couple chords give me chills everytime. lol

  • I absolutely LOVE Crown klutch, but cmon let's not compare apples and oranges BD is amazing!

  • Would that be Dumbass High?

  • wow youve gotta be the stupidest person ever

  • What is a space chord?

  • the chords in this video. Its just called space chords cause it sounds cool and the progression is kinda outterspace sounding

  • could have something to do with Close Encounters and Mars by Holst making an appearance. Just a thought.

  • space chord is the chord where everyone pretty much place something different... it doesn't really have anything to do with the fact that Mars and Close Encounters are involved... good thought though.. =p

it's mainly used to tune.. dissonance to consonance in the next chord

  • Actually, they play play a pedal tone and then play a half stp above and below it for the "right amount" of dissonance.

  • That fat pedal tone after the staccato/lip slur section gives me chills everytime I hear it. Then the chord progression at the end almost makes me cry. Way to go BD

  • Chills!!!!! I'm gonna make it there someday!

  • You must use the force!

  • This, and DCI will NEVER get old to an old band nerd like myself. Hate to admit it, but this makes tears come to my eyes EVERY time!

  • @DJDeCiBeL01 YES!! The same happens to me.

  • man i love this video <33333, makes me cry :D

  • to the high voiced hole: way to add to the proceedings by whooping directly into the microphone. every time you get the urge to do that, have someone kick you in the trachea and spit in your face.

  • I love how they put the close encounters theme in there

  • lol people getting excited over a pretty chord progression.

  • Chyeah!

  • YouTube videos do not do justice of how spine chilling it is in person. Listen to it in person and it's a totally different feeling.

  • Amen.

  • I know what you mean. When my band warmed up in a fairly small room in the Edward Jones Dome, there wasn't a single person who even walked by us without goosebumps.

  • the warm up rooms at the edward jones dome are awesome they are so small and loud

  • Personally I think they get more excited over the dynamics than the chord progression itself.

  • lol i said the same thing

  • Well...duh, any band can do chord progressions, but BD is the only group I have ever seen, or heard, put that much power and intensity out of their bells, it's really unbelievable, you know your good when you can make the crowd crap their pants.. from warming up.

  • blue devils i think focus too much on the amount of sound sometimes not as much on quality, compared to say SCV who has a very well rounded sound, but not as full as BD. both are still talented corps nonetheless.

  • Have you heard phantom regiment play Canon in D?

  • Who is PR? Didn't they place 9/12? :P Go BD.

Sorry I just hate it when people go to videos such as this and say "Hey this other band is better"

  • great warm up, very hard too i marched phantom 05, then bd 06 and 07 and those were the best times of my life, cant compare the warm ups though they are both amazing and fun

  • how hard is drum corps?

  • not going to lie its hard but if you work hard and practice you can make it, typically drum corps will take marching skill over music playing

  • Yeah i play fine but my marching is good but it aint really the best it can be

  • you have to be pretty confident of yourself to audition though

  • just practice hard and you can make it, i mean as a junior in high school i never thought i had a chance and i practiced and made so you can too

  • crown can do chords better

  • i have the goosebumps. THIS IS AWESOME!!

  • This gave me chills. I had to get a blanket. XD

  • Are the mellos on the 5th?

  • baritone at 1:40 what are the notes?? i belive its C,D,Bb,C,G

  • i play trumpet and its the same thing

    its the

    6th note in the Bb scale then 7th 5th 1st then 5th

    fingerings would bo 12,2,0,0,0

  • Anybody know what that first warm-up is and where to get that music?

  • There's a "marching band warmup" on sibelius music. Just gotta search around. The title is something about "Power Studies for a marching hornline" or something. It's a little bit different than this, so just change the notes.

  • Thanks!

  • its their basic warmup exercise that they modify every year. Its not hard to transcribe it, just play by ear.

  • did anyone else catch the theme to close encounters of a third kind at 1:40 and 1:50?

  • Yeah, wasn't too subtle. But cool nonetheless.

  • i did like 4 or 5 years ago. lol

  • God theres nothing like the sound of brass coming together on a perfect chord. Gives me chills now just as it did when I played lol

  • Is this a chromatic slur exercise?

  • yes i think it is, my high school marching band did them also for brass. Ours was a tad different, but we adopted the general idea from BD. (I played Baritone ;) )

  • no its a custom made warm up

  • 2:26 to the end

  • Goose f-ing bumps.

  • wow chills every time , no joke

  • nice space chords

  • Woah.

  • how do they do 2:02-2:25? or at 0:57?

  • theyre all playing random notes

  • I'm guessing that those notes aren't random, but instead arranged to sound random to us. I'll bet each performer has specific notes to play. At this level, NOTHING is left to chance.

