  • Mine did that too. I just opened it up and realigned the plastic part. Problem fixed.

  • i got it back from the depot when i shipped it out and all they did was tighten the screws from the receipt, so i called them and they told me to go to the apple store one more time to get it looked at and they decided to replace the ENTIRE screen with the hinge because they are both connected. It'll take 5 days the guy said but someone told me they replace it with refurbished parts! what the heck, is that true or do u know if its a brand new part?

  • @DaGreat81 i think they replace it with refurbished parts. i keep my screen PERFECT and i noticed a few smudges that weren't there before

  • @Legomax18

i did some research on the internet and i couldnt find anywhere where it said that they replace the parts with refurbished ones, i kept my screen flawless and now i gotta let go of it lol, but im assuming those smudges on yours were from the factory and they came off right? if its like new, i can live with it haha

  • @DaGreat81 yeah, now that i come to think of it, they probably were from the factory...

do you know if they replace the aluminum back lid when they replace the screen? mine had some distinct traits, and this one still has them.

  • @Legomax18

the guy at the apple bar said theyll replace the entire lid that moves, i dont think they separate the screen from the backlid because they are both connected just like how the hinge is connected to screen itself. but you never know what they do at the depot, it better be fixed when i get it back in a few more days when i gotta go back and pick it up =/, i wish they would just ship it to my address

  • when they replaced it, did it fix the problem?

  • @DaGreat81 yep. they replaced it and there is no problem now.

is your MBP still under warranty? they should replace it without charging you since it obviously wasn't your fault that the problem occurred

  • @Legomax18

yeah, it is under warranty for 5 more months, whenever i cleaned it and applied pressure/rubbing the hinge from the back or front, it makes a pop sound but i thought that was normal and i didnt care and i ignored it, but over time it got worse and started popping (same sound like yours) whenever i opened it or closed it just a bit to adjust the angle of the screen, its really quiet but it got worse and pissed me off slowly over time

idk if its just me being paranoid but i paid 2 grand for this and i dont want anything wrong with it lol, every macbook pro owner will say the same thing

  • @DaGreat81 same with me. if apple is gonna force us to pay $1200-$5500 on a computer with specs of a $600-$3000 computer, they ought to fix everything that goes wrong with it

  • i have the EXACT same problem and i took it yesterday to the apple store and the rude technician said he couldnt do anything about it but the noise comes from the hinge

i just spoke to the apple guy on the phone and said that ill have to overnight ship and theyll fix it/replace it

  • Hey, I'm curious on what they said a the Apple store?

  • @cvelizMTK sorry for the slow response i didn't have my computer for a 5 days..

anyway they said: that there was a problem with the hinge, and they would replace it. they didn't say exactly what it was.

i just got it back today, and i can tell that they replaced the hinge (black plastic band)

  • it sounds like the wires are loose so you may need to pop into an apple store and they will correct it for you without warranty if your lucky or just take it apart yourself and correct it

  • @jimbugaty ok. thanks. i'm taking it in this saturday. its getting worse
