from what I have read, the speaker in this is a 16 ohm. When using the output jack it is split into 8 ohm, therefore almost doubling the output volume and wattage.
Hell yea its a nice mic!!! Its a Sennheiser e906 super dynamic mic specially made for mic'ing guitar amps. There is a lower version, e609 which is equally great sounding but without the tone switch. I prefer this mic over the newer made in china shure SM57. These Sennheiser mics are made in Germany.

Depends what you're looking for. The 10 inch speaker will not only be louder, but it'll be "boomier" and have better bass response. If you're just practicing in your room and need it to be quiet, it doesn't really matter
I bought the 8 with intentions of saving up the extra 50 bucks towards a nice 2x12 cab since the ac4tv's have a speaker output jack. That way I can still practice with the 1/10 watt 8" speaker at night in my apartment or crank it to the full output on a cab in the future. If you want tube distortion that is quiet, this is the amp to get. The ac4tv 10 only goes down to 1/4 watt and will naturally be louder with the 10". Having said that, the 8" doesn't have the best bass response, but still great
@beebs07 since the amp is 4watts you want to make sure the cab you get is like 4 or 5watts RMS cuz if you get a lets say 50watt RMS cab the speakers in the cab will want 50watts from the amp but the amp is only 4watt so instead of giving the seakers 50watts it will give them abnormal distortion wich wont sound good and this go's for all type's of amps & speakers (not just guitar amps &speakers) for best sound quality with amp's and speakers mach the rms of the amp with the rms of the speaker
@777MMT Good point, often overlooked. While most cabs will be rated at more than 4-5 watts, it is important to match a relatively low powered speaker with such an amp. I have a Carvin V16-5 which I usually play in 5W mode. It came stock with a 100W speaker. At first, the stock speaker wasn't moving much air, as 5W barely tickled it. I swapped in a Celestion Greenback, rated 25W, and the unit came to life. Getting the air moving is critical to tone at any volume.
@beebs07 Are you saying a 4 watt amp will be louder with a larger speaker? 4 watts is 4 watts. I have played all the AC4's and as far as volume, they are the same. I own the 10" but played the 6.5" and the head cranked and there is no difference in volume. If there is, you can't really tell. The 10 has a little more bottom end. That's about it.
Wow yeah I agree with gmlasam, I don't own an amp yet, but this video blows away all the other ones for the 10" version. I like how he switches the attenuator for you. It sounds REALLY good.

how big of a difference is there between the 10 and 8 inch swpeaker... is it worth 50 bucks more to go to the 10 inch?

@radioactiveparadise I need it fairly quit but I also like a nice bassy, creamy tone... is that achieveable with the 8 inch?
sergeant137 2 years ago
To be honest, I don't really know, the only way to tell is to try them out.
radioactiveparadise 2 years ago
@radioactiveparadise ok... thanks for trying to help anyways though

That AC4TV8 sounds great. I have the AC4TV10. Haven't seen too many of the 8" versions here in the States, but this video made me interested in one.
