2 miles high isn't close to Everest. 1 mile = 5,280 feet. Everest is 29,028 feet high (that's 5 1/2 miles high), so Everest is 2 1/2 times taller than this building would be.

But I agree that there is no material known that has the tensile strength to support a tower this tall. It has to be 200 times stronger than steel or something. And how are you gonna get that cable up there anyway? Tie it to a rocket or manufacture it in space? :D
