  • Its funny that all the comments divide up the contributions to computation of the various countries and civilizations. Perhaps this is a historical concept, as I see these cams and differentials as more part of a unified mathematical language.

  • Thanks for the post!

    I learned so much!

This is what I call "Yankee inginuity"!

  • @lln003 This is what I call "Human inginuity". Invented by the Greeks (Antikythera mechanism), improved by the Muslims (Abu Rayhan Biruni and Al-Jazari), refined by the English (Charles Babbage) and the Scots (James Thomson), engineered by the Germans (Enigma) and reverse-engineered by the Poles (Bombe).

    oh...

did the German U-boats have the same computers during WWI, and WWII ?

Do you have any videos about the ancients' contributions to these analoque computers? I'd love to see them.

I know the History Channel talked briefly about the Greek's effort to make a primitive computer out of wood and ropes. But I've never heard of Muslims' contributions.

It's sad to see the world today so divided by religion and idealologies. The ancients had respect for each other.
