if you have been eating it frozen all this while, you are missing out on a lot. the smell and the creamy texture is all destroyed when the flesh is frozen.

though, if you do like frozen durian, stick it in a blender and add yoghurt. pure AWESOME.

When we store it its frozen but yeah i guess since once its been defrosted some of the smell and texture might have been destroyed.

But a couple of times my mom and her friends brought durian straight off the street and just eating it right after.

I would define "gamey" as flesh that tastes of it's natural state. Meaning stronger flavored and true to it's environment. Farmed animals feed on oats or animal byproducts that impart a more neutral taste to it's flesh. Free range chickens, turkeys, and cows are much more strongly flavored than farmed livestock as an example.

for those who's trying durian for the first time and wanna get over the taste and the texture of the durian, here's a trick.

First, pinch your nose and eat it. Try to get use to the texture in your mouth first. Keep pinching it and don't let go. try another few mouthfuls of it.

Second, here's the surprise, slowly let go of your nose and enjoy the aroma of the king of fruit.
