What was the purpose of her choosing Joaquin Rodrigo's Aranjuez? Even it is very popular choice for figure skating- I love the music very much, but the music itself makes me cry. The reason why it is so, is that I have it on my cd with John Williams on guitar.
How in the world can she expect to win the gold next year without any triple-triple combos. She better start practicing those combos and take risks during the competition. Otherwise she hoping that Kim and Ando fall on their asses.
Pay no attention to the commentators - she has a triple triple - it is a triple toe - half-loop jump to the other foot and change of edge-triple loop.
It comes just after the half-way point in her program.
It is the only combination like that in the world - no one else does it, it is too complicated for most skaters to change feet halfway through the combination.
She just competed in the Olympics (bronze medal) and landed 7 triples - a minor step out on 1 of them - no serious deductions.
@jamarsano she does a triple toe - half loop - triple salchow. sasha cohen did the same combination in a lot of her programs.
in the 2009 rules though a half loop makes it count as a sequence so technically it's not a triple-triple combination. in the 2011 rules it would count as a triple-single-triple 3 jump combination, because half loop and single loop are worht the same, so it probably isn't worth doing since most people find triple-double-double to be easier.

Yeah, really quick and not smooth on the transitions. The triples weren't even really remarkable. I totally agree with your analysis. (Kalaway) NOT graceful! What has happened to this sport?
her jumps were cleaner than the other ladies and she has the second best 3f and the best 3s in the whole competition. And just to let you know the only person who had better transitions than Joannie was Yuna Kim, she got 8.25 while Joannie got 7.65.
Sorry but your comment is as far from a fact as it can be. I don't know if you really watched what the others did, but there is NO QUESTION this performance combined with her sp deserved the silver medal.
she should have won the silver, not Asada mao

Messy and some stuff not really at the same level as the others, I just don't think she really deserved it.
