i personally think 3d land is better but 3d land is more like pury level orientated and 64 is more like one big world where you can go everywhere and in 64 the levels are bigger
@ToguroKun Well, Sm64ds is modern Mario-game structure with fairly good visuals and a direct remake of sm64, whereas sm3DL is retro Mario-game structure with much better visuals and is an entirely new game itself. I personally prefer the modern Mario-game structure by a landslide, so I like sm64ds better as a whole, but sm3DL is also great and I like everything besides level structure about it more.
Okay, but this does not answer the key question of whether the game registers all movement directions, or just the 8 that it already did with the d-pad. Because this is completely pointless if you can only send those 8 signals from the analog when playing a DS game on the 3DS.
I grew up with All the Mario Games and would really like for Nintendo to continue to remake them! They've Remade Super Mario Brothers, Paper Mario and Super Mario Land. Super Mario 64 still works in it. The one thing I'm disappointed about is Super Mario Sunshine. I absolutely loved that game on my GameCube. Hopefully they'll remake it or add to the 3DS collection. I can't wait for Super Smash Bros.

@jemimadabest09 The circle pad will only work for the eight directions that can be used on the Dpad, nothing inbetween. If you push easily on the circle pad, that will not make mario move. In my opinion, it is easier to use rather than the Dpad, especially for the fights with bowser when you have to spin him around.

In theory, it would be possible to implement 3D in original DS games, as computers with 3D graphics cards can do this to emulators. That said, this would be expensive and resource-intensive for Nintendo to implement.
@homestar92 Especially considering that would require functions in the graphics library to be rewritten, with different implementations stored for different platforms available on the 3DS, so that all the function calls made from the game on the cartridge are still correct, and also enabling 3D on the device itself. So that would probs mean some sort of lookup table for the library version to use. Highly doubtful it'll come out :(. Nice idea though :).
@crazytayz123 You can play every DS game, including multiplayer on a 3ds. DS-Dwownload Game is also integrated. (You cannot play DS games, which use a GBA slot extension for instance guitar hero)
For the game to be in 3D it has to be a 3D game. Because the DS games were not made in 3D, they can't go in 3D. If you want to play Mario in 3D on the 3DS, Super Mario 3D Land is coming soon.

Those apps suck, hands down. Zelda, Mario, Pokemon, Call of Duty...REAL portable/console games, and by real I mean 'actualized, best potential' games are worth your hard earned $5 than some crappy app. The only app worth getting, is in my opinion, Angry Birds. Undeniable fun. But AB is the ONLY app worth getting, otherwise go buy a Zelda, Mario, Kirby, Kingdom Hearts, CoD, Halo, whatever game on a CONSOLE or a PORTABLE, not a PHONE.

Very flawed. On original DS games, the up, left, right, down, and everything were mapped to the D-pad buttons. That's four buttons. This doesn't change anything. There's still four "buttons", except now you just point in the direction of the button. A thumb pad can't magically change the controls to analog.
@TheSaacGod But if you use the tuch screen then you will be able to move like you would with an analog stick, you can move it slightly to sneak then a bit more to walk and so forth so it probably works wit the 3ds circle pad so HA! lol

Very flawed. On original DS games, the up, left, right, down, and everything were mapped to the D-pad buttons. That's four buttons. This doesn't change anything. There's still four "buttons", except now you just point in the direction of the button. A thumb pad can't magically change the controls to analog.
