I've always been impressed with how these musicians can play for that long, seemingly without taking a breath. I would never be able to play this instrument.
hes you would. every average pearson would, with practoce. you may not be able to play as well as this guy, but with a little determination and persistence it's not that hard to learn.
Truth be told, the reason I wouldn't be able to play the didgeridoo is because it seems to be one of those instruments you have to buzz your lips to use. And I cannot stand doing that. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. I'd rather listen and enjoy the music of those who don't mind buzzing their lips.

he's banging on a friggin stick and blowing into some huge hollowed out tree branch...in the scorching hot sun. i'm sitting in the air conditioning being called an idiot by somebody that'd rather listen to this than actual music. can't help but disagree with you. but go ahead and call me an idiot again... drinking haterade only makes you the idiot. everyone's entitled to an opinion and mine is that this sucks. sue me...this is america. thought we had that right here.
well this video isn't america. learn about the aboriginal culture before you go and diss it i think it's amazing that the indiginous australians can make music out of a plain ol' tree! the music is great!
you can stay and listen to you're symphony, but us australians appreciate this music and don't even want people like you watching these movies if you're going to insult the culture,
ive never known(awesome sound btw)is the digeri used for spiritual purposes or is it like the pipes in ireland, as a terror weapon, or to communicate over distance, knew an ozzy that played a much smaller one with a high pitch and never wanted to seem ignorant.i really gotta figure out how to incorporate this sound into the scheme of things
Leave it for dumb white trash hill billies to not appreciate any instrument they don't knowof, then again they only know their sisters or dads. Stupid ignorant fucks should just run into traffic and do the world a favor. I enjoyed this video, 5 stars.
To make a stereotype out of a stereotype is every bit as bad as the original offense. Respond to hatred with love, to evil with good, to ignorance with education. It may sound cliche, but it's so true, and so relevant.
And for the record, I enjoyed the vid as well. I love the sound of the didgeridoo.
I thought the last dude was bad ass! Not the part when he used his little twig but the sound he made had a type of beat to it. Sounded kinda metal-ish to me.
this video is flagged for drug abuse... you'd have to be really fucked up to think that this was music...let alone blow into a oversized crazy straw for 5 minutes straight. i want the time i spent waiting to see if there was actually something decent in this stupid video back.
i can put one of those empty plastic juice hugs underneath a bike tire spoke and make a better sound. what the hell kinda instrument is this? sounds like a bumblebee with the shits. in fact this "music" is so shitty i think i need to wash my hands after watching it.
when did they travel to nz?are they travelling to nz again?im keen yidaki player from NZ and wud LOVE to see yolngu yidaki played live, is there a website i register on2 so i can recieve info on them? cheers
Every time I see Larry play Im just blown away...his rhythms are amazing... I would love to see him play live some day...Larry, you are a truely special player.... Thanks once again for the clip...
Larry is different to other Yolngu players in the way he composes his rhythms. His sense of timing, when he is focussed, is impeccable - and when he does his syncopation thing it is out of this world! Speed isn't everything, but balance and playing tricks with rhythms and timing - when done properly, is so enjoyable to listen to.
does anyone freestyle on these tunes?! the guy on 00:54 is a killer!

They do breathe. It is circular breathing they use
sonofthedestroyer 2 years ago
circular breathing is not hard. just a bit confusing at first. it takes very little air to play a didge.

lol, fair enough.
for me personally it's when somebody runs his hand up the fabric. if playin didge was like that for me i also wouldn't play it.
well, at least you can enjoy listening.

The yirdaki works like a drum. It is a rhythmic instrument. But if you were a real music lover you would have understood that straight away.
