E85 costs less for a reason, you get a little less mpg, so it ends up about the same price. it's just more econo friendly (i suppose).

My car runs better and smoother on 25% ethanol than it does on the standard 10% ethanol. Plus it gets better millage on 25%.

There's more to converting a vehicle to E85 than just reprogramming the computer. You have to put in a different gas tank and different gas lines that are teflon coated. The ethanol would corrode your current tank and lines.

Sorry, ethanol is a solvent that would eat teflon like a styrofoam cup. How much do the oil companies pay you to shill for them or are you just wrong? Most cars built after 1990 will run on e85 without any conversion at all. Fuel injector cleaner is made of ethanol. Would'nt that corrode your fuel lines and tank? Where do they get you guys?

Usually they start out by saying that they are mechanics and experts on blah, blah, blah before they tell us why e85 won't work.

And already back in the mid 90'ties the oil company's started putting 10% ethanol to get the emissions down and prevent moister in unleaded fuel tank's at the station.

@BlackNGoldRules no you are wrong. with a lot of newer cars just reprogramming is all that is needed. and i have been driving with a 50 percent blend for 50000 miles with no problems at all, and i haven't converted my car yet. Ethanol is alcohol not acid, oil companies just want you to think that it wrecks your car and maybe older cars would have problems. but i don't think they make a car now that cant handle ethanol.

@crazzzzy420 the only way to tell for sure it your car can handle a 20,30,or50% blend of ethanol is to try some in it. i started at 20% and worked my way up. if you get a lean code or a check engine light run a little less. i currently have 76000 miles with no lights or lean codes. in fact i have only turned the light on 1 or 2 times wile experimenting with strait E85 in my non flex fuel car. for me ethanol is a grate fuel that i use every day. E50 is 97 octane an my car loves it.

compare the prices and make your own calculations... even being about 60% of gas mileage ethanol is cheaper and the main issue is: Youll reduce imports of oil and remain the dollars used to import oil at home. Providing more jobs inside america and helpin farmers to keep their business. Its somethin about patriotism too. And reducin polution and greenhouse emitions. Stop being so obtuse thinkin only in the money at the pump.

gee they forgot that e85 gets only about 60% of gas milage so even at the lower price its more expensive than gas plus how long do you think the state will not ad on there tax on e85 like they do on gas

Ethanol made from corn is more pollutant then cellulosic made Ethanol. Cellulosic ethanol is also more economic.

... there is no big scale commerical product for cellulose based ethanol yet... and the catalyst is not cheap enuff yet.
