A Fenn in a stone tunnel is a good way to control them but I tend to leave them around my place as I don't shoot the rabbits there so the stoats do a bit of natural control. Also, we often get rats at the end of my drive where the birds are fed so the stoats do a clean up job there too.
When I get round to getting chickens, my policy may change as stoats can be murderous little buggers.
Trying to video a water shrew will be super difficult as they move like lightning but there is a video of a slow worm on my wildlife and bushcraft playlist - they are a legless lizard, although they look just like a snake.
Realistically, if the stoats didn't run away, they could have probably killed the cat. One of 'em can take down and kill a full grown rabbit, which are only a little bit smaller than cats. O_o Stoats are crazy.
I can't think of any local species that hasn't been spotted in the garden. Some good, some not so good. These are somewhere in the middle as they eat mice and rats but also eat the slow worms and water shrews. Hmmmmmm.....
I can't get away with dogs at all. I hate the smell of them and while most people will agree that cats are evil, I like their mellow attitude to life.
those things are cute :D

It's a good thing stoats aren't venomous.
kozmon0t 6 months ago
@kozmon0t no, funny thing is that weasles eat snakes too, so they endure poison
vagoperezoso 5 months ago
@vagoperezoso people don't endure poison. If stoats were poisonous, they'd be eating people. There would be no escape.
kozmon0t 5 months ago
@scarefiction yes,but stoats are bigger and stronger

I never heard of a Stoat, adorable! Great video. Never heard of a slow worm or a water shrew either. :(

Your garden really is a magnet for wildlife. You keep cats? Funny, I always thought you were a dog-person.