  • Actually, they are playing a minor second (half-step) above or below the previous pitch. It creates a huge amount of dissonance, leading to the amazing resolve at 2:26

  • No, I've played this with 3 different groups 2 of them drum corps, its random notes. Your just supposed to play in a specific range and a different note as the person next to you

  • aaahhh.....that makes a lot more sence now....and it's still kick ass!!!!

  • You're right sig. I've done this before. You play a half, whole, or a whole and a half below the note in the chord you have. SOO SICK.

  • It starts at 1:10. :)

  • Jeeeeze, I love them!

It's amazing to hear them play and how well they perform <3

  • Their Dam GOOD!!!! Their The Gods of DCI!!!!

  • DC fan eh?

    =)

    CAVALIERS FTW!!!

  • We all have our favorites. I personally look at DCI differently than when I was younger. I'm glad this is still avalible for others to enjoy and to be a part of something so great.

I'll still root for Phantom.. be mesmorized by the Devil's music, and marvel at the Cavies M&M.

    It's ALL good. Right?

  • what is the brand of their instruments?

  • i may be wrong, but i think its yamaha

  • dynasty horns and drums...

  • my bad

  • Blue Devils are sponsored by Dynasty, not Yamaha... marched 03/04

  • they play dynasty buddy.

  • you're right

  • wrong to the extreme.

    proudly sponsored by dynasty.

    think before speaking.

  • simply amazing......period

  • space chords are so beautiful

  • so...what is your definition of space chords?

  • starting at about 1:00 is my definition of space chords

  • technically the Actual "Space Progression" doesn't Begin until 2:25

  • I was pretty sure that the space chords were the dissonant parts...

  • well the begining is all double tounging

  • lip slurs

and crazy good ones at that :)

  • its actually all single tounging

  • i wish our band could double tounge like that..

  • you mean lip slur like that?

  • Go Blue Devils!!!

  • awsomeeee

  • chills.

    every time

no matter what, it gives me the chills

  • i can only imagine my joy liek theirs at 2:26 being there. i would be so happy and i couldnt describe the feeling i would get.

  • 0:58 IS awesome

  • wow im impressed :D

  • sounds so cool wow like starwars

  • You gotta be shitting me. I won't say the name, but the open class corps i was in had something like this that was slightly different called stuff. These are the real Corps!

  • saw this done in allentown on the park's basketball courts...omfg

  • all your warm ups are kick ass!

  • Ach mal für die Deutsche Fraktion ! Das ist ein Warmp up.. Zeigt mir eine Band in Deutschland die sowas hinbekommt. c³ oder noch höher ... es ist der Wahnsinn. GÄNSEHAUT !

  • That freakin rocked. I had chills like crazy!!! Blue Devils kick a@#.

  • this ones even crazier. i think i like this video better than the one im showing you. this one in the link is just louder lmao

    watch?v=zJ-r-Hyr1sE

  • The space chord is between an interval of five regarding to trumpetdude 17

and BD is awsome they rock all other DCI corps you can see by how many brass trophies they have.

  • Trumpet squealing to the max!

This, without a doubt, just owned Chuck Norris

  • I think it's like within a range: any note within like a certain interval of a certain note , but every player can pick a different note. it's their own choice. but i think there's a restriction interval around a certain note that i don't know sorry. but hope that kinda helped...?

  • thell me those chords :D.. the space chords.

  • chords: Bb major 7 Eb major 7 F minor 7 F# minor 7 (repeat last two, inversions and whatnot) *space chords Ab Major D Major (repeat) F dominant 7 (with a sus 4, the Bb) F dominant 7 (Bb resolves down to the A) then Bb Major enjoy! those are some pretty chords!
  • maybe you can write it out to... am dutch.. those chords dont say me anything in englisch language.. LOL

  • This is what I remember

    Bb9,Eb9,Fm7,GbM7,Ab,GbM7,Ab, space chords

    Ab,D,Ab,D,F sus 4, F sus 2, Bb F split, no D in the chord

  • Beautiful!!!

  • :| Amazing. I really enjoyed this.

  • That gives me a boner.

  • haha im glad it wasnt just me

  • rofl was this mt sac? omgosh that was my first year witnessing dci (2006) mannnnn awsomeeee

  • Sure was. I was standing in front listening to the low brass. Love those euphs.

  • =D =D =D

  • sooooooooo fucking cool

  • I agree ^^

  • Purely awesomeness

  • gotta love the pedals

  • Unreal.... BD is flat out amazing.

  • I get chills every time I hear this hornline.

  • John Meehan is conducting

  • what's the name of the conductor? i might recognize him.

  • that just violated me... In a good way.

  • LMAO

  • i love how there horns dnt move...there liek rocks ....duhh there tha BD ...yeaaaaaaaaa boiiiii

  • you wrecked the video with your screams at the end...

  • But with style... of course!
