Its funny that all the comments divide up the contributions to computation of the various countries and civilizations. Perhaps this is a historical concept, as I see these cams and differentials as more part of a unified mathematical language.

I know the History Channel talked briefly about the Greek's effort to make a primitive computer out of wood and ropes. But I've never heard of Muslims' contributions.
It's sad to see the world today so divided by religion and idealologies. The ancients had respect for each other.
