This was such a great ride. It was by far the best stand up coaster I ever rode (I have ridden them at other parks including cedar point). Too bad they had to take it down. It was a great ride.

@Almondania waaaa? No. The ride was dismantled in 2001. The silt composition of the soil is was built on was too high so the ride began to sink into the ground. Along with the hard to find replacement parts (it was the fist stand-up rcoaster) it just wasn't economically feasible to keep the ride.

Eventhough it was not the wildes ride but sure one of the most amazing ones I have ever been on. A loop in standing position was just fantastic and very impressive. I will never forget this roller coaster. For fans of roller coaster please also check the Colossos ride in the Heide Park in Germany. It´s crazy too:)

@ke5534 It was only kinda where Delirium is now. The helix aligned with about where delirium sits. The rest of the ride kinda fit into what is now maintenence paths between the Oktoberfest mini-lake and Thunder Alley.

Somehow I really doubt this. The Vortex is an aging, old/obsolete rollercoaster where the son of beast is a new and very expensive roller coaster. Why would they do that. It doesnt make business sense.

I'm sure they sold this to make more money to put in delirium. Kings dominion in virginia has the same ride (shockwave) if you really want to ride it, its not too bad a ride, it is a unique experience standing up. It is always unfortunate when parks get rid of one of a kind rides

It was not taken down because someone fell off. The Cobra had a major accident the first year it opened...1984...part of the loop popped due to rivet failure causing a minor derailment with major injuries but no deaths. It was dismantled in 2002 supposedly due to maintence cost...I think it is because Paramount were bitches who wanted to hype thier shitty ass movies over having excellent rides. I for one would love to see it back with stronger steel (that was its major issue)
