Well, Das Kapital is the most detailed analysis of Capitalist economics; perhaps the single most brilliant and comprehensive book on economics ever written (actually, 3 books). As Steve Keen puts it, most Marxists are irrelevant, but most of Marx isn't.
PROF. DR. MICHEAL HUDSON is a honest & sincere economist that speak the truth come what may. It's very inspirational, educational & motivational by just listening to him. I don't understand the value of gold; it has very little utility, and although relatively rare, there many other substances equally rare that don't command the same price. I mean, fiat money only has value because we give it value, but really so does gold, no? So, if they are really equal, then why not invest in stocks (cash) for the higher return. I guess it's all just psychology.
@SuperOxideDimutase Society needs money to function, so it must find something to use that has properties such as: rare, durable, hard to extract out of nature, easily divisible, easily identifiable, easily portable. If something else had those properties besides gold, it would also be money. The only things that come close are other precious metals, such as silver.
@maxkeiser Hi Max, that was a different yellow tie.
I am glad you asked, yesterday I got a package, my tie went all the way to France and back, because the address was wrong! With my sloppy handwriting, the French probably could not figure out where to deliver it :(
Honore DeBalzac: "Behind every great fortune there is a great crime." The Roosevelt presidents, Teddy & Franklin, fortune was made by grandfather, Warren Delano running opium to China. He was a drug runner! This was a British strategy that addicted a huge percentage of Chinese people and brought down China's Manchu Empire. Then mama's boy, Franklin Roosevelt, started the downfall of the US Economy, but it all started with Teddy Roosevelt. Check it out.
@xmenrus The Kennedy's fortune was made from booze during prohibition... but prohibition was wrong to begin with so maybe they are exempted from that expression.
Joe Kennedy was a total SOB. He's favorite saying was, "Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser." He was also the consumate womanizer. His wife, Rose, was anxious for divorce. Her father, being hard core Catholic, said no, "Catholic women don't divorce their husbands." I also remember Joe Kennedy was intimate with the mafia. Boston itself had an irish mafia which I've read Joe and his generation of family where very involved with. So I think the Kennedy's can be included.
That is the drawback with trying to find the truth. It often takes some time, and most people who work have time limits. I hope my summaries can bring that truth to people who have lives, as I have not worked in over a year! Unemployment is what brought me to the truth.
1mealperday the irony is not working and learning about gold and silver will probably pay off much better than working and investing using the conventional wisdom in the next few years.
I have put a lot of energy into the garden, as i really see thats my bread and butter. Now i am looking at what i can create at home and in the garage. Growing flowers for sale and enuf vegetables to feed my neighbors. I hope this disaster ends the me me me society. I have made it a point of honor to inform all i meet of the challenges we face. Perhaps i woke someone, i hope so. Zeitgeist left a strong impression on me, i hope more folks watch it. I never had the time before.
Envy is not the engine of history. History shows that the poor generally do not resent the rich, as long as they are getting what is coming to them. it's when things break down that there's trouble.
indeed. I've been in very fancy homes to visit, all paid for in cash, by people far, far richer than I might ever be. So long as I don't have to suffer for them to have it, I am not bothered. It's when I have to suffer, to lose rather than to voluntarily trade and/or risk, that I have a serious problem.
nice vid. This guy may talk fast but he talks sense.

In a system where everybody knows the rules, and the rules are fair, there tends not to be resentment.
